Chapter 149: Chapter 149
Amelia's POV
The next morning I was extremely dizzy and Tristan was too worried about me. He wanted to cancel all our plans for the day and just stay at the resort and rest. But I didn't want to waste a day of our honeymoon. So after an hour when I felt a little better, I pestered Tristan that I wanted to go ahead with our plans for the day. He agreed finally and immediately after breakfast, we set out for the day towards the coast for a sailing trip to the Saronic Islands.
Tristan told me everything about it and I couldn't contain the excitement, having never done something even remotely similar all my life. Tristan had booked us a luxurious yacht that set sail from the port of Piraeus for the islands and port towns of the Saronic. The yacht had all the comforts of a five-star hotel and soon after a short trip, we reached Aegina and Agistri, the two main islands that were frequented by visitors from Athens. After checking out the attractions, we sailed to Moni, an uninhabited island with a gorgeous beach. We had a picnic there since the place was secluded. I loved the place the most as the beauty of the myriad hues of the ocean and the diverse fauna and flora of the island made me wish to explore it more. After a delicious and authentic Greek meal, we set sail to check out the other places on the Saronic Islands.
"Are you feeling better? Tell me if you feel even the slightest discomfort. We'll return, okay?" said Tristan. I was bowled over by his concern. He had been very attentive and caring towards me throughout the time.
In one of the small towns, I wanted to buy some souvenirs for everyone but Tristan didn't want me to go into the crowded market. "You're overreacting, Jay. I'm fine. I'll just go in and buy a few mementos," I insisted. Tristan looked at the crowd and shook his head.
"No, Amy. You're not going there," he said sternly. We had alighted from our yacht and had wandered into one of the port cities of the Saronic Islands. Suddenly his phone buzzed with an incoming call and he had to take it. I stayed by his side patiently while my eyes scanned the marketplace and the small shops filled with little souvenirs, food items, and scarves that I wanted to buy. A beautiful white and gold handmade porcelain necklace caught my eye and I turned to pull Tristan with me to the shop but he seemed busy on a work-related call. So I just walked over to the shop to buy it.
The shopkeeper was a sweet old woman and she ushered me inside and showed me more such ceramic jewelry. She served me a spoon sweet and explained the Greek tradition of serving them as treats to welcome guests to your house. Consisting of fruits preserved in syrup, she served them to me on a spoon with a glass of water. I loved the ritual and bought a few jars to take to gran and mom. I was sure that they would love it. After buying ceramic jewelry for all the girls back at home, I went over to where I had left Tristan busy on his mobile phone. However, my heart constricted with fear when I saw that he wasn't there where I had left him. Where could he go?
I looked for my mobile phone but it seemed that I had left it on the yacht. Panicking, I looked all around the place but didn't find him anywhere. I was scared and panicked hard. Tristan's loving face crept up in front of me and I couldn't stop the helpless tears from streaming down my face. Should I go back to the yacht? But I wasn't sure of the way. I suddenly started feeling dizzy when the old woman from the shop came out. Seeing me, she rushed towards me.
"Are you lost?" she asked in her broken, accented English. I nodded.
"I left my husband here and went to your shop. He was busy on his mobile phone then. But now I can't find him at all," I sobbed.
The old woman looked at me worriedly. "Call him, dear," she said.
"I don't have my mobile phone with me. I left it on the yacht," I told her. She thought for a split second. "Come inside and sit for a while. I think you aren't feeling well. You can use my phone to call your husband. He will come to my shop to get you," she offered, leading me inside.
I called Tristan's phone but it was busy. Who the hell was he talking to? After three missed calls, I was at my wit's end. Was he not accepting my call because this was an unknown number to him? Maybe he was considering it an important call! With no option left, I called Anna. I remembered her because I had to call her many times for her wedding dress fittings.
"Hello, Annabelle Henderson here," she responded formally after the second call.
"Anna, it's me, Amy," I said as more tears fell from my eyes and a sob escaped my mouth. Annabelle gasped with shock hearing my voice.
"Amy, what happened? Why are you crying?" she asked worriedly.
"I'm lost on the streets of Hydra and can't find Tristan," I told her and she panicked immediately.
"Oh my God! Whose number is this? Have you tried calling him?" she asked me.
"A local shopkeeper gave me her phone to call him but his phone isn't available. Can you please call him and give him this number? I'm sitting at this shop on the street where he left me," she told Annabelle. I told her where I was, and the name of the shop. Annabelle disconnected the call while I waited eagerly.
After five minutes, the sound of cars filled the narrow streets. I peered out of the shop along with the old woman who helped me. We were shocked to see two police cars skidding to a halt right in front of us. Tristan came out of one of the cars, his hair was disheveled, his clothes were dirty and he looked like a madman. The moment he saw me, his eyes widened with disbelief and he ran towards me. I rushed towards him as well, not believing that he had really found me. I was safe, I had nothing to fear now. Tristan had found me! My whole body trembled with tears of joy and I just clung to him, sobbing into his chest.
"Oh, Amy! I thought I lost you," he gasped in an anguished tone as we clung to one another, oblivious to everything around us. We had found one another and that was all that mattered.
"Jay, I thought I'd never see you again," I wept into his neck. He held my face in his large hands and wiped my eyes gently.
"Hush now! You're safe now, you're with me, Baby doll!" he whispered gently. I nodded.
"Mr. Henderson, it's good that you've found your wife. We are extremely sorry that you had to go through this," said a police officer who had climbed out of one of the cars. Tristan finally released me to look at the officer. They shook hands and he climbed back into his car.
After he left, I turned to see the old woman smiling at us. "You two look so adorable," she said with a smile. Tristan looked at her with surprise and I explained how she helped me.
We thanked her and bade her goodbye. As we walked hand in hand towards the pier where our yacht was tied, Tristan scolded me for being so irresponsible. "You shouldn't have gone without informing me, Amy. This is a new place and anything could have happened to you," he said.
"I'm sorry, Jay. I've learned my lesson. I'll never ever go anywhere without informing you," I swore, making him smile.
"Good, I'll do the same with you too. I won't go anywhere without informing you. Does that make you happy?" he asked with a smile. I nodded but my head reeled and I clutched onto his arm. I knew that it was due to the exhaustion and stress that I went through today.
"Jay, I'm not feeling well. Can we go back to our resort, please?" I asked. Tristan picked me up in his arms and carried me towards our yacht. I lay down inside the cabin while we sailed towards Athens.
"Are you sure you don't want to cancel this trip and go home instead?" asked Tristan worriedly. I shook my head.
"No, please. I'll be fine by tomorrow and we could go to Santorini as planned," I told him. Tristan smiled and lay down beside me. We watched the beautiful view outside the window as we sailed towards the port.
