Chapter 31: Chapter 31
The very first thing I thought about is to call Gwen over to my room and all she can do is to stare at me with wide eyes and an open mouth.
It becomes funny when she stares blankly as I apply my killer purple lip gloss and put on my leather jacket.
“I don’t… I actually don’t understand.”
“What don’t you understand, little one.”
I watch her frown from the mirror. Probably at my endeavour.
“How you suddenly changed from crazy to timid and timid to more crazy,” She points out, “All this happened over night and it is freaking me out.”
“Could you do something for me?” I ask and she sits up with her hands folded as she waits for what I will say next, “Pretend like you didn’t see me.”
“Er- how am I supposed to do that when you have two pointed ears, the smell of a fey and a very much appearance change all together.”
“Don’t forget the much crazy character me.”
“I don’t understand a word you have been saying for a while now,” She squints her eyes at me.
“Just know that I am going to kill your brother, Gwendolyn.”
“Gwendolyn?” She scowls, “You always call me Gwe-”
“And I will also burn the little thing he calls a mate.”
She watches me as I drop down the cosmetics, “But we haven’t found any real proo-”
“All the proof I need came from my change and right now, I am digging it.”
“You know… with that purple lip gloss, you look evil.”
“I am evil, well, evil good,” I point out, “When your brother forced himself on me, he automatically signed an ultimate death sentence.”
“Wait, what?” She holds her hands up in the air, “Did you say that he forced himself on you?”
I nod, “I believe that when I am in this form, I can’t lie so yes, he did just that.”
“Oh,”
At her tone, I squint my eyes at her, “What did you do?”
Her guilty eyes move from the ground to gaze at me as she rubs her hands nervously.
“Nothing,” She shakes her head, “I did nothing at all.”
With a crook smile, I sit beside her, “You know that I can make you talk without even batting an eyelash.”
“Er- no, you can,” She argues.”
“Yes, I can. I have magic now, Gwendolyn. I’m a hybrid.”
She raises her shocked eyes to me, trying to clarify what I just said.
“You’re a hybrid?”
“Of course, I am,” I roll my eyes, “I was only a wolf yesterday but now I have two pointed ears and guess what? Magic. Do you get it now… well, you do look a little pale.”
She nods slowly and closes her lips, stopping herself from looking like a fish struggling for water-
“Sorry, I am just trying to wrap my head around the fact that my brother raped you.”
I shrug, “I don’t take it as a big deal but the other me does. It kind of affected her so much that she turned timid.”
“And none crazy,” She whispers, her eyes downcast.
“I also don’t mind that fact that you slept with Greyson in his time of depression,” Her eyes widen as the words spring out of my lips, “Don’t worry, I won’t tell anyone. Again, it doesn’t affect me that much but the werewolf part of me won’t take it likely.”
“She won’t find out, right?” She shifts uncomfortably from my gaze but it only makes me squint at her more.
“You’ve changed too.”
“What?” She asks.
“Where is your necklace,” She blinks at me when I ask again, “Did you misplace it?”
“I have never replaced my necklace before,” She pulls down the collar of my shirt, revealing a three-lined iron necklace, wrapped around her slender neck.
“Now, would you stop at me like that. It’s creepy and I really want to fall asleep this night.”
I do stop my creepy staring.
“Iron hurts feys. I was only checking.”
“But you are not a fey,” She releases the collar of her shirt and slowly stroke her hair, “You’re a hybrid of some sort. A very complicated hybrid female.”
“Just don’t ever pull off that necklace.”
“I have never done that, expect when I go to the shower but why are you so concerned about this.”
“Like I said before, iron hurts feys. It can be your weapon against me when I step out of line.”
“You just said ‘when’, and not ‘if’. do you want me to kill you?”
“I want you to have a weapon,” I emphasis, “Gwendolyn, I am like a vampire. I am very unpredictable, but just as vamps can’t resist blood, I can’t resist some… certain things and it gets pretty ugly if you hold what I want or perhaps get in the way.”
“You’re doing that creepy eyes thing again.”
“I know,” I say, like it explains everything.
“Okay?” She looks confused.
“Promise me something, Gwendolyn,” I shift a bit closer.
“Only if you promise to call me Gwen. The old yo- I mean, the other you calls me that.”
I breathe out heavily, “I promise to call you Gwen when when I go back to the other me.”
“That isn’t what I-” She blinks with a heavy smile, “What do you want?”
“Don’t tell anyone what happened today.”
“Yes, of course but how will you go out like this. It can’t wor-”
I inhale slowly and reach out to my magic, at the same time I begin to imagine how I was before. The texture of my hair, the normal eyes, my normal dim eyes… All the things that the other me possess.
“Oh,” She shuts up immediately.
“It’s called glamour,” I smile at her when I open my eyes.
