Chapter 1545: Chapter 1545

Su Yunjin murmured again.

Like a little kitten, she burrowed into Gu Yan’s embrace. Gu Yan looked at the little wife in his arms with a mix of doting affection and amusement. He simply scooped her up and held her close, letting her sleep nestled in his embrace.

To make her more comfortable, Gu Yan used one arm to support the little wife’s head, letting her lean against him. Su Yunjin felt at ease now and was perfectly obedient, no longer squirming, as she quietly fell asleep in Gu Yan’s arms.

Her hair was still slightly damp, though mostly dry. Gu Yan didn’t dare let her lie on the bed while her hair was still wet, so he continued to wipe it dry for her. Beside them, the fireplace radiated warmth, speeding up the drying process.

The two children had already been carried away by the wet nurse. Since Su Yunjin had planned to bathe and wash her hair today, she couldn’t keep an eye on the little ones and had arranged for the wet nurse to take Little Tiangua and Little Yuanbao into another room earlier.

With the children absent, no one would interrupt them. Holding his little wife , Gu Yan relished the rare moment of solitude, undisturbed by the little ones, cherishing the peaceful time they had to themselves.

Ever since Little Tiangua and Little Yuanbao were born, it was the first time Gu Yan had spent an afternoon alone with his little wife.

Every day, Su Yunjin would have the two children lying beside her during the daytime. Whenever Gu Yan returned, he would always see two chubby little bundles lying next to his little wife.

Thinking about Little Yuanbao and Little Tiangua, then looking down at the petite woman in his arms, Gu Yan couldn’t resist lowering his head to give his little wife a gentle kiss on the cheek.

Who knows how long time passed.

Su Yunjin woke up. Instinctively, she reached out to find the children, and upon realizing they weren’t by her side, she was startled. She sat up abruptly but was held firmly by the waist by Gu Yan, who asked, "Yunjin, what’s the matter?"

"Husband, where are the children?" Having just woken up, Su Yunjin was a little disoriented and hadn’t remembered that she had earlier asked the wet nurse to take the children away. Gu Yan let out a chuckle, his voice doting and gentle.

"Yunjin, the children are with the wet nurse. Don’t you remember? You asked her to carry them away." Listening to Gu Yan’s words, Su Yunjin slowly recalled. That’s right—how could she forget? Today, she was out of confinement and had asked the wet nurse to look after the children earlier in the day.

Her memories of the day only included washing her hair and Gu Yan helping her dry it. After that, Su Yunjin couldn’t recall anything. "Husband, did I fall asleep?" she asked, rubbing her head.

Su Yunjin was still half-awake.

Gu Yan responded, "Yunjin, you’ve been sleeping for an hour."

Su Yunjin was taken aback.

"An hour?" She had actually slept for an entire hour? That long? How had she felt nothing at all?

Gu Yan had been holding a ledger in his hand. While his little wife was sleeping, he had stayed by her side, flipping through the ledger. Now that his little wife was awake, Gu Yan set the ledger aside.

"Yunjin, I hear there’s going to be a lantern festival in town tomorrow. Would you like to go?" Gu Yan knew his little wife had been cooped up for a month during her postpartum confinement. Coincidentally, tomorrow the town would host its annual lantern festival, which was always held during the Lantern Festival after the Lunar New Year.

The annual lantern festival was a lively affair in the town. Crowds flocked in droves, and vendors were far more plentiful than usual. At the festival, people could solve lantern riddles, sample various foods, and watch street performers.

This was also the time of year when the town had the most entertainers and performances.

Upon hearing about the lantern festival, Su Yunjin’s eyes lit up instantly. "Husband, did you say there’s a lantern festival in town tomorrow?"
