Chapter 9: Chapter 9
Chapter 9 Good news and Bad news
MAIA'S POV
It had been a week since my failed escape mission. He had not come back to the room since. The only person who came to the room was the girl who would always bring me food.
"What's your name?" l asked.
She had been bringing me food for how many weeks, yet I still did not know her name.
She placed my food on the table and looked at me.
"Emily." She said in a low voice.
"How long have you been part of this pack?" I asked.
"Not long. King Alpha found me in the forest three years ago. If it wasn't for him, the rogues would have killed me or used me as a sex slave. He saved me and allowed me to join the pack." She answered.
Her answer took me aback. Before I could even muster a reply, she left.
Once she left, I was alone with my thoughts about my mate. If he was really a kind person - saving a poor lost girl in the woods from a rogue, why was he locking me, his own mate, up? If he doesn't want me, why won't he just let me go?
'You should eat before the food gets cold. You need all the nutrients you can get for the baby.' Avi suggested.
I looked at my food and scrunched my nose.
'What's wrong? Hormones?' Avi asked.
'Yup. Seems like this is going to be harder than I thought.' I replied.
'If we don't get out of here soon, someone will notice. The baby will start having a heartbeat soon. With the extra heartbeat, they will surely find out.' Avi said.
'How do you suppose we do that? Last time we tried, we didn't even make it to the bottom floor. Who knows how far these floors go?' I replied.
For the next couple of hours, my mind pondered over one thought - escaping this hell hole. We needed a foolproof plan to get out of here. In order to do that, we needed to know how many floors this freaking castle had.
It interrupted my train of thoughts when I heard the door being unlocked. I immediately focused my eyes on the door and watched who would appear through the door. A few seconds later, a guy with an aura of power arrived.
"I am Neal, the beta of the Blood moon Pack. I assume you are Maia." he said, introducing himself.
"Looks like everybody knows me." I commented.
"What are you here for? What did you do that made the King Alpha lock you up in this room?" he asked.
"I don't know. I have the same question in my head. He thinks I am an accomplice of whoever was trying to hurt him. I saved his life, and this is what I got?" I replied.
"I see. On behalf of the pack and our King Alpha, I thank you for saving the King Alpha. I'll see what I can do regarding your situation." he said.
He asked me more questions before he left.
After he left, I wondered why he would send his own Beta to interrogate me. What surprised me more was the Beta thanking me for saving King Alpha.
'Maybe we should tell Lucius about the baby. I'm sure he will let us out of here once he finds out that you're pregnant.' Avi suggested.
'No, Avi! We will not tell him or anybody in this castle. We will proceed as planned. Once we get out of here, we will go somewhere as far away as possible.' I exclaimed.
I got out of the bed and walked over to the window. I watched the moon that night from the window in the room as it turned from a half moon to a complete, full moon. Being in this room for so long had made me tread like a crazy person.
I shook my head as the thought of a growling wolf erupted in my ears.
'Really, Maia? Now you hear things? Have you completely lost your mind?' I asked myself.
"Rrwawwwruvhhh."
A growl erupted, followed by a slight earthquake.
'That can't be a dream.' I mumbled to myself.
'You're damn right! We have to get out of here.' Avi exclaimed.
I tried not to panic so that I could think straight, but it was harder than I thought.
*banging*
*doors breaking*
*crashing*
*HHHHHRRRRRRRWWWWWWWWRRRRRRRHHHHWWWWRRRRRRRR*
'SHIT! The sound is getting closer! Avi, help me think!' I yelled.
'I can't think with all this growling, Maia! Where the hell is Lucius, even?' Avi exclaimed.
With the both of us panicking, we were both fucked. None of us could think straight because of the growling and shaking. We, being locked up at the very top of this castle, know nothing about what could be the reason for all the growling and shaking of the walls.
What if there was a war going on? I did not want to die without a fight.
When I heard the door being unlocked, I immediately stood in a protective stance. I needed to protect my unborn child from whoever was at the door.
I was ready to attack when I saw it was Neal.
"Get out of here, Maia. NOW!" He yelled.
I immediately ran to his side and asked, "What the hell is going on? Is there a war happening?"
"No. It's much worse than that. Listen to me, Maia. Get out of here as fast as you can. Run and never look back. No matter what you hear, do not stop running. Run until you are out of those woods and are somewhere safe. Do you understand?" He exclaimed.
I nodded my head, but there were many questions running through my head.
Why was he helping me escape?
What was going on in the castle?
What could be worse than war?
Where was Lucius?
It ripped me from my thoughts when I heard Neal yell.
"RUN!!" He yelled.
I ran down the stairs as fast as I could. I ran and ran until I finally reached the ground floor. Neal said to run and never look back, but when I heard a familiar growl, I stopped in my tracks.
'Lucius!' I exclaimed.
No matter how much I hated him for what he had done, the mate bond had a mind of its own. Thankfully, Avi ripped me out of the mate bond and we continued to run through the forest.
I couldn't remember how long I ran in my human form before Avi suggested she take over so that we can cover more ground. The last thing I remembered was me trying to fight the three rogues that I encountered in the forest.
'Avi, the baby.' I mumbled before darkness took over me.