“How do you do that?”
“I am a fey, Gwendolyn. This is one of my many powers.”
“And how exactly did you learn magic in a few hours of your transformation.”
I stand up and walk over to the mirror to fix my hair and I smile, when I sight my purple lips.
“My zeal to catch the two nasty creatures is very very strong.”
“Two nasty what now?”
Her exclaim makes me turn to her and I stare blankly.
“You can now go,” After reaching out to my magic, I use it to pull her up to her feet and push her out of the door.
“What? I don’t understan-” Opening the door with magic is the next thing I do.
“Don’t get in my way, always put on your necklace and don’t tell anyone what you have seen.”
I push her out and close the door behind her, all these are done by magic. It gives me less stress.
With my crossed arms on my chest, I turn to the corner of the room with a bored look.
The first thing I see is her face, before, the whole part of her body passes out of the pale wall.
The female is dressed in a yellow formal gown, looking as elegant as she can be. The corner of her eyes are slanted up a bit and it catches my attention effectively but I let it be when she notices.
“Do you know who I am?”
Her first question doesn’t surprise me in anyway.
“You’re the one who made a seven years old me walk out of the most secured place at that time, and in to the forest, which was the danger zone,” I try my full body to her direction.
“I didn’t force you to follow me. You simply knew that I could protect you,” She debates calmly, while I continue to stare at her with my bored expression.
“You’re the one who gave me a shitty mate, put me in a complicated situation and you’re probably doing a horrible job at planning my future.”
She walks graciously and sits gently on the bed, making me squint at her.
“And you’re about to tell me that you’re not the one who made my destiny. You’re so lucky that I give you little cursed words everyday, maybe I should make it a hundred, dear old moon goddess,” I tsk in a mocking manner.
“Now, would you tell me why I have a Goddess sitting on my bed.”
Her doe like eyes doesn’t move from my face, “Do you need anything from me, Minerva?”
I begin to look thoughtful, “I need a lot of things from you but I am on a schedule… of course I need answers. Starting from why you are in my room, sitting on my bed and asking me this question.”
“Let’s say that I am asking this question to one of the high and important person in my society,” She shrugs.
“Your society means you creation, right?”
“I like to think of them- you all, as my society, my people.”
“Well, your society is shitty and stupid. Why did I even get in to this society, why did I get a shitty mate.”
“The girl I knew once before didn’t use cursed words.”
“The girl you knew isn’t the one standing before you right now. Woman, I curse you everyday.”
She blinks and immediately gets off her feet.
“I am forced to believe that your fey side has no respect for m-”
“I know that there is a god of feys but I kind of have no respect for him either,” I grimace, “As you are on your way, could you please say hello to Destiny and Faith for me. They have made me wish that I was in hell, not that I am not already in there.”
“I don’t know what you are talking about,” She replies aloof.
“I have read a lot of novels, books made by both supernatural and human writers, Moon Goddess,” I point out, “In this world, there should be one of those, making people’s future. You are probably acting like you don’t know about them so that you can fool me, or maybe, I am not supposed to know.”
Immediately, her head turns to my direction, her eyes locked on me with a mean look.
“Oh no, I am guessing that this is actually the first time that anyone’s crossed your line.”
Her face breaks up in to a huge grin all of a sudden, her grim reaction forgotten.
“Someone did, once but he didn’t survive long.”
“Am I supposed to be shaking in my boots right now? Not that I am wearing boots,” I pout and move to lay on the bed.
All the while, she watches me.
“What? I got tired of standing.”
“You really behave like you sister.”
I blink at her, “Huh?”
“I know that deep down that facade of yours-”
“You mean under,” I squint at her as I sit up.”
She continues, “There’s a girl who craves for the love and attention that others get.”
I stare at her with boredom.
“The other part of me gets the love and attention she needs and what you speak of, from her wol-” I pause when I come to realize that the wolf is stuck in a box, a very dark and deep box.
She shrugs and nod at me, “You are lonely, Minerva. Admitting it will help you grow.”
“I am never admitting something that isn’t real, Moon Goddess, but is there anyway I can get my, I mean the other part of me’s wolf back?”
She chuckles, “There isn’t any part of you, Minerva.”
“You are a werewolf and a fey. There are no boundaries. You just have a different appearance now.”
“I find that very hard to believe .”
“You have been hurt and broken,” She starts but I cut in.
“I am not broken or hurt!”
She doesn’t listen to a word I say.
“Even as a fey, you can still help your wolf side grow. Just believe.”
“If this is from a movie then I am not listening to a word you say.”
She smiles at my words and then walks back in to the wall she came from.
“Just believe in yourself. That’s all I am asking of you,” Her voice fades in an echo and I scoff.
“I am believing in myself.”
