Chapter 74: Chapter 74
Freya
"Why is she here? "I asked, my expression displaying anger and coldness. "What's wrong?"I turned to face Jeremy, who startled out of his slumber upon hearing my boisterous voice. He scowled at me, a chilly expression on his face, while I gave him a puppet-like glance.
"Who is here?" I sighed heavily, not wanting to let Lucius know that Selene was here when he inquired.
I said, "I hope I didn't disturb you," thinking it would be sufficient to get him to forget what I had said.
Before he interrupted, I had intended to send her away, and I knew that if I had kept my mouth shut, this would not have occurred.
"What's the cause of your exclamation?" He inquired, casting a frightened, concerned glance at me. He always shows me love and care, and that's what I adore most about him. I want to spend all of eternity with him.
I said, "I was told that Mable is at the pack border," and he gave me a startled look. He was so furious that he moaned in agony as he attempted to get out of bed.
As soon as I swiftly helped him up and placed him back on the bed, I added, "Please be careful." Knowing that he didn't want to see her, I grinned to myself. I could tell by his appearance and demeanor right now that he was not pleased to hear of her coming. I'm not sure why, but the fact that he no longer wants her makes me pleased and excited.
"What's wrong?"Pretending not to know, I asked. He studied for a moment, then cleared his throat.
"What's happened?" he said, and I gave him a perplexed glance.
He inquired again, "Where is she?" and I sneered to myself.
I said, "She's at the pack border, of course," and he gave me a chilly stare in return.
He said, "Why is she at the pack border by now?" and I gave him a perplexed look.
"What do you mean?" I questioned him, feeling offended by his remarks in some way.
He added, "She should have let me in," and I gave him a chilly stare in return.
"Why should she be let into the pack anyhow?"
"What do you mean?" "Why can't she be allowed to join the pack?" He questioned, attempting to look calm despite the fact that it was clear he was already furious. For what reason is he upset? Is she the reason he's angry? That was a question I asked myself, but I was unable to find the answer. My attitude toward him shifted when I thought of her.
"Yes, she shouldn't be let into the pack because she's an outsider," I replied.
"She's not an outsider," he stated, his expression icy. Why was he upset when I brought up Mable's talk, I wonder? I believe there is a problem.
"Why isn't she?" "You broke up with her, right?" When I asked, he gave me a sharp look and nodded his head.
"Yes" was his reply.
"
"What is she to you?" "Do you still have feelings for her?" When I asked, he gave me a startled expression. Clearly, my question took him by surprise.
He questioned, "Why are you asking?"
I responded, "Because I wonder why you're working yourself up because she was kept waiting at the pack border," and he sighed and turned away.
"What is she to you?"I inquired once more. This time, he let out a moan and displayed a disappointed expression.
"She's my girl," he began, pausing in the middle of his statement to realize what he was going to say.
"What do you mean?" "She's your what?" I asked in a tone that was both angry and frigid.
"She's nothing to me, okay?" He put her to sleep, saying, "You can send her if you want; I don't care." I gently brought him back to my chest.
"I apologize. I responded, "I don't want you to be in pain," and he gently nodded. Please don't be irritated.
"I should go meet her," he said, attempting to stand up. Taking his health into consideration, I gently drew him back. Nothing bad could possibly happen to him.
Since he was harmed at my place, I understood that this wasn't a smart idea and that letting him go would simply put his life in jeopardy.
"I would have let you go, but I can't see you this way." I answered, "I would go myself; don't worry about it," and he gave me a gentle nod.
He continued, "Please try to be nice with her," and I gave him a chilly glance. My look changed to a smirk as an absurd thought occurred to me.
"Okay, I would." I laid a gentle kiss on his forehead and murmured, "Bye."
I jolted out of bed and straightened my clothes. I moved in the direction of the door. I turned the knob and pushed the door open.
With a frown on my face, I moved toward the perimeter of the pack, curious about what was ahead. It's unbelievable that he would want to harm himself in order to get even with Selene. I decided to find out why she was here and what she wanted because it stung to know that he still harbored feelings for her.
With a blank expression on my face, I brushed off the pack warriors' welcomes and walked toward Selene.
I gave an authoritative "Follow me," and after giving me a long look, she did as I asked.
I was aware that speaking in front of the pack warriors would be inappropriate. And I started the chat as soon as we were well out of range of the pack members' hearings.
"Why are you here?" I glared at her, asking in a nasty way.
She responded, "I came here since I heard that Lucius was attacked and he got seriously injured," to which I scoffed and grimaced.
"You think I will believe that? Why are you here?" I released my auras and asked her again, this time with a serious expression on my face.
She instinctively dropped her head, trying to fight against the energy, but being an omega meant she was powerless against it and eventually caved in. After a while, she lowered her head, and I ceased emitting my aura.
She continued, innocently, "I came here to stay for some days to take care of him; I was worried about him," but I couldn't help but think she was hiding something.
Even though I knew she couldn't fool me with her innocent appearance, I still had to give it some grace and would stop at nothing to ensure she didn't complete the task at hand.
I said, a menacing expression on my face, "I have my eyes on you, and don't you dare try to misbehave with him," and I extended my claws before pulling them back.
I started toward the infirmary, and then all of a sudden I stopped, and she stopped, too. I stared at her from head to toe, then turned to face her. Although I am unable to physically touch what is happening, I can sense that something is different.
"How long do you intend on staying?" I looked at her and asked.
I'm not sure why, but I worry that Lucius would date someone like her since I know she couldn't possibly have good intentions. I doubt that was her true aim, even if she had stated that she wanted to take care of him. Since Lucius has already caused her pain, I don't see how she could possibly wish to aid in his speedy recovery.
She added, "I will stay for two days," and I let out a deep breath, realizing that I would have to find somewhere for her to sleep.
With a grimace on my face, I answered, "I will prepare a room for you, where you will stay," knowing that I shouldn't trust someone like her. Under the green grass, they are described as green snakes.
As I opened the door to his ward, I remarked to her, "You shouldn't misbehave," and she gasped when she saw him laying on the bed with bandages all over his body.
With a troubled expression, she hurried over to him. Although it seemed that she was truly worried about him, I realized that what I was seeing was not real.
"Lucius, how are you doing?" I gave Selene a sly glare in response to her question before moving to take a seat next to Lucius.
