Chapter 138: Chapter 138

’Huh? Veil! Oh shit! That’s right. I fucking have a veil!’ Zen almost felt like facepalming himself but before he could even think of doing any other thing, the beast had zipped forward again, faster than before.

A gust of wind was thrown up as the wolf beast crashed landed into where Zen lay a few moments ago. Thanks to his keen observations due to years of gaming, he was able to quickly recognize that the beast was just moments away from moving.

Due to the twitch in its legs, he was quick enough to realize this and immediately roll over avoiding the beast from crashing into him and turning him to a pulp.

Standing around a metre away, Zen held out his hand into the air and a small tear in reality appeared which only he could see. Sparks crackled around his hands and soon enough, it looked like his hand went through a small hole in the air and withdrawing his hand back, he gripped his sword.

"Hey you ugly bozo!" Zen called out loudly causing the beast to spin around and see the Reaver with his sword raised in front of him as he took a stance, his legs wide while glaring at the beast.

[Do you want to activate your Veil?]

"Yes." He muttered and almost instantly, the air changed as his eyes instantly turned pitch black, shadows crept from the edges and corners of his eyes filling it up pitch black.

An invisible ripple immediately spread wide surrounding Zen and going five metres wide encompassing the area.

Something strange began happening to the beast. It glanced down and could see that the crackle from its paws— the lightning was nowhere to be seen.

It was flickering in and out for a few seconds. It flickered for about five seconds to be exact and then like when a power outage was abruptly taken, its veil disappeared instantly leaving its paws and body empty and devoid of any power.

It was confused as it began shaking its paws and body trying its hardest to activate its veil but no matter what it did, it wouldn’t activate and that’s when Zen grinned widely.

"How about we try things again properly?" He thundered as he put pressure on his feet and then in a flash, exploded towards the beast almost like a blur.

The Alpha wolf on hearing this, glanced up too late as Zen could be seen in the air above the beast with his sword glinting in the sunlight and he hurled down attempting to slice through the beast.

Even without its veil amplifying its speed and reaction time, the beast was still quite faster than a normal human as it zipped backwards avoiding the attack by the human who crashed into the ground now kicking up a storm of dust that clouded his whole view.

The beast darted forward like a blur into the cloud of dust that was kicked up. Zen was just trying to regain his footing when he saw the beast’s eyes glaring at him then...

He was smashed with so much power that the Reaver could be seen in the air, blood spraying from his mouth almost instantly.

He crashed into the ground, tumbled for a few seconds and then immediately stab his sword into the ground bringing his body to a skidding halt as he coughed out specks of blood, his breathing ragged.

’I must not move away from the beast otherwise my veil would have no effect on it. It must stay within five metres of my sight and funny enough, I only have two minutes left.’

Zen didn’t reply as he quickly shot out of the ground and twisted his body around avoiding the wolf’s strike by the skin of his teeth as its horn sliced through the air where he just was by an incredibly narrow margin.

The moment Zen got his footing, he exploded towards the beast with all the speed he had as he thrust towards the wolf’s exposed furry body and his sword was inches from actually hitting not until it leaped high into the air avoiding the thrust.

’Come on! I’m a fucking B ranked Reaver and I can barely do anything against a B ranked beast?! This is unfair!’ he thundered inwardly as he immediately spun away avoiding the wolf which just crashed into where he stood a moment ago.

He hadn’t even regained his footsteps when the beast darted his way, its horn out front like a ram or something as it appeared in front of him in a split second, horns thrust but Zen was fast as he immediately brought his sword directly in the horn’s path.

The wolf immediately lifted its head causing the horn to latch onto Zen and hurl him backwards but the Reaver immediately grit his teeth as he instantly stabbed his sword into the beast’s back the moment he was hurled.

The wolf howled in pain as the sword dug into its back while Zen didn’t go flying as he dragged the stabbed weapon down trying to tear open the beast’s hide but the wolf forcefully spun around causing the Reaver to lose grip of his sword for a moment.

And he went tumbling away on the ground kicking up small dust as he went until he slammed his hands into the ground bringing his body to a full halt. He coughed out specks of blood again, his head slightly woozy.

He had lost his weapon as it was still lodged into the beast’s body but the wolf seemed not to care as it began scraping its paws against the ground for a second and then almost like a blur, it bolted forward.

[Time before veil deactivates: 60 secs and counting.]

"Activate Soft Touch now!" Zen roared as he immediately dove to the side avoiding the beast’s charge causing the wolf to skid for a few seconds as the young Reaver quickly spun and grabbed two dead beasts by the leg.

[Soft Touch Activated!]

"Take your kin back!" Zen roared as he hurled the beasts with all his strength but the bodies flew with such speed and silence that it felt like it won’t have any weight.

But in three seconds, their weights and full mass returned and their speed doubled as in the blink of an eye, the bodies slammed into the beast with crushing force that the wolf was lifted off its feet and hurled into the distance.

Zen’s second real hit since the fight started and he made it count.
