Chapter 41: Chapter 41

Chapter 40

Garfield West ~

Red got out of the car and in what I felt were tears, she walked away making a few short runs along the way using her witch cap to hide it from prying eyes.

“What did you just do?” a voice said to me in my head. “That wasn’t meant to happen. Not at this point, at least. You have to go after her before she exposes herself!” the voice kept on speaking in my head and for a moment there, I began to think myself insane.

“Who the hell are you?” I looked into the driver’s mirror of the car and saw a different face that is naturally and scientifically meant to show up when I look at it.

“I’m you!”

The face looked identical to mine in some ways but the accent of the voice and the hairy and somewhat lycan-ic nature of the bearer assured me that someone else was somehow, talking inside my head and I’m certainly not going nuts.

‘It’ looked so horrifying but I wasn’t afraid of it. I felt glued to it somehow more like it is a part of me.

“Take a good look at your left arm!” the creature in the mirror said to me.

I turned away from the mirror and looked at my left arm just like the voice said but nothing was there other than the costume.

“What should I be expecting? I don’t seem to see anything besides this.”

“Don’t be an idiot! Take up the sleeve of whatever nonsense you’re wearing!”

I took up the sleeves of the lycan costume and looked again at my left arm.

To my greatest surprise, it was almost completely covered with fur like those of an actual lycan. Am I really seeing this or are my eyes playing tricks on me? I tried using my right hand to run through it and it felt as real as my arm was.

“I know, I have a lot of explaining to do but for now, I need you to trust me. At least now you know that everything I’ll be saying to you is nothing but the truth.” The voice cam again in my head. “Elena is in grave danger!”

“Sure, you have some serious explaining to do you… you… let’s just skip the name. First off, I don’t know how you managed to do this to me but I command you undo it. Second, who is Elena?” I asked psychopathically to the voice who claims to be me.

“Presently, you may know her as ‘Red’. The girl you just gave a kiss on the lips! I wish I could tell you everything but I can’t. You have to get her out of here and to her mother. She and only she can tell you both the truth including why you feel what you do for her.”

“Don’t worry she feels the same those emotions have just been buried in both of you for a long time now but thanks to something that just happened somewhere far away and your kiss, those emotions will sooner rather than later be exhumed in both of you. She’s my mate after all!” the voice said before going silent.

I took another look at my left arm again and it was as normal as it has always been – Human. I got out of the car in my lycan costume and for a few minutes pondered on what had just happened.

It dawned on me that something out of the ordinary was happening and no matter how hard I wanted to wave this whole thing off as some sort of Hallucination, deep down I knew and felt it in my heart that the voice wasn’t a fragment of my imagination because I certainly don’t do drugs.

Deep down, everything going on was real.

I have a lot of questions running through my mind but I flushed them all out just for the mean time with the recall of what the voice had said.

‘Elena who happens to be Red is in grave danger.’

Apparently, now I know that there is something I don’t know about Red and myself. I took a look at the clock widget on my phone and discovered that it was a few minutes until the Halloween festivities where to begin at the school hall. This must have something with her mom not ever wanting her to sing.

This year just like the previous years, the festivities are going to be done side by side with music from Ryan and his band alongside Red which means that I only have a few minutes from protecting Red or in this case, Elena from whatever impending danger is over her by taking her home to her mom.

I locked my car and placed the keys in my pocket. I put on the head-part of the lycan costume. It gave my identity some level of stealth as to who I really was as no one could see my face. Although, it was designed in such a way that while putting it on, I can see perfectly.

The mere thought of Red getting hurt made me hasten my steps to the school hall. I couldn’t imagine something awful befalling her. Not while my heart is in her hands. Not while I knew deep down that I love her so much.

“He’s here!” I exclaimed noticing the convoy of cars labelled with ‘Rotten Apples’. “Ryan is here and that means a lot of people are sure to follow.”

At this point, things are going to be harder than I thought to get to Red. The school hall could contain almost a half a thousand people at max so finding Red as quickly as I wanted would almost be impossible. I was already ten late for the beginning of the festivities.

“No!” I walked into the school’s hallway and began to hear Red’s voice.

Red’s musical voice sounded so much better than the last time it did when she was younger. I got past the Halloween designs put all over the hallway and made my way where everything was to take place. The hall was filled with lots of people in different Halloween costumes. I am going to have to swim my way in the turbulent crowds to get close enough to speak to Red but how sure am I that she would want to hear say more of listen to my voice.

I’m pretty sure that right now, I am the last person that she wishes to see.

“It’s now or never!” I began making my way across the crowd to the stage with my eyes seeking for one figure – My one and only love, Red Adamson.
