Chapter 42: Chapter 42

He waits for me to bite on the steak and once I do so, I hum as the taste explodes in my mouth.

“It’s actually very good. Did you make this?”

“For the only woman I have yet to please, yes. I did.” He winks.

I take another bite till my plate is empty and then I look sheepishly at his full plate.

“Are you going to eat that?”

He pushes it to my direction. “It’s all yours.”

“Thank goodness.” I laugh and pour the contents into my own plate before I give him back.

“You really do like my cooking.”

“Yes, this is coming from a girl that doesn’t know how to prepare a delicate meal.”

“Come on, I’m sure your food is great.”

“No, my meals are horrible. I grew up in a pack full of wolves. Of course, I learnt from the bad cooks. I didn’t pay much attention anyway.”

“I’m sure it was from the wolves, not you.”

“Yes, you can believe all you want, I don’t care but all I ask is for another piece of this delicate steak.” I moan and pause when I think of something. “Does my moans make you feel uncomfortable?”

His eyebrows knit together, “No, I’m just happy that you like my food. Why do you ask?”

I lean back in slight disappointment as I take a sip out of my glass. “I have read a lot of stories about alpha’s being aroused when they hear their mate moan.”

“I am not in a story book, Minerva.” He laughs.

“Oh, believe me when I say that you are in a book,” I place the glass of wine back on the table. “I guess this is my cue to leave since the food is finished.”

He grabs my arm before I can stand to my feet. “Let me call in dessert.”

I look into his blue intoxicating eyes and then roll my eyes as I sit still. “Where is the dessert then, and please tell me that you made it too.”

The door opens and a female with a trolley walks in. She slowly drops the tray on the table while stealing glances at Sebastian.

“Thank you.” He smiles in her direction and I sense her breath flutter till she leaves the room.

“It seems to me like you have a new admirer.”

“She is nothing to me-”

“I never asked if she was anything to you. I didn’t ask any question at all.”

“But you’re okay with her staring at me like that?”

“Why wouldn’t I be?” I pull open the dessert and stare at the odd looking substance. “What is this gooey stuff in here?”

I poke at it with my fork.

“I don’t actually know because I didn’t cook that,” He looks down at it and I shrug, closing it back.

“It’s settled then, this is not romantic.” I stand to my feet and he reaches out to grab me again.

“Come on, stay for a while.”

“And eat that gooey stuff on this table? Nah, I’m fine without it.” I say.

“Please… I’ll go bring my own dish by myself this time.”

“Thank you, I’d like that but be quick or I might be tempted to poison your drink,” I conclude and he laughs while I stare at him with a blank face.

“You’re funny.”

“I don’t lie,” I remind him with a raised eyebrow and he hurries away, appearing back in minutes with a new tray.

He drop the other one on the ground as I sit back and he follows. He tries his best not to show how odd it is as he gazes at his drink.

“I didn’t poison it. That’s probably the opposite of what you’re thinking. I’m a fey now, I can’t lie.”

My eyes follow him as I take a sip out of my glass again. “This wine is actually great and please, don’t tell me you made this one too.”

He laughs, leaning forward to open the steamy dish and I blank.

“Is that more steaks and snails. How did you find out these are my favourite.”

“I had to investigate,” He muses and I roll my eyes, keeping the glass down so that I can hold my fork.

“My sister seems a little too easy to manipulate now that she is pregnant,” I cut out part of the dish and drop it on my plate.

“I never said that she was the one who gave me the information.”

I start eating, talking with a full mouth. “I know but that’s what I am saying.”

When I am full, I wipe my lips with a napkin and watch him eat.

“Now, we can talk properly,” I lean in and his eyes watches me in confusion. “Tell me when I get to kill the fey in the cells. I can’t wait to taste her blood.”

“There isn’t going to be any killing of anyone, and when did you like the taste of blood. Don’t tell me that you’re a vampire too, no, that will be the last straw on the camel’s back.”

“I am not a vampire, Sebastian,” I shake my head at his attics, “Your plan to just ‘ask’ is failing. I can get the answers you and I want with a blink of an eye, that will save you a lot of energy.”

“I know you want to help and I do appreciate it but I can handle it by myself, without the view of you bathing in her blood.”

I bang my hands on the table and the plates rattle. He seems unaffected, he barely stops his pace in eating.

“You know what I think? I think that the readers are probably bored by now. They want some action, some blood and the way I see it, I will be super hot when I am bathing in her blood.”

I grin as he stares at me.

“What?”

“Typical,” I murmur, “He doesn’t understand a word I say.”

I stand to my feet and make a show of carrying my purse which I just made appear out of nowhere.

“Where are you going?”

I shrug. “The wine is good but finished. The food was great but I ate it all, and more so, this was actually a bit romantic but what I have in mind isn’t romantic at all. It’s gruesome and would have been very painful for her but you don’t want to give me what I want, so I’m gonna go.”

