Chapter 114: Chapter 114
Claire's POV
The next morning was the most hectic day of our lives. After a hot shower together, and lots of lovemaking in the shower cubicle, we finally emerged from our room. We walked hand in hand to the little cafe near the lake for breakfast. Jason showed me the venue where the wedding ceremony would be held. It was a beautiful rose garden at the end of the clubhouse, where an elevated area was being decorated. Here, Jordan and Jennifer would exchange vows under the arbor which was being decorated with fabrics as we passed by. The floral decorations would be put up at the last minute since the ceremony was timed to coincide with the sunset. Seating arrangements on the lawn and Clubhouse Terrace would afford guests an excellent view of the fairways as well as the nearby lake with its sparkling fountain.
"So it will be a sunset wedding? I think, I too want a sunset wedding," I told Jason and he smiled.
"Sure, love. Anything to make you happy," he said tenderly.
Sounds of cars filled the air and we stopped to see lots of cars in the driveway at the same time.
"Looks like everyone is here,' said Jason. True to his words, aunt Sarah, uncle Kevin and a lot of Jason's relatives emerged from their cars and proceeded toward the resort to check in. Jason's parents smiled seeing us and came toward us.
"When did you two arrive?" asked aunt Sarah, completely shocked to see us.
"Yesterday, mom," said Jason, scratching his head with a goofy smile on his face.
"You guys have been here since yesterday while Jordan and Jennifer are missing. They aren't even picking up my call. How irresponsible can Jordan get?" said aunt Sarah, flailing her arms in frustration.
"Stop worrying. They'll be here by tomorrow if not today," said Uncle Kevin. "So are you two enjoying yourselves?" he asked me and I nodded.
"Yes, uncle Kevin. This place is so good," I said and he nodded. "When is my family coming down?"
"Maybe by evening," said Uncle Kevin.
"We're going for breakfast. Are you going to join us?" asked Jason but his parents declined.
"You two go ahead. We have to check up with the checking in," said his dad. They walked towards the reception arguing about Jordan and Jennifer while Jason sighed and caught my hand.
"Let's go," he said, pulling me towards the cafe. However, after ten minutes, his parents joined us for breakfast. Jason glanced at me and I knew what was on his mind. Maybe he wanted to announce our engagement and then our wedding plans right away instead of waiting till Jordan's wedding.
'Do you have any news to give us, dear? your family will be here by evening and I would like to have an answer to their queries," said aunt Sarah, eyeing my engagement ring.
Jason cleared his throat and caught my hand while his parents waited for us to make an announcement.
"Mom, dad, Claire, and I got engaged to each other last week!" he said, looking a little nervous while I couldn't hide the blush that stained my cheeks.
"Oh, that's awesome news!" exclaimed aunt Sarah, getting up from her seat to come over and hug the two of us. Even uncle Kevin looked relieved and happy.
"Congratulations to both of you. I'm proud of you, my boy. I knew you could do it while Nate seemed to have his doubts. I won, this time," he chuckled, looking excited. He took out his mobile phone to boast when aunt Sarah stopped him.
"Don't spill the news already, Kevin. Let them come here and I'm sure they would be happier hearing the news from Jason and Claire," she said. I was perplexed by it all. Uncle Kevin and dad were worse than kids.
"Congratulations, my dears. So when are you two thing of getting married?" asked aunt Sarah, going back to her seat to eat.
"Two weeks later, mom. Can it be made possible? I think we've wasted enough time," said Jason while I gaped at him. I remembered that he had mentioned that he wanted to get married in a month. So what changed all of a sudden? I decided to ask him later when we were alone.
"I don't know son. It all depends upon where Nate and Audrey want the wedding held. Claire's gran cannot travel much and therefore there's a possibility that the wedding might be held in New Jersey," said aunt Sarah while I listened with wide eyes.
So we waited for my family to arrive so that we could announce our plans to them as well. Strangely, Jennifer and Jordan were still missing since they had gone to Huntington Beach for their pre-wedding bash with their friends. It was dinnertime when my family arrived. Jason and I rushed forward to welcome them while aunt Sarah and uncle Kevin followed us out.
"How are you now, Claire?" asked mom and I hugged her.
"I'm fine, mom," I said and she smiled at me.
"You're looking well too," she told me.
"Nah! She's glowing, mom," said Tristan with a wink at Jason. "And so is her ring." My jaws dropped hearing the cheeky guy. How did he notice when mom hadn't? Stefan, Adrian, and Julian came forward to inspect while Jason chuckled. I was embarrassed beyond words, too tongue-tied to answer any of their questions.
"Are you hiding something dear?" asked mom curiously and I blushed and looked up at Jason for help. Should I tell them or not?
"Let's go inside, aunt Audi. I have an announcement to make," said Jason, leading us all inside. Mom and dad went to their room to freshen up after such a long flight while the boys bugged me for an update. Jason took them for a game of Billiards and I breathed a sigh of relief.
Later we all gathered around the dining table and Jason got up to make an announcement. "I'm pleased to announce that Claire and I are now officially engaged and plan to get married in a fortnight or so," he said.
"That's the news I had been waiting to hear from you, my boy," said dad, looking pleased with the two of us. "Congratulations, both of you."
Everyone congratulated us and we celebrated with champagne and glorious food.
"We will talk to gran and fix the date for the wedding. It can only be held in New Jersey. Can you all travel to New Jersey?" asked dad and everyone nodded.
"Yes we can," said aunt Sarah. They planned on going a week early so that all the arrangements could be taken care of after going there. I stood listening to their excited planning.
"Aunt Audi, Claire wants a beach sunset wedding," Jason told mom.
"Thanks for the information, dear. I'll keep that in my mind," said mom.
It was late in the night when Jordan and Jennifer came in. They also congratulated us but I blushed upon seeing them. They had no idea that I had witnessed their most intimate moment!
We returned to our room and slept cuddled with one another. After all, we crossed another milestone today!
