Chapter 23: Chapter 23

His eyes widened. Kaitlyn hated Chris, and he knew. Hell, even he was starting to hate Chris now, so why? He held both her shoulders, so she would some back to her senses. "Chris? Kaitlyn, did you say Chris?" Her eyes were cold, and he almost didn't recognize his daughter. "What other Chris is there, daddy? I am going to marry him tomorrow." She said, then brushed past him to her room. The alpha turned, staring at her back as she feebly made it to her room. He would have to go to the pack house now.

The last button came off, and she sucked in a breath of satisfaction. His chiseled, beautiful toned body was way better than of Chris and she looked forward to it. He gave a low grunt, then adjusted. She let his breath even out again, then continued. She spread the kisses on his jawline first, before coming down trouble his shoulders. She bit and nibbled a sensitive bit of skin on his neck and sighed in satisfaction. Her eyes were turning a gradual bright red. No one else in the pack knew. She stood, leaving Aiden on the bed, somehow intoxicated. Her fangs were out as she stood in front of the mirror. Why would mere wolves rule the pack when a hybrid was around? She turned to Aiden. He made her hungry. A hunger she'd never felt before. She snarled at the mirror, then licked her fangs. It had taken little effort to hide who she was, and no one had questioned her origins, since she was older than the present Alpha himself. She had planned so long, waited for so long to take this pack, but now, she was actually going to.

Kaitlyn was sitting in front of the mirror, her face expressionless. Just one day. The moon goddess had given her just one day to be with the love of her life and that was it? Was she to adore and cherish this moon goddess after this? She sniffed. That was a treacherous thought, but she couldn't help it. She couldn't even feel her heart beating anymore. She lay back, watching the ceiling, colored in the hue she could find that was closest to Aiden's eyes. His kisses still made her skin tingle and it was probably the only thing she felt at that point. Her eyes closed, holding his ring between her fingers.

"Take me, back into your arms, my love..."

Chris walked to the window, the sun was high up in the sky. It was late morning. He sighed. Linda hadn't come around, and he was sure he knew why. She was waiting on him to make her Luna. He shook his head. That woman irritated him most times. The only good thing about her was the sex, nothing more. Always found himself doing her one selfish bid or the other, giving he things he wanted for himself. He shook his head. He loved her. Why else would he reject the pack's most beautiful girl as a mate? But what was this love? Wasn't it just the sex and that tenderness he felt for Linda whenever she was going to fall? He shrugged, and an involuntary image of Kaitlyn and Aiden leaning in to each other from the night before flashed through his mind. Aiden deserved to die for that. His lips were unworthy of Kaitlyn’s and... He stopped. Then whose was worthy? He had rejected her for Linda. If he had seen Linda with someone else in that position, how would he have felt? He searched his heart. No emotion found. He shook his head, clearing the thought before it even settled. He loved Linda. Not Kaitlyn. He only wanted Kaitlyn for the position, and hadn’t been thinking clearly when he rejected her. That's all. He didn't feel anything for her. "Beta." It was the calm voice of his Omega. He turned to the man. "Yes?" "There is a message for you from the alpha." His brows furrowed. The old man wanted to give him another earful? "What's the message?" The man removed the scroll, with the unmistakable stamp of the alpha on the bottom right corner. He wished that stamp would belong to him one day. And Kaitlyn too. He shook his head again, ignoring the questioning look on the Omega's face. "Read." The omega nodded and cleared his throat. "Beta Chris. I do not know what you have done to Kaitlyn, but its for your best interest that you undo it." The omega closed up the scroll and tucked his hand behind him. "That's it?" The omega nodded. Chris sighed. "We are going to the alpha right now." The omega nodded and walked out.

"Don't tell me that your love is gone..."

Kaitlyn woke up violently, images of blood and teeth destroying her sleep. Her chest was heaving and the sweat on her hairline made the hair there cling to her skin. "Aiden." She felt like he was in danger and needed her, but where was he? Where had Linda taken him? She not down on her lip. She had to do something. She dragged herself out of bed, running through the stairs out of her room. Her booty caught in the side of the stairs, and she tripped, falling right into Chris's arms.

He'd never felt that way about Kaitlyn. Or maybe he just didn’t pay attention. But when this woman looked up, her blonde hair somewhat covering her face, and she tucked it in, her eyes holding none of the disdain she always seemed to have around him, her eyes only carrying tenderness, the only thing his mind could register was, "this is love. This is it." His heart beat was irregular, but he couldn't take his eyes or hands off her, even as she straightened. His hands lingered on her waist, even though now it seemed awkward. "Chris." Moon goddess, his name. The way his name left her lips. He tried to say something, answer her, but all he could do was stretch his hand out, one knee automatically going down. "Marry me, Kaitlyn."