“Wait,” He stops me as he stands on his feet. “How about we make a deal.”

“What deal? I squint my eyes at him. “If this concerns torture plans then I’m listening.”

He exhales, combing his fingers through his dark locks. “Okay, if I am able to let you in her-”

“You are able to let me in there.”

“Just promise that you will let Finn come with you. He is the most responsible person that I know and he can stop you if you decide to do something st- crazy.”

I step closer, reaching out to slowly stroke his shoulder. “You don’t know how to handle a fey. Am I a handful?”

He doesn’t answer.

“Your silence tells me yes, Sebby…”

“Don’t call me that.” He closes his eyes.

“Sorry for ruining the moment, all Minervas do that. Now, I have to go put on my torture outfit. Please tell Finn to meet me there in five minutes. Thank you, king Sebby.”

He groans, “Don’t call me that either.”

And I laugh.

I round out of the corner, buttoning my cuffs and the next minute, Finn is walking by my side.

“What took you so long?”

“Sorry about that. The outfit I ordered took a while to put on.”

“I’m sure that you didn’t order it.”

“Oh no,” I turn to stare at his smirk, “I stole it. Order is the fancy word I made up in case you asked me.”

He chuckles, “I am still trying to understand you, Minerva. I hope Sebastian figures that out quickly and I also hope you aren’t holding any grudges against him.”

“Those two things are hidden from even me. I just hope Angel Writes knows what she is doing,” I mutter under my breath as we step into the prison, searching for my sister’s lookalike.

“I just wanted to say thank you for… helping out-”

“Yeah, yeah. I know. It was the least I could do for my sister. Besides, I didn’t want you two to break up. I know I have been a jerk to you in the past but you have really made her happy. Much more happier than when she only had me and I’m glad. Thank you.”

He sends a smile to me as Davina’s cell comes to our view. The stench doesn’t invade my nostrils. I made sure to put a protective spell on them so, I can’t smell any awful stench coming from her.

I am 90 percent sure that Finn did the same thing.

I pull my daggers out of my belt and hold them in my hands as I watch the little demon stir awake. She looks almost cute as she opens her blue eyes- identical to my sister’s- and she yawns like a cat. Her blonde hair tangled in dirt and her once envious clothes emerged in sweat and more dirt.

A small smirk never cease to form on her lips.

“Did you come here to ask me about the baby?”

“Sorry for being a party popper but we got all we need. I’m only here to torture you.” I unlock the cell and Finn stands to watch.

“Just go easy on the face. I use it to get the work done.”

I close the cell behind me and take a brief glance at Finn. “Thank you for giving me a starting point.”

When I turn to her direction she raises her hands in the air. “Okay, stop. I’ll answer all your questions without any torture- as you call it.”

I freeze on the spot and glare at her, “That’s not fair. I already took a lot of time choosing my torture devices.”

“Minerva,” I turn to Finn as he calls me, stepping closer, “Why don’t you come out of the cell. I’m sure we can talk properly when you’re out.”

“Don’t worry, I’m not going to hurt her unless she doesn’t tell me the complete truth.”

Finn doesn’t listen to me, he tries to open the cell and ends up flinching back in pain.

“I didn’t say I wasn’t coming out.” I open the cell and he shifts back letting me pass through, “Please refrain from touching these. I don’t know how I will be able to explain to my sister that you’re dead and somehow I didn’t die by touching iron.”

He chuckles, finding it humorous but his eyes stay on Davina. “Now, you’re going to tell us everything.”

“Starting from why you were controlling Sebastian,” I suggest as I cross my arms on my chest and lean on the wall. “Go on.”

Her skeptical eyes watches me, “What do I get in return.”

“Does not getting tortured sound good to you or I should rephrase that…” I begin.

“Alright. Just hold your horses,” She stands shakily to her feet and I almost feel sorry for her. Her goal is to come as close as possible to us without touching the iron bars, and when she has done that, she sits back done with her creepy eyes watching me.

“I never controlled Sebastian that much.”

I squint my eyes at her but choose to listen patiently.

“Magic is a complicated source and if I was controlling him all this time, I would have been so drained and I couldn’t have that so I found a loophole.”

“Angel Writes and loopholes,” I scoff as I mutter under my breath but she isn’t finished.

“I tried to bring out his outermost desire. Grace was the female he also wanted to have and when I found out about that.”

“You acted like her… his desire.”

“Yes, and he left you immediately, with the thought that you were the one going to ruin their- our relationship.”

“What are you trying to insinuate, little Davina,” I blurt out and she tilts her head with a hum.

“I didn’t force or control him to sleep with you. He was fully aware when he did that, when he did everything to you, Minerva and remember… I can’t lie.”
