Chapter 88: Chapter 88
Amelia's POV
We went to the trial area and I took Anna's measurements and noted them down. Suddenly Anna's phone buzzed with an incoming call. Her face brightened up and she took the call. "I'm at the boutique to get my wedding dress. Of course, I'm missing you, Stefan," she said. "I'll give you your daily dose of kisses when you return. Bye," she sent him a kiss and disconnected the call making my eyes widen.
I was too stunned to hear her talk. If she was talking this way to the guy named Stefan, then who was Tristan to her? Was she playing with his feelings? However before I could ask, Anna smiled at me. "That was my fiancé, Stefan. He's in Rome," she stated proudly. I looked at her with confusion. If Stefan was her groom then what was Tristan to her?
"I don't understand. Aren't you getting married to Tristan?" I asked, unsure whether I heard her correctly. I wanted to hope that she wasn't marrying Tristan. Mine? Yes, despite everything, I still loved Tristan and would love to have a second chance with him.
"Tristan?" she asked looking confused, "Oh, no no, I'm getting married to Tristan's older brother, Stefan. By the way, how do you know Tristan?" she asked me suddenly, narrowing her eyes at me suspiciously. Of course, she would be curious since she hadn't actually introduced us but my mind was more on the information she gave out. Relief washed over me hearing that Tristan wasn't getting married to her or to anyone. He was free and available for me! I wanted to dance with joy that he was still single.
I let out a deep breath, relieved and not believing my ears, "I see. So you aren't marrying Tristan?" I asked her dumbly. I felt so elated at her declaration that I couldn't wipe the stupid grin that formed on my face. Anna grinned knowingly, her eyes dancing with amusement. Anyone would be suspicious seeing my reaction. I knew I looked like a schoolgirl going crazy over her first crush but that was exactly how my heart was. It hadn't moved on!
"No, Tristan is like my brother. So, how do you two know each other?" she asked again, not letting go and this time with a knowing grin on her face.
"We went to the same school. He was senior to me though. Then I was sent away to boarding school in England and we lost contact," I told her and she nodded in understanding. Thankfully, she didn't ask any more questions and I quickly completed taking the measurements.
"There, done," I told her. "You can return to my office. I'll be with you in a moment with the sample materials folder. Once you choose the fabric, we could accept your order," I informed Anna.
"Sure, take your time. I'm in no hurry," said Anna and walked away to wait at my office while I turned to go to the storeroom for the sample material folder. I opened the door and went into the storeroom at the back. Walking straight to the cabinet, I had just opened it to get the file out, when I felt a movement behind me. Panicking, I looked around for a weapon but there wasn't any. Should I turn around? What if it was a burglar? However, before I could react someone placed a hand over my mouth and pulled me, crashing my back against a hard chest. My eyes widened in surprise, and I turned my head and looked up, only to see Tristan staring at me intensely. I noted the longing in his dark jade green eyes. There was a strange intensity in them, a fierce need and something else which I couldn't decipher but he had me hypnotized and under his spell.
"Jay, w-what.." my sentence was cut short when he smashed his lips to mine. It wasn't a gentle kiss. as he devoured my mouth, while his teeth gently bit me to make me gasp. Taking advantage, his tongue plunged into my mouth, caressing every recess passionately. His hand tangled into my hair and he gripped my head to angle it well and dominate the kiss. It was nothing like the kiss we had shared eight years ago. This was an adult, sensual, ero*ic kiss that made my body react passionately to him.
The wild kiss left us breathless, as he broke off for a minute to control his erratic breathing only to resume where he left off. He bit my lips as I opened my mouth to him, eager to taste him thoroughly. I kissed him back with equal passion, biting his lower lip and exploring his mouth just as he had done. My hands caressed the soft hair at the nape of his neck while his hands roamed unabashedly all over my body, exploring every soft curve. It brought memories of a younger version of us, kissing in the parking lot of our school. It had been eight long years ago yet the memory of it was as strong as it could be. Tristan still tasted the same, it was as if his taste was branded in my mouth. I could never forget it.
The sound of footsteps outside the storeroom made us tear apart from each other. I was embarrassed by my wanton behavior. How could I be so desperate? How could I throw myself at him the moment we met? I didn't know anything about him. He could be engaged and could have a steady girlfriend. It wasn't necessary that he would continue to love me even after eight years. If he would have loved me, he would have pursued me. I should discourage him, instead of being too eager to jump into his arms. Although it was the most difficult thing to do, I sucked in a sharp breath and turned away from him with flushed cheeks, ready to escape.
The footsteps retreated towards the washroom and I finally was able to release my breath, which I was unknowingly holding. However, Tristan caught my arm, to prevent my escape.
