Chapter 30: Chapter 30

Cassandra's POV

The next day was the wedding. We dressed up in the extravagant dresses that Amelia designed for us. I wore a coral off-shoulder crepe lace gown paired with a crepe matching satin belt. As I dressed Arielle, I thought about Max, and what he was doing. I was worried about him initially and spoke to Aunt Caroline every day but when I saw how happy Max was with them, I started to relax. Nora was good at her job and took good care of him and he had warmed up to her. I couldn't ask for more.

Tonight after the wedding Julian and I would leave for home. I was happy to be able to go back to Max.

The whole wedding, the reception party was very enjoyable indeed and went by in a daze amidst laughter and enjoyment. Julian took lots of photographs of us and we made so many memories together that I knew I would never be able to forget the time we spent here together. It was almost like a honeymoon on a beautiful resort, only we weren't the ones to get married. I had expected Julian to propose but even after getting ample opportunities, he didn't. By evening, we took our leave and headed home.

"We will go to your home first. We can pack what you need immediately and then pick up Max and go home. Okay?" Asked Julian as I nodded in agreement. Just as planned, Julian insisted that I moved in with him today itself. I knew it would be hectic, going to Aunt Caroline's house to get our stuff, then going to Avery's house to collect Max, and then finally to Julian's house. But he wouldn't listen and I just gave in.

"I will have the rest of your stuff delivered there," he said with a tense smile.

"I'm so glad that we're going to stay together," I told him truthfully as he grinned with relief.

"Are you sure? I'll make you fall in love with me, darling," he said as he kept his hand on my thigh. A tremor ran up my body at his touch. I took in a deep breath to control my urges.

"Hmm," I just managed to say, making him raise an eyebrow at my tongue-tied state.

What could I answer? I was already in love with you Julian. I wanted to admit my feelings to him, but somehow I just couldn't. I was scared. He was too good to be true and I was afraid to wake up and realize that he was just an impossible dream! We went to aunt Caroline's house first and I quickly packed our essentials. Julian helped me to hasten the job. Finally, we were done and he drove towards Avery's house to pick up Max.

"Make it quick, Okay?" said Julian. I nodded. It was already 9 o'clock at night when we rang the doorbell. Nora opened the door and ushered us inside. Julian had already informed them beforehand of our plans. It was late and we didn't have much time at hand.

"Cassie, I'm so glad to see you," said Aunt Caroline hugging me first and then Julian. "I've fed Max his dinner and he's ready. Are you sure that you can shift into Julian's house tonight?" She asked worriedly. Avery came into the room and smiled at me. I rushed forward to hug her close, She looked very tired and disheveled as she wasn't keeping well due to her pregnancy.

"Yeah, we're shifting tonight with the necessities, the rest will be packed and sent later," said Julian to aunt Caroline.

"Congrats Avery. I'm so happy for you. Take care of your diet," I told her while she sat down weakly. Max squealed and rushed into the room, "Moommyyyy, Dadddy, we goo home?" asked Max hugging us both.

Julian picked him up and hugged him to his body and I smiled knowing that he had missed Max as much as I did. "Hey Maxie, I'm so happy that you kept your promise and stayed like a good boy," he said and he did a high five with Max.

"I not cry, I'm glown up, Daddy," said Max making Julian kiss him on his forehead tenderly.

"Yes I can see that you've grown up," he said appreciatively. Max came toward me and I picked him up and held him to my chest.

"I missed you, sweetie," I said, kissing him tenderly.

"Max mish you, mommy," he said, kissing my nose and leaving his drool on me.

Nora came in with Max's stuff and we took our leave, thanking aunt Caroline for keeping Max. Nora sat with Max at the back while I sat in the passenger seat. We were totally exhausted and finally Julian drove us home. Would it be our home forever? I closed my eyes for a moment to say a silent prayer. I wanted this dream to come true so badly.

Max chatted continuously having seen us after so many days. He was too excited to sleep whereas we could hardly keep awake.

We stopped in front of huge white gates of a sprawling mansion and the security guards let us in with a salute. Julian smoothly drove onto the paved pathway decorated with green lawns on both sides, illuminated by lights everywhere, leading to a circular driveway. He stopped in front of a sprawling two-story house, in white, a stark contrast against the dark star-studded night sky.

I couldn't make out much as Nora opened the car door and led Max out. Julian gave the car keys to a man who opened my door. I got down and picked up Max.

"Wher ale we, mommy," Max asked me looking around with wide eyes.

"We are at Daddy's house baby. We will stay with Daddy from now on," I explained as his face broke into a grin.

"I love Daddy's house," he said, making Julian smile indulgently as he led us inside.

The huge carved wooden doors with brass fixtures decorating them led us to a foyer with lots of paintings and two comfortable couches and a circular mahogany table with a small chandelier above it.

The foyer led us to the living room on one side and the dining room and kitchen on the other side. There was a huge staircase leading to the upper floors. Julian led us upstairs to a nursery with cute Disney Mickey mouse furniture and a car-shaped bed which Max loved immensely.

"This car is your bed, Maxie," said Julian as he helped Max climb in.

Max was excited yet sleepy, "Daddy, I love car bed," he squealed in his baby voice. Nora brought in Max's clothes and accessories, and I changed him. I fixed him his milk as Nora went to fix us a quick dinner. It was 10 o'clock already and she had to go home.

"Thank you, Julian, I'm overwhelmed, Max loves his room," I said, staring deep into his eyes. I was touched by everything he did for me and Max. He chuckled, "Thank me some other way, darling," he said with amusement in his eyes, making me blush but I rolled my eyes thinking of his horny state again after what we did at the resort.

Nora brought us our dinner in Max's room since we didn't want to leave him alone on his first night here.

Afterward, Julian went to the master bedroom to freshen up while I tried putting Max to sleep. After 15 minutes, he finally fell asleep and I tiptoed out to the adjoining master bedroom with my heart thundering in my chest knowing the insatiable guy who was waiting there to devour me.
