Chapter 289: Chapter 289: Attack on the Central Island
"Okay, here’s the plan." Everything went better than Kurami expected. She thought that she would need to attack the Central Fort, where the Demon Lord resided, but everyone accomplished their mission quickly than normal.
"We’ll have one team strike the west side of the fort while another team strikes the eastern side. Kai, some others, and I will hit the main area and handle the demon lord. Then, a small group will find any spirit who is a prisoner or a slave. Understood?"
"Yes!"
"Good. I wish I could use the spirit orbs right now, but they are corrupted, and we’ll need to finish off the demon lord so I can have the time to purify them." Kurami had placed the spirit orbs in her crown, the orbs shrinking to fit the piece of outerwear.
"I got it." Kai took the crown and unloaded a bunch of mana into it, removing the demonic energy from the spirit orbs.
Spirit energy surged from the crown, creating a ripple of energy that stretched throughout the spirit world. The world even reacted to the energy pulse, wishing to go back to the way things were.
"A-Amazing! The power of all four spirit orbs is back to normal!" Kurami placed the crown on her head, and her entire body released a huge wave of energy that caused her body to glow.
Then, all of the other spirits started glowing as well, feeling the power of the spirit orbs increasing their strength. But that wasn’t all. Even the spirits in the fort were empowered by the spirit orb crown as its influence had reached them.
"I’m sure the Demon Lord is aware of our presence, and we do not have the element of surprise anymore, but that matters not as we are protected by the spirit orbs!"
"YEAHHH!"
"With me, my fellow brethren! We shall reclaim our home today!"
’This is so fucking cool!’ Kai decided to help out even more and gave the spirits the opening they needed.
Ten golden magic circles shone brightly like diamonds in the air above the fort. The energy they produced could be felt by everyone there, even the weakest of people.
"What the fuck is going on up there?" A demon asked as he looked into the sky.
"Y-You think the demon lord is testing out a new spell?"
"On us?"
"P-Perhaps."
"No, you dimwhit! Why would she test out a spell on-" The demon was vaporized by a beam of light before they could finish speaking.
The other demon just sighed, knowing he was next. "And I just got a raise." He, too, was vaporized.
The number of demons who were vaporized increased by a hundred each second and lasted for five minutes. Kai didn’t want to kill every demon, so the spirits could have the satisfaction of killing some themselves.
Once his onslaught finished, Kurami ordered everyone to attack.
Hundreds of spirits charged the fort, their power enhanced and their morale so high that it would break a scale. But that wasn’t all. The spirits in the fort felt their power being amplified and knew that it could only mean one thing.
Their desperate and worn-down looks were replaced with a newfound sense of determination and pride. They attacked the demons who put them through hell and rallied together to further drive out their oppressors.
"I’m gonna get more kills than all of you!" Amaya shouted as she rocketed toward the surface.
"As if! I can take out more people in one go than you can." Gwen was not about to lose to Amaya, igniting their competitive nature.
"It’s crazy how I’ll beat both of you," Sasha said as she pulled out her hammer, preparing to strike the ground, her signature move.
Liking the competitiveness, Kyana decided to make a proposition. "Whoever wins gets to do whatever they want with Kai."
"Ooo, I’m in!" Nadya prepared her spells.
"That sounds amazing." Even Cornelia was interested in this bet.
"Why are you all bringing me into this? Don’t I have a say?" Kai was not about to be used as some toy without being involved in the betting process. He could only imagine the horrors his women would try to do to him.
"Of course not. Why would we involve you in our plans?" Kyana said that as if Kai wasn’t invited to a party or something, not as if she planned to use his body for her own wishes.
"It’s literally my body!"
"And?" Gwen said. "Sure, we’re your women, but you’re our man. This is an equal exchange. Deal with it."
"Fine, whatever." He knew that arguing with them wouldn’t lead anywhere, so he just let things be. There were better things to focus his attention on, such as facing the demon lord.
Actually, he wasn’t going to face the demon lord. He wanted to see how powerful Kurami was when she faced him. If she needed help, then Kai would call Barry, and if they couldn’t beat him together, he would take care of things.
Everyone landed and started attacking. The sound of weapons clashing, people screaming, and spells going off was the only thing that could be heard.
The demons, who would normally be a threat to some of the weaker spirits, were not being pushed back by them and were completely trampled by the stronger ones.
"For our brothers and sisters who fell to these bastards! For our sons and daughters who gave up their lives protecting us. And for the reclaiming of our land, you demon bastards will fall!"
"Fight with everything you have!" Karl yelled, slaying demons left and right. "Don’t leave any of them alive!"
"You killed my son! I’m gonna make you pay!" A spirit ripped open the head of a demon, killing the bastard instantly. She then mutilated the body and burned it to a crisp.
More and more spirits took their revenge on the demons, and slowly, but surely, the spirits started to overwhelm their enemies and push them back.
"FOLLOW ME TO VICTORY!" A spirit yelled as they stormed deeper into the fort.
