Chapter 16: Chapter 16
Freya
I walked out of the training ground calmly, with dangerous auras radiating around me. I could see the pack members bowing their heads as I walked out of the training center. I wore a cold look on my face, and those who stared at me directly in the eyes shivered before bowing their heads. I was glad that I made up my mind to blow out some steam earlier, and I couldn't help but be happy. I knew for a fact that no matter what happened, I would always be myself.
I won't force myself on him, nor will I try to break them apart, but I'll be glad if he were to come to me, though I doubt that will be possible. I knew with no doubt that I could never accept him as my mate. I knew that I might want to change my mind if anything happened, but I'm looking forward to whatever would make me want to accept him.
I cleared my mind away from him with the intention of finding the culprit. I need to find out who the person was who was responsible for what happened. I would make the person pay. I'll make the person pay for making me humiliated by my friend. If it had been other people who had humiliated me, they would have regretted it, but his case was different. I am already on his bad side, and I doubt if he will ever trust me again. I knew that he might not want anything to do with me again, and I don't want to make things worse.
I knew that he said he hated me, but I know for sure that he doesn't. I knew that he was saying all that because he wanted to hurt me. I knew there was no way the mate was only acting on me. I knew for sure that he also felt attracted to me, but the fact that he was engaged made him withdraw from me.
I sighed heavily as I made my way towards Seraphina and Samuel's offices. I knew they were in the office working on the paperwork I was supposed to do. I knew that I would have to return to my old self in order to start doing all the things I have always needed. I met both of them working their buttocks out with sweat on their bodies. They didn't know when I entered the room because they were both too engrossed in what they were doing to notice me. I cleared my throat, and they both looked up, and they bowed their heads immediately when they saw it was me.
"Good morning, Alpha," they both said in unison.
"Morning, I need your help," I said, and they both stared at each other before turning to look at me with a naughty smile on their faces. I knew instantly what they were thinking, and I stared at them with a surprised look on their faces.
"It has nothing to do with that," I knew they taught that I needed their help in helping me set up a place for our date, but they don't know what I have been facing, and I'm glad they didn't. I knew they would be worried and would want to go to him, and I don't want that. I knew that he would strongly believe that I did that.
"I need you to help me find someone. "I need you to help me find the person who leaked it out that my mate was thrown into the cold room," I said, and they both stared at me confusedly.
"Words have gotten out that my mate was thrown into the dungeon by me," I added, seeing the confusion in their eyes, and they both stared at each other with a shocked expression on their faces. They gawked at me for a few seconds before Seraphina decided to break the silence.
"Who the hell would try to do that? Nobody in this pack should ever try to do that, and as far as I remember, none of the pack members knew about it, and only the warriors who you told to guard his room knew about it," Seraphina said, and I stared at her while nodding my head slowly.
I couldn't help but smile at what she said. I knew that she was a great beta and would do anything in her power to get everything done.
"I doubt if I can remember the faces of the guards," I said, and she smiled again. I felt relieved seeing the smile on her face, and that was because I knew she had ways to recognize the guards.
"We should get going now, Seraphina." "We need to catch the person," Samuel was saying, but he stopped all of a sudden, like he just remembered something.
"What are your reasons for doing this?" Samuel asked all of a sudden, and I stood transfixed, not knowing what to do or say.
I wasn't expecting him to ask about it, but I knew that I'd have to answer him since he had asked about it. I wasn't willing to tell him, but I have no choice but to spill it to him.
"Lucius knew of this, and he yelled at me because of this." The rumors have spread out of this pack and have gotten to his birth family, and the worst part is that his fiancee has heard about it and has written to him asking about it. He doesn't want her to know, but now she does. "He blamed me for it and said I let that happen because I want to kill his fiancée," I said, and I stared at Seraphina, who had a scornful look on her face.
I knew that she was angry and would try to tell him what I had just said, but I knew that there was no way I would let that happen.
"Let's forget about that and try finding out who was responsible for spreading the rumors," I said, and I saw her hesitate for a moment. I knew that she wasn't happy with the way he talked to me. I knew that she would be angry, which is why I didn't want to tell her earlier.
I heard her say, "I will make him hear from me after we are done catching the culprit," and I chuckled, knowing how crazy she can be about me. I'm not ready to make her worsen the situation.
"We need to get going; we still have a lot of things to do," Samuel said, and I was glad that he had intervened because I knew that she wouldn't leave the spot she was in without anyone telling her, and I doubt if she will do as I have said. I knew she was someone who loved respecting those who were superior to her, but she didn't have anything to do with me. She treats me like I'm her sister, and I'm glad for that.
"Let's get going," she said through gritted teeth, and I smiled at her.
"You should gather all the pack warriors," Seraphina said, and I stared at her with a raised eyebrow.
"They won't be here quickly if I do that." "It will take long, but if you do, they will be here within seconds," Seraphina explained, and I sighed before I mentally linked them.
They were here within seconds, just like Seraphina had predicted, and I stared at her, urging her to start with whatever she wanted to.
I want her to catch the culprit as soon as she can because I can't bear to see my partner angry at me, and most especially to yell at me.
"I want to know which of you leaked it out that Alpha Freya threw her mate into the cold room," she asked calmly while staring at them with a cold look on her face. She released her auras, and they cowered back in submission.
None of them were willing to talk, but immediately after I glared at them, one of them raised his hands.
"What do you have to say?" I asked, and he stared at me with the corners of his eyes while bowing his head.
"I know who leaked it," he said after a while, and I stared at him angrily. I was hoping he would say what he wanted to say and then we would move on with our investigation, but instead he shortened his word.
"Who leaked it out?" Seraphina asked, beating me to it. I was going to ask him first, but Seraphina did. The warrior in question sighed heavily while making eye contact with another.
"He did; I heard him talking to his mate about it," the warriors said, pointing their fingers at someone at their side, and I stared at the latter.
"You all can leave except him; he will be dealt with seriously for what he has done," I said, and within minutes they all scurried off.
"Thank you, guys, for your help. "I really appreciate it," I said, and they smiled at me.
"Follow me," I said, and the warrior stood up.
As the warrior was walking, he fell to the ground, and I stared around, wondering why he fell down, and my eyes caught sight of Seraphina, who was grinning with a mischievous look on her face.
I knew with no doubt that she was responsible. I didn't do anything to the warriors, even though I felt angry and wanted to vent my anger on him. I had to restrain myself from doing that because I knew how dangerous it would be to go to Lucius's room with him wounded. I knew he wouldn't be happy with it. I knew that, even though we haven't spent time together.
I walked toward his room with Seraphina and her roommate trailing behind me. They both don't know what would happen next if I revealed to him that I'm not responsible, but I also knew that things might go wrong. I opened the door to his room, and I met my parents sitting on the couch that was in his room. I stared at them surprisedly; I couldn't understand what they were doing in his room.
