Chapter 23: Chapter 23
“You called for me?” I look up at the male who has his eyes on me, well, he is the one who looked up at me but it just seems this way now.
Yeah, I look up at him.
“Your sister called,” He stretches out a tablet to me. I take it and look down at it in confusion.
“I didn’t know that there’s technology over there.”
“There isn’t. that’s a magical device, it is connected to the enchanted mirror Cyprus has over there.”
I slide my fingers on the screen, “That guy has a lot of names.”
He stands beside me as she talks, “He is royalty. He is meant to have more than a lot of names.”
“Okay… why are you being so nice to me.”
He leans forward but I step back in time.
“Why are you being so calm.”
“I am always calm.”
His eyes evaluates me for a second, “Don’t tell her about anything that is going on here. If you do, I will kill Greyson and that little friend of yours, do I make myself clear?”
I roll my eyes at the bastard.
“It funny how you were normal a few minutes ago. I almost forgot that you’re a narcissist.”
I can feel his breath on me as he speaks, “Please, don’t ever forget that.”
And here I thought that he will say something important and meaningful.
With a deep inhale, I double tap the tablet and weird cravings shows on it.
“It’s loading,” He says as he steps away from me.
“I can see that, no need for the info.”
When it stops its weird loading and displays a blank screen, I look at him.
“I don’t think that it’s working. I can’t see he-” My eyes catch a flash of light and when I gaze down, I see something, “Never mind.”
My baby siste-
I squint at her so called mate besides her, “What have you done to my sister, you insect.”
She know has pointed ears and a strange glint in her now blue eyes, her face also looks extra soft.
This was not how she looked when I left her in his care.
“He didn’t do anything, Eva. I found out that I am really a fey.”
Goddess, he probably washed up her brain.
The insect.
I glare at the stone faced king for a few seconds before my eyes are back on my sister, “Are you sure everything is alright?”
She smiles, “I’m fine, Eva.”
I somehow believe that.
“I wish I could come visit but I can’t. Sebastian is a little bit protective,” I lie from my teeth. It isn’t really s le so I can exempt that, right?
“I understand.”
“And it’s funny how I believe that,” I laugh, “I am sorry that I didn’t come to your wedding, Lynn.”
Sebastian, the psycho had me locked up in a cell room.
“I’m sorry that I didn’t attend your mating ceremony.”
How did her eyes get there.
I cover up my neck immediately.
I will make it up to you soon got soon. I got some business to take care of here and darling, I go by Asteria now.”
“Did you just call me darling?” I frown, “And Asteria, that’s a cool name, where did you get it?”
“Mom gave it to me apparently.”
“What?” I blink and she giggles.
She is scaring me now.
I feel Sebastian’s heated glare as she ends her speech, “I have a lot to tell you darling, perhaps when we speak again.”
“Don’t call me that, and why are you talking that wa-”
She has already disconnected before she can fully hear me.
“I think this thing is broken.”
Before I can fully stretch it out to me, he snatches it away.
That’s not very polite.
“Maybe you broke it.”
I narrow my eyes at him, “Are you on your… you know, time of the month because your emotions are going viral right now.”
He ignores me and steps out of the room.
“So much for striking up a conversation,” I mutter as I follow him out, “Do you think that my sister was a fey all along?”
“I don’t really care.”
I scoff in his direction. I’m starting to regret not giving her a hint of what’s going on here.”
“Where are we going?”
When he realizes that I am still following him, he stops and turns to me.
“Go away, Minerva. I have things to do.”
“You are really extra nice today,” I say, thoughtfully, “Did you… mate with her?”
As my lips force out the words in despair, his face remains stoned and he walks away, just like that.
“You psychopathic bastard!” I mutter.
“I thought that was my name.”
“Argh!” I scream and jump at the same time but when I see Paul, I relax.
“Why did you scare me like that. Don’t you know that I’m on Gwen break.”
“I’m sorry, I didn’t me-” He frowns, “Gwen’s break?”
“Gwen always like scaring the hell out of me- like you did, so I am taking a break from her. A Gwen’s break.”
He nods, trying to understand. “Now, I can see the familiarities that both of you have.”
“What’s that?”
“You both are crazy,” He laughs.
“You got that right but I think that she’s more crazier, in a way.”
“Yeah, you are also right. She is extremely crazy.”
We laugh.
When he sobers up, he stares at me.
“Sebastian made a huge mistake by letting you go.”
“He hasn’t actually done that. I got a mark on my neck.”
“A very unusual thing indeed.”
I narrow my eyes at him as I fold my arms, “Why are you so worried about me.”
“I am not worried about you, Minerva. I am worried for you.”
“Okay? I don’t know what that means.”
“Sebastian and I have been the best of friends all our lives and not once did he mention that femal-”
“Grace, her name is Grace.”
“Whatever her name is, I don’t care,” He sighs, “What I am trying to say is that I don’t trust her and neither do I like her.”
“Yeah, I can see that one very clearly but she got class.”
He suddenly takes my hands in his and looks in to my eyes, “Something about her doesn’t feel right.”
With a grimace and a small nod, I pull my hands away from his and rub them together. “What did you put on. Goddess, that hurt.”
He looks down at his palms. “An iron ring, that’s all.”
“Well, it hurts.”
He sighs, “All I am trying to say is that you should be careful. I don’t really trust her.”
“I understand,” I continue to rub my hands together, “Be careful too and please pull off that ring.”
“No, can’t do. It’s my lucky ring.”
“At least smooth it down?”
“Now, that I can do.”
“Why are you talking like that?” I ask.
“I don’t know.”
I laugh.
That’s what you get for piercing me with your ring.
