Chapter 36: Chapter 36

Being with Cassius wasn’t as awkward as I imagined. He has told me about my past self and to know that we’ve been together for years, I just couldn’t get a grasp of it. It seems so unreal. I mean together with a vampire prince, really?

Maybe that is why I feel the most comfortable around him. He is actually very caring and warm, and also fun to be around with. It made me think that there are some vampires who are capable of being good and sincere, not the deceiving kind like the ones I treated like my friends.

“Lilana,” I called her, wrapping the robe around my body. Droplets of water were running down from the tips of my red strands. The steamy water was just perfect for my cold skin. Now that I am reborn as a vampire, I felt a little weird because of my body and how I feel about some things. My skin is ice cold and mostly I sleep during daylight while I feed all night; I find myself having a difficulty sleeping at night. I can be impatient and sometimes I can't control my cravings.

These past few days, Cassius has been teaching me proper ways on how to control my thirst and handle my impatience. He’s been really busy with me and we spend a lot of time here in my room because I cannot be let out yet according to him. He worries about everything, it’s frustrating.

The brunette turned her heels and replied while looking down, “Yes, my lady?”

“Are there humans inside the castle?” I asked, curiously. I walked towards the bed and sat at the edge while drying my hair with a clean towel.

There was a brief silence, “Humans you ask, my lady?”

I nodded, “Yes,” I glanced blankly.

“I am not sure, my lady. The king has always been strict with humans entering the royal castle.” Lilana answered, bowing her head lowly so she didn't meet my eyes.

Lilana left my room as soon as I dismissed her. I waited inside the room for the footsteps to be gone. A smile crept on my lips when Lilana’s footsteps faded. Now, let’s go out of this room for some air, shall we?

As quiet as I could, I turned the door knob and opened the door. I peeked outside the little space to make sure that the coast was clear. I almost jumped in excitement when I found the hallway empty.

Cassius isn’t around me this time so there’s a big chance that I’ll be lost in this castle and I might get in trouble but none of that really matters to me. I am seriously bored and hungry so I think that’s a valid reason for me to get out. I mean, I haven’t talked to anyone aside from him and Lilana. I need some people to talk to or else I’m gonna go crazy at this point.

The hallways were broad, but they appeared to be dark since the curtains were always closed. They seldom open the curtains; they can always use the sun instead of lamps but who am I to suggest? I’m just a poor vampire who happens to be homeless if I ever get kicked out here!

After minutes of walking around, I heard people rumbling and whispering. My eyes widened and looked around for a safe place to hide. I glanced at the big pillars lined up along the hallway. I hurriedly went over to the nearest pillar to hide. The whispers have grown louder, they were talking about someone.

“The lord’s missing wife is in the castle, haven’t you heard?”

I heard a feminine gasp, “Are you certain? How could that be possible?”

“I know! She wasn’t dead after all,” The two servants passed by the pillar where I was standing.

The lord’s missing wife? Are they talking about me? Wait, I am not his wife. He said we were only together; he didn’t say anything about me being his spouse. And how can I be married? That’s ridiculous.

I looked at the far end of the hall where the servants had gone and disappeared. Some servants they are! They have the guts to walk around talking about absurd rumors. I shook my head and proceeded on walking.

Upon walking, my ears were embraced by a soft strum of some instrument. The beautiful melody was coming from the far end of the hallway. My feet followed the angelic hums and halted in front of a huge door. There were roses carved on the wood, I can say that it was elegantly made based on the little details which appeared to be the thin stems of thorns and leaves.

As soon as I opened the door, the music died down in an instant. I saw red strands of wavy hair; the lady’s back was facing me. In front of her was a tall, golden harp. Then, there’s also a wide glass window before us, they opened the curtains this time that’s why the room is fully illuminated. The blue, bright sky appeared in front of us, and on the ground was full of white, soft snow. There were trees standing tall on the east side, and a frozen pool of water which I assume to be a lake.

“Continue, please. It was a lovely tune,” I praised as I stood behind the door.

The lady threw a glance at me from her shoulder, “Who are you?”

“Please call me Feyre,” I smiled

“Feyre?” She repeated.

I nodded, “You are?”

“Rosamund,” She replied shortly.

I looked around the area and I found that it is an old music room with all the instruments to be seen everywhere inside the room. They were cleaned and organized in a way.

“May I sit next to you?” I asked with a smile.

Silence covered the vast room, “If you wish to be alone or you feel uncomfortable I can just leave,” I said, preparing to walk towards the door.

“No,” Her soft voice echoed inside the room.

“Please stay, I would like some audience,” Hearing her say that made my heart jump. She seems like a nice lady.

Slowly, I walked towards the stool next to her. That’s when I saw her pair of mesmerizing green eyes with flecks of browns around them. They were vibrant when rays of sunlight hit them. The lady beside me has a diamond shaped face. Her hair grew naturally wavy and flaming red as her bewitching plump lips. She has an adorable small nose and freckles just lying above her cheekbones.

I applaud when her performance ended, “You’re really talented,”

She smiled, “Thank you,”

Rosamund stared at me for a while before opening her lips, “You look like her,” She said, caressing the silver locket around her pale neck.

My brows shot up, “Who?”

“My mother,” A smirk stretched her crimson lips

.

Rosamund stood up from her seat and offered her palm, “Aren’t you thirsty?” She asked softly.

With the edge of my lips curved up I replied, “I am quite parched,”
