"Where did you go last night?" Renee was sitting down on the porch of her house with Rainier beside her. It was a cloudy day in Paris, perhaps it would rain soon. Though they were outside, the whole atmosphere was dark and gloomy. She took a sip of her honey tea and turned to him. Her eyes were cold, empty, and interrogating. Renee always had a habit of waking up in the middle of the night, it was her body's biological programming. Each time, she would come and check on her brother to see if he was truly asleep.
She had the housekeeper that was assigned to him to give him a sleeping pill each night, that way she would always have him under control, for during the day, she always had someone watching over him. Their house had no CCTV, she had made sure of it because she was also doing some pretty shady things inside the house which she wanted no one to know about. Including putting her own brother on med to control his system. So far, she had not had much issues with him, until last night.
She checked on him like usual, but this time he was gone, she went to check all over the house but even after hours of searching, she could not find him anywhere. She could have sworn she was on the verge of bursting out last night. The only thing holding her back from physically harm everyone else in the house was the medication she was taking to calm her nerves down. That night she stayed up in the living room, but Rainier did not return until morning.
Rainier stopped on his track. Much to his luck he had to walk passed by her that day so early in the morning. He had initially planned to remain hidden in his room yet he knew it would not hold her back from seeking him anyway. It was much better to confront her right then. He had had enough of her rough treatment toward him, though he knew as well he was challenging the fire. He picked up a cup for himself and started sipping it. He mentally swore from then on, he would no longer cover his sister's madness.
"I have told them everything. Raphael and Corentin, the men who has always been with Clara, I have told them every single thing you did to her." Renee's pupil dilated, and she rose from her seat with fury visible in her eyes.
"What did you say!" She spoke half shouting. Her hands were trembling in fury. Her usually beautiful and smile painted face was replaced by a terrifying glare which appeared almost inhuman.
"I know it was you who poisoned Clara, Renee. I have told them everything. Now they will be coming for you." his tone was firm with no fear or regret. Renee picked up her porcelain cup and threw it toward him. He managed to dodge it, but her fury does not stop there. She was screaming and she picked up a knife, Rainier had expected it before he did anything, she was aiming the knife at his chest, veins started to appear on her forehead and eyes. She had finally gone to her mad mode. All her perfect facade was shattered in a moment. The true nature of her rose to the surface.
A monster.
She could try all her might, but physically, Rainier was stronger than her. He only let her did whatever she pleased because of his pity, he thought if he gave her the life she wanted she could start to change, it was not even that, he only wished for her to calm down, but she has crossed the line.
He grabbed her hand and squirmed it tightly with one hand. It was almost too tightly. The knife fell on the floor and she proceed to attack with her other hand, but once again he could block it with his arms. Then she did something Rainier did not predict. She lifted up her knees and kicked his stomach hard. It made Rainier lost his balance and released his grip on her, he fumbled backward, holding his stomach.
She took the knife once more and was ready to attack him again. And Rainier thought that this time he was dead for sure, but right before she could do anything. A bunch of men dressed in black entered the yard. Those men were all tall and built, their strength and speed were incredible, the cuffed her hand and legs as well. She shouted, it was so loud, yet no one seemed to be paying attention. The sealed her mouth to silent her. Rainier was partially terrified and relieved as well.
"Who are you?" The men did not answer him, but the immediately brought her out, pushed her inside a car, and left just like that.
Rainier could not comprehend what had just happened, it was unlike anything he has ever witnessed before. He had no idea what would happen to his sister afterward, but whatever it was, he knew that it would not be merciless.
There was a pang of sadness inside of him, because no matter how crazy she was, she was still his twin sister, someone he grew up with.
In his hazy state of mine as he recovered from the close attack, the memory of the past returned to him. The dark memory of her and their childhood he had wished to bury deep within his mind.
He remembered that night when he released her, his parents were murdered. She had killed them out of sheer psychopathy and built up hatred she had developed for many years. Yes, she had always been a psycho little girl. It has started with the small things, from mices to birds to their pet cats and dogs. The parents were getting worried and locked her, which only heightened her murderous air.
Rainier, however, was too young and naive to foresee the consequences of his action.
He witnessed her with bloody hands and a terrifying grin on her face. He thought she would murder him as well, but no, instead she was hugging him and whispered in his ears.
"Thank you, brother, you are the only one who understands me, I love you."
