Chapter 12: Chapter 12
The smell of blood lingered through the air mixed with the decaying smell of the corpses in here. It was just disgusting. I had to refrain myself from breathing through the nose.
“Daniel,” He didn’t stop walking towards me with a smirk plastered on his parted lips. I could see those sharp teeth peeking just above his lower lip. My knees become wobbly as I take a couple of steps backward.
“Stop!” I exclaimed with a shaky voice but he didn’t stop.
Daniel had this look in his eyes like he’s about to murder someone and I assume right now it is no other than myself. I let out a shaky breath when my back hit the stone wall and I had nowhere else to go. I’m trapped in the basement with a vampire; can this day get any worse? He’ll probably suck my blood dry and I could be dead by the time Ambrose gets here.
“Please.” I could feel my eyes burning, hot tears began to fall. This isn’t happening.
There’s no way Daniel will murder me here. But hey, Izaac did put me nearly to my deathbed when I agreed on going into the forest with him so technically, you don’t get to trust anyone in this house Feyre!
“Please what?” Daniel bit his lower lip and put his strong hand around my neck.
I let out a grunt, “Don’t...” My breathing hitched when his grip tightened.
“You’re not supposed to be here, Feyre.” A steamy breath fanned my ear.
Then I felt cold, sharp fangs just grazing my skin, caressing my neck. Now I’m just waiting for him to pierce them deep in my flesh. I shut my eyes tight. I almost forgot. The people in here are nothing like me, they are predatory animals that feed on anything with blood.
“Daniel.” A loud, thunderous voice filled the basement.
Izaac practically ripped Daniel off of me and threw him on the other side of the basement. A loud thud hit the wall before he landed on the wet ground. A warm touch gripped me tightly and there I lost it; endless sobs escaped my lips and I just found myself leaning on his chest.
“Are you alright? Did he hurt you?”
I shook my head, “No.” God, I really thought I would die today.
“Let’s get you inside.”
Wiping the petty tears off my cheeks, I followed Izaac in the castle. Nah, not today! I’m not going to die today. I’m afraid the garden has to wait. Now is definitely not the time for me to clean it.
Izaac led me to my room, “Thank you.” I said in a low tone. He saved my life but I still won’t forgive him for the incident that happened last time in the woods.
He nodded before excusing himself to his room.
“I should take a bath.” The foul smell still lingered on my clothes. Not to mention, I can still feel Daniel’s grip on my neck. That bastard! I will never forgive him for what he did to me.
I stripped off my clothes in front of the mirror. I touched my neck to see any bruises and gladly, there was none. I will seriously inject Daniel with my blood so he can go straight to hell for all I care.
My hand gripped on the sink when I felt something swirled inside me all of a sudden. My mouth found the sink and I puked.
“Oh my god.”
It was blood in its darkest shade. This isn’t the first time that I felt this sick. My body became weak and I held onto the wall for support because my legs won’t stand still. Suddenly I felt dizzy. What’s happening to me?
On the mirror I saw myself and dare I say I looked awful. My skin became paler than before and my lips were dry. It was only for a minute and after that I was fine. I just need a nap, I guess. So after I took a quick warm shower, I helped myself to bed.
I woke up at the sound of howls outside my window. Hurriedly, I got up from the bed and walked to the window. Hm, werewolves. I looked up and saw the full moon hiding behind the gray clouds.
Looking at the forest, a familiar face ran in my mind.
“Cassius,” I mumbled his name like my tongue was used to the word.
I never saw the stranger again. I wonder, where is he now? Is he still hunting around the area? I don’t know when I will meet him again. He’s really fun to talk to.
Glancing at the wall clock of my chamber, a heavy sigh escaped my lips. It’s midnight. Was I asleep that long? My, I didn’t know my body was that tired. I shall sleep often from now on; my body needs all the rest it could get.
I can’t sleep again. I just woke up. “What to do now?”
My eyes landed at the closed book on my table. It’s the book from the library that is about the town of Emberton. I haven’t found anything informative other than the map and the founders of the town.
Maybe I should just head out? Nope. Not a good idea. Being outside is too risky. I don’t want another wolf pouncing at me or me unintentionally killing them with my blood.
Hm, I’ll just go to my usual place then?
I turned the knob of my door quietly and headed out. After a few minutes of struggling and bumping on each wall and halls because it’s too dark in the castle at night, I found my usual spot; at the balcony where I can roam my eyes around the whole place. This spot has an amazing view of the forest and the night sky. I usually come here at sunsets after an exhausting day of cleaning.
The castle’s balcony is huge, way bigger than my room. There’s nothing in here aside from the ivy vines covering half of the castle’s stone wall.
My arms leaned on the stone rails and looked around the field. Inhaling the cold, fresh air while admiring the view is just as relaxing as it sounds.
I heard someone whisper in the thin air. My body shivered at the thought of a ghost. I should go back inside, right? Yes, I should.
“Feyre!” It was a manly voice, rather husky. Is it a male ghost? Perhaps, it is a vampire ghost from centuries ago? Hell no, I’m heading back in.
