Chapter 104: Chapter 104

Chapter 104 Decisions

MAIA'S POV

As the weeks passed, I noticed a drastic change in Lucius's moods. He was always grumpy.

"Woke up on the wrong side of the bed?" Neal asked, pointing at Lucius, who was crumpling papers on his desk.

"The usual," I replied.

"You know that I can hear you two, right?" Lucius asked.

"We know, but we are not scared of the big bad wolf," Neal replied.

I simply shook my head and ignored what he said.

"Are you done with the segregation of request forms?" I asked Neal.

"Yes, Queen Luna," he replied.

"Okay. Let me have the ones that need to be approved as soon as possible," I said.

He placed a pile of papers on my table before heading out of the office.

I was going through the papers when Lucius suddenly spoke.

"Am I selfish for choosing what I want rather than what the people want?" He asked.

I stopped what I was doing and looked at him.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"Uriah," he said.

"What is it that you want and the people want?" I asked.

He let out a sigh as he rubbed his temple.

"The people want me to punish Uriah. They told me that he should be hanged, and some said I should just kill him myself. Others said that they want to do it themselves," he replied.

"And what is it that you want?" I asked.

"I want to sit down and talk to him. He is still my brother. Yes, he made a terrible mistake, but he was also manipulated. You heard what Tatiana said. That should be enough proof that he is innocent," he explained.

"Then, do what you think would be best. Sitting down and talking to him does not mean that it is the final decision, right?" I said, asking about his actions.

"No," he replied.?

"Then do whatever that calms you. Go and get your answers," I said.

He stared at me for a couple of seconds before he got up from his chair.

"Where are you going? Don't you have a meeting with the elders in an hour?" I asked.

"I will be right back by then. I have to do something I should have done a long time ago," Lucius replied.

Before I could even ask for more, he had already left.

I spent the next two hours going through all the request forms that needed approval.?

"Queen Luna! Queen Luna! You have to come quick. King Alpha is on the verge of killing the elders!" One of the guards exclaimed.

"What!? Where are they?" I asked, running towards the door.

"In the study room, Queen Luna," he replied."Mind link Neal. Tell him to go to the study room quickly," I ordered before running towards the study room.?

'I bet that it is about his brother. He has been on edge for weeks now, and the mention of his brother's name can turn him into a killing machine,' Avi commented.

'What else could it be about other than Uriah? Those men are going to be the end of me,' I replied.

As soon as I arrived at the door, I could hear Lucius' growlings. I did not waste any more time and opened the door only to find him choking one of the elders.

"Lucius, stop! What the hell are you doing?" I exclaimed, running to his side.

I held his arms as I tried to pry him away from the elder, who was starting to gasp for breath.

"Lucius!" I yelled.

It finally broke him out of whatever anger spell he was in.

He looked at me and then at the poor elder he was choking before he immediately let go of him.

He pulled me into a hug and buried his head on my neck.

'What is wrong? What happened?' I asked through the mind link.

'He said something about Uriah, and I just suddenly lost it,' he replied.

He sounded really hurt about whatever they said about Uriah.

'Calm down. It's okay. Ssshhh,' I said, trying to calm him down.

As soon as Neal arrived, he asked them to leave. It was just Lucius and I left in the study room. I guided him to a chair and waited until he was ready to talk about what had happened.

"I can't just ban my brother. He is my family. They don't want to listen to reasoning. What is the point of being the King Alpha if they are the ones who are going to make the rules and be followed?!" He exclaimed.

"Well, did you listen to both sides, though?" I asked.

"Of course, yes," he replied.

"Did you really?" I asked again.

He looked at me and gave me a look that said, "don't even think about it".

"Maybe they have an important point that they wanted you to listen to. Remember, they are also worried and still traumatized," I explained.

"It has been a year. A whole fucking year!" He exclaimed.

"Have you already moved on from the trauma of shifting every full moon? Have you gotten over those looks that others still give you whenever they see you?" I asked. He just looked at me and kept quiet.

"Exactly. Stop saying that they should have already moved on from when you are still traumatized by the same thing. They are doing their best, and you should take that into consideration," I replied.

"But they are being unfair, Maia. That is my brother we are talking about, not just any random rogue or what not," He argued.

"I know. Just to remind you, that is also the same guy who killed my unborn child. In case you have forgotten. Every single person in this pack is traumatized, but we never said anything for so long," I said before walking out of the room.

If I said that I was not hurt, that would be a lie. I was fucking hurt because Lucius was justifying his feelings, but others couldn't.

Every time I saw Uriah, my anger arose, and I just wanted to snap his neck right there and then.

For the next two hours, I buried myself in paperwork to forget my conversation with Lucius.

Without even looking up, I knew it was him who had entered the office.

"Come on, Maia. I am sorry. I was an asshole, and I should not have said those things. You know that Uriah is all the family I have left. What was I supposed to do?" he asked.

"I am also your family, Lucius," I spat as I glared at him.
