Chapter 73: Chapter 73
Freya
I was shocked to learn that the werewolf council was participating, even though I was the only one who knew that no one could possibly believe it. I also realized that I can never fully trust anyone. I made the decision to withhold my findings because I was aware that my confidence might be betrayed in an instant. I was aware that using the information as bait might enable me to apprehend the offender; therefore, I didn't want to let them know that I had it.
Even though I was having trouble understanding what had transpired, I understood that the rogue's demise would also be beneficial for all of this. I'll see to it that my discoveries are only shared with Lucius and my beta. I was aware that we might not be able to identify the offender if the others found out.
"I need you to dispose of the body of the rogue." I said, mind-linking a fighter from the pack to dispose of his body.
I left the place covered in blood, and everything belonged to the rogue who had died. I felt a little glad that Lucius was not in the hospital, but my face was ice cold. As I moved in the direction of my chamber, my eyes became stern. I find it uncomfortable to consider Lucius being in the hospital, but I am powerless to change it.
With no intention of wearing them again, I entered my bathroom and tore off my clothes. I was aware that the garments would serve as a constant reminder of today's occurrence if I continued to wear them. After a long period, I took my sponge and scrubbed some soap on my skin, letting the water gently touch my flesh and letting out a heavy sigh. I used the sponge to scrub my entire body.
I tried to stay cool and let out a quiet sigh as I unwinded under the shower. I was aware that my parents would have been anticipating my reaction to the incident, and I will provide them with all the information they require. They should be aware that a council is engaged, and I have faith that my parents will work with me to resolve any issues. They would assist me in all of my endeavors.
I put a towel around my waist and left the restroom. My eyes widened as I considered Lucius's predicament. After getting dressed, I made my way to the location where my parents had instructed me to meet them. As soon as I entered, I noticed that everyone was gathered in one area.
They all turned to face me, looking pitifully, which I don't think is necessary. I sighed, slightly enraged, because I could not bear the sorrowful expression in their eyes.
"Are you alright?" I fumbled with the tip of my lips as my mom asked.
"As you can see, I'm fine; let's just get straight to the point." "Is this the reason you requested a meeting at the inn?" I didn't mean to sound conceited when I said it, but what had transpired had caused me to do so.
I apologize for the tone I used in our conversation, but I'm not feeling well, and both my parents and my beta seem to be understanding of this.
The inn is somewhere secret that only the beta and alpha know about; it's meant for personal matters that we don't want anyone to know about or to snoop on. Since the inn was constructed underground like a dungeon, no one can see its building, and it is not a well-known location. There was a room that could be entered, but it was concealed by a cabinet with strange lettering on the wall.
Everything would need to be done in order for it to open, and since the cabinet had books that were placed inside, nobody would notice.
I agreed, knowing I had no choice but to tell them everything that had happened. "Let's get straight to the point; I would like to know more about all that has happened," my dad remarked.
"Lucius was attacked some weeks ago by some rogues, and I was there to save him from the hands of the rogues." I took that lightly and neglected to make any kind of backup plan. With a pause, I looked at them to make sure I had their full attention. "I did think that nothing would happen to him or that we would be attacked," I said.
I could see the look of amazement cross their eyes as I stated, "I had tortured the rogue who was caught by me, and it turned out that he was sent by a member of the council of the werewolf," and they murdered themselves without telling me the whole story.
"This is more serious than I thought." Samuel yelled, "It seems I was wrong; I had thought we were only after a pack of rogues who were after him." I rolled my eyes.
"There is something more to it than you think; the person after Lucius knows about his powers; the person isn't after him because of you; the person wanted to hunt him down." My dad said, "There seems to be something between the two," for the first time since I got there. Knowing that what he was saying was accurate, I nodded.
My dad nodded his head in response to my mom's question, "Are you trying to say that there is a connection between the both of them?"
My dad said, "The person is a member of the council, and that fact implies that whoever acted out of line when the duel was still going on must be the one." I couldn't help but think of the person who had done inappropriately, and Alpha Thorne was the first person that sprang to mind.
I stated to them, "I have someone I suspect," and they gave me a curious look.
"The person I suspected is Alpha Thorne; he seems to be working with Alpha Aiden." I started to say something, but a happy voice abruptly interrupted me.
"Alpha, your mate is awake, and he requests for you." Through the mind link, I heard the doctor's voice caring for Lucius.
That moment, I felt my heart leap with excitement, and a smile appeared on my face. It seemed astounding to me that there was still positive news. My parents had a puzzled expression on their faces as they gazed at me through tearful eyes.
I told them, "My mate is awake, and I need to be by his side," and I left the inn without realizing I was in the middle of a meeting.
A tiny smile slipped over my lips as I headed into his room and discovered him soundly asleep. He was looking up at the ceiling when I walked over to grin at him. Knowing that he's returned makes me pleased, and I can't help but smile.
"How are you doing?" Grinning broadly, I questioned him as I sat down on the bed.
He said, "I'm getting better, thanks to someone," and I laughed.
"It isn't funny the way you acted out there; are you planning to get yourself killed?" "You should have let me handle them; I don't like seeing you hurt like this." I started to say that, but a mind-link stopped me.
The chief of the border guards spoke, "A lady has been caught at the pack border with the name Selene Temptress; she said she would be let in," and I felt my heart stop since I had no idea what was going on.
