Chapter 13: Chapter 13
Laura came back from work one certain day feeling tired,she took off her black heels,pencil skirt and cream fitted satin blouse so she could take a shower because she needed it badly at that moment,she got out of the bathroom and went into her closet,she didn't want to wear her nightwear yet because she felt that it was still too early to be dressed in a nightwear so she picked a blue shirt dress

and decided to watch a movie, she went downstairs and headed for the kitchen first to get an apple before going to the indoor cinema
Laura was watching a movie when she felt a presence behind her, she turned around to see who it was and to her surprise Kevin was standing behind the couch, she was shocked to see him
"gosh Kevin,you scared me!"
"I'm sorry,I didn't mean to. I just didn't want to interrupt your movie"
Kevin then sat beside her on the couch
"How did you know I was here?" She asked
"Mary told me that I could find you here"
"Oh right" she replied and turned her attention back to the movie
They both watched the movie in silence,Laura kept wondering if he had come here to watch a movie with her or he wanted to talk
"Kevin?" She began
"I know you didn't come all the way to my house just to watch a movie"
Kevin smiled at her remark
"You know me too well...fine,I wanted to take you out"
"Why didn't you say so?" She asked wondering how he could just comfortably sit down and watch a movie with her when he had something else in mind
"Well we were both enjoying the movie"
Laura just laughed at what he said
"Really Kevin?" She asked still smiling
"I'll go change into something else then we can go out" she then said
"There's no need for that,you look nice this way" he replied
Laura didn't like the idea of going out in what she was wearing because she had no idea where he'd be taking her to and she barely had any makeup on but she didn't want to object
"Trust me Laura,you look beautiful" Kevin then said
Laura smiled at his compliment because she was happy he called her beautiful even with no makeup on,so she shrugged off her insecurities and decided to go out with him the way she was
They were in his car driving to an unknown destination
"Where are we going?" She asked him
"It's a surprise"
"Kevin if it was a surprise then you could've just let me change into something else" she said while pouting
Kevin just laughed at her attitude
"Seriously? You aren't going to tell me?"
"I already told you,it's a surprise" he replied smiling at how inquisitive she was at the moment
"Fine,I give up"
Kevin drove them to the beach
"You could've just told me we were going to the beach" she said giving Kevin a gentle nudge
"Ouch! That hurt" Kevin lied,pretending to be hurt,Laura just rolled her eyes at his pretence
They came out of the car and walked towards the beach
Before them was a table for two lit with candles along with a dinner for two
Laura was surprised, she was really excited to see this,she turned to look at Kevin who was already staring at her
"Kevin you shouldn't have"
"Please Laura,just let me do this,I messed up and I'm sorry,I know this isn't the best way to apologise to you but I need you to forgive me"
"Shhh" Laura hushed Kevin placing a finger on his lips
"I forgive you Kevin,all that happened is in the past now" she told him and they went to the table
A waiter then came and poured some wine into their glasses and they made a toast
They had lasagna for dinner and when they were done with their meal,
they took a walk on the beach holding hands, Kevin couldn't believe that Laura didn't object when he held her hand
She was really excited watching the waves,as soon as it reached her legs she jumped from the sudden contact because the water was cold,she began laughing at herself
Kevin really loved watching her this happy,he began to remember when they used to come to the beach to be alone so that no one could bother them . They sometimes ended up spending the night there,he was lost in those memories when he felt something cold hit him,Laura was laughing at him because he wasn't expecting that,Kevin then smirked and Laura knew what was coming next
"You want water fight,you'll get water fight" he said,his smirk still plastered on his face
"Oh no!" Laura exclaimed and began running away from him
He chased her and they began splashing water at each other,they went on until Laura started to get cold so they stopped. They were both soaked,they sat on the sand for awhile so the breeze could dry them up at least
The night was quiet and the ocean was also calm,they both sat in silence watching the moon
Kevin was now staring affectionately at Laura,she then turned and saw him staring,they were now both staring into each others eyes and Kevin began leaning in until his lips touched hers,he kissed her tenderly and Laura couldn't help but kiss back,the kiss became passionate,Laura wrapped her arms around Kevin's neck and tangled her fingers in his hair,he then made her straddle him,the kiss became heated when suddenly Laura pushed Kevin
"I'm sorry Laura,I didn't mean to" he apologised
Laura felt pity for him and at the same time she felt horrible for betraying Scott this way
"I'm sorry Kevin I can't do this,I'm engaged"
They were both breathing heavily from their little make out session
"Can you take me home please?" She asked him
Kevin felt disappointed but at the same time he felt stupid for trying to take advantage of the moment
Laura began walking away from Kevin but he held her back to stop her
"Laura? Can we still be friends?" He asked staring into her eyes
Her eyes were already teary but she didn't want her tears to fall,she was staring into Kevin's eyes that were also filled with hurt,she didn't want to lose him in her life and she also didn't want him too close to her
"Yes we can" she replied deciding to take her chances.
