Chapter 97: Chapter 97

Chapter 97 The truth

URIAH'S POV

As I stood there listening to my brother and Tatiana arguing, my brain was breaking into pieces. Some of Tatiana's words were confusing and made me doubt her for quite some time, while Lucius' explanations made me more confused.

I didn't know whom to believe anymore. I wasn't sure whether Tatiana was lying about my brother or my brother was lying. Unfortunately, I had no other choice but to go with my guts.

"Stop talking about my mom as if you know her. You know nothing about my mom. She was brave, unlike yours," Tatiana spat.

"Stop talking trash about my mom!" I yelled at her, pointing my finger at her.

I, then, glared at Lucius while clenching my fist.

"You talk about Mom as if you cared about her so much," I said.

"I do care about Mom. What makes you think that I don't?" Lucius asked.

The nerve he got to even talk about Mom as if he really loved her made me want to choke the living life out of him.

"If you really did, why did you kill her? I saw how you mercilessly killed her. You slowly clawed out her heart as you watched her bleed to death. She kept begging you, but you did not listen. You found out that if you killed Mom, you would be The One!" I spat.

Tatiana showed me what happened during the great war. Lucius was correct. I was in the safe house at that time. I wanted to fight alongside Lucius, but our dad ordered me to stay. That was the day that I hated the most. I felt so helpless.

"That is not true. That is not what happened!" Lucius denied.

"Lucius, stop trying because Uriah will never listen to you. I already told you that it would be your words against mine," Tatiana butted.

Before I could even say anything, Tatiana motioned for me to keep quiet.

"You know, you two talk a lot. You are both wasting my time," she said.

Then, she snapped her fingers, and I suddenly passed out.

I had no idea how long I was out or what exactly happened after I passed out. All I remembered was what happened when I woke up.

"It was a good thing that your brother was dumb enough to realize what was real and what was not. It was easy to manipulate that dumbass because he was already coated with hatred. All I had to do was pin all the blame on you. Of course, he wasn't there, and any person hurt would easily believe any proof - be it tampered or not. It is easier to blame a living person than a dead one. If only your father had agreed to Lucia, none of this would have happened. My people would have still been alive, and your parents would still be alive as well. Most importantly, you would not have been cursed," Tatiana said.

I could not believe what I had just heard. All this time, Tatiana was lying to me? She was manipulating me, and I easily believed her?

"How dare you!? When will you stop blaming us for what happened to your own coven? When will you open your eyes and really see? Did you really think that my dad would just easily give up his mate? My mom? Are you that stupid? Would you have given up your mom without a fight if you were in my position? For what? For a stupid hunch and hunger for power? You should be blaming Lucia! Lucia wanted more power. She wanted to be the God of the universe, so she believed in The One. It was something that was never true." I heard Lucius exclaim.

The One...

I had heard about it a couple of times already. According to the rumors, some say that someone possessed special blood powerful enough to make any creature the strongest among all. As far as anyone knew, no one had ever heard or seen The One.

"But what if Lucia was correct?" Tatiana argued.

Was this witch delusional?

"Even if she was, it was wrong. Do you expect us to just simply hand over the person we love so that you can turn them into a blood machine? Tell me, if Lucia wanted to turn your mom into some blood machine, would you let her?" Lucius asked.

"Of course not!" Tatiana exclaimed.

"Then why did you expect us to give her up without a fight?" He asked.

I wanted to get up from the ground and confront Tatiana when they were quiet for a couple of seconds. Just when I was about to open my eyes, Tatiana spoke.

"Well, I should have been lucky that it was not my mom. I was only unfortunate because my mom was not quick enough to cast a spell to protect herself from Lucia's dark plan. Because of that, you are to be blamed. If it weren't for your mom, Lucia would not have thought of even binding all of our lives together. My family would have still been alive," she said.

"Tatiana, can you hear yourself? You just admitted that it was Lucia's fault, but you keep blaming me for it. Why? What did I do that makes you think I deserve to be blamed?" Lucius asked.

"If only you stopped your mom from killing herself during the ceremony, none of the witches would have died. My family, friends, and my coven would have still been alive. No! You were such a selfish person and only thought about your own family! You knew what would have happened if she killed herself during the ceremony, but you didn't care anyway," she spat.

At this point, I was done. I have heard everything I needed to hear and had had enough.

I never thought that I had hated my brother for something completely not his fault. I felt terrible.

As soon as I opened my eyes, I heard Lucius scream.

"What's happening? What's going on? What did you do to him, Tatiana?" Maia asked as she ran to Lucius' side.

Lucius crouched on the ground. His bones were cracking as his body transformed into something worse than a beast.

"Unfortunately for you, your time has run out, Lucius. You will suffer living like a hideous monster for the rest of your life," Tatiana sneered.

As I slowly got up from the ground, I took the silver-like knife I got in her room from my boots. I took it from her table and hid it just in case I needed something to protect me.

"Except, you are wrong about one thing - I am not dumb nor stupid," I said, stabbing her to the heart.

"You took advantage of my broken state and used me against my own brother. For a witch, you were pretty dumb to let your guards down when you were with me," I added.

I took out the knife and stabbed her in the stomach.

"This is for using me against my brother."

I pulled it out again and stabbed her on the other side.

"This is to blame my family for everything."

I stabbed her in the heart again.

"This is for my mom. I hope you rot in hell," I said.
