Chapter 22: Chapter 22

I look down at the chains, “When are you going to let me go, dear old king and queen. You do know that silver doesn’t hurt me any more.”

I raise my wrists and the chains rattles from beneath the bed. “Gosh, the person who did this, sure knows how to construct.”

“I told you not to run away, Minerva,” Grace lectures,”You wouldn’t have gotten yourself in to this.”

“Couldn’t you have thought of any other way to catch me, maybe I don’t know… sit on me rather than to electrocute me.”

“You are not in the position to speak,” Sebastian says through his gritted teeth and I scoff.

“Every word that both of you push out of your mouths want to make me roll my eyes.”

I poke out my tongues as I undo the silly chains, watching the so called queen step back in shock.

“How did yo-”

“It’s a silly toy, Grace. I have spent more than a month in a prison cell, of course, I would pick something up. Goddess, you are much more naive than I thought.”

Sebastian rushes to me within a speed of light. “Don’t you dare disrespect my mate, Minerva.”

I lean away from his face, “Don’t worry, I won’t do that. I have a hard time dealing with your stench. I don’t want any more of that. Could you maybe shift back a little?”

At my words, he does the opposite and I find a way to go around him.

“Oh, I wish I had a very caring mate like you. I gotta find one of those.”

Grace shifts away from me as I head to the door and open it.

“Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you. Unless you pull that stunt on me again.”

As I close the door and turn around, my head bangs into something hard and I groan… the thing groans too.

Goddess, am I going to die now?

“Oh, it’s just you,” I roll my eyes while Greyson smiles sheepishly.

“What are you doing here?”

“Eavesdropping, what else would we be doing?” Gwen’s eyes glimmers like a little child, “Is it true that you tried to escape.”

I look back from the door I came from and then beckon them to follow me as I take a more secure spot, far from it.

I don’t want any of those two listening in on our conversation.

“Yeah, I had a- Where is it?” I touch my now bare wrist, hoping to find the bracelet, “Goddess, they took it off.”

“Took what off? What are you talking about?”

“There was a bracelet. I-It helped me not to feel the shocks but when I tried to escape Gwen did something to turn it back on.”

“I think the queen has a remote of some kind,” Paul welcomes himself in to the mix, “She doesn’t look like she has to mind to do that though.”

“I haven’t seen you in a while,” I fold my arms across my chest, “Did you get in to trouble?”

He rolls his eyes then plainly ignores me, “Unfortunately, I haven’t found an escape plan but hearing about this bracelet is promising.”

“Thanks guys,” I smile, “I am happy that I got people who can actually help me for once in my life.”

“Technically, we haven’t helped you at all,” Gwen points out, earning a glare from me.

Greyson smiles back at me as he taps my arm lightly, “No problem, you will always have m- us here. Er- I gotta go now.”

As he walks away, Paul and Gwen turns to me with goofy smiles.

“He likes you,” Gwen says and I shake my head.

“No, he doesn’t. He is just being a concerned friend,” I retort.

“Seriously, don’t be so dense. Can’t you see the way he smiles at you and his constant touching too?”

“Constant touching? Is that even a thing he does?”

“Gwen is right, for once in her life. He does like you.”

“It seems like both of you banged your heads somewhere hard. He doesn’t like me!”

“Okay then, why did he ask me to make sure that both of you get totally alone.”

Okay, I don’t understand a word she just spoke.

“Because, that’s it. There’s no extra thing in that. He probably just misses me.”

“Goddess, Minerva, use that pretty little brain of yours,” She groans, “I actually promised him that I would do just that.”

“Wait. What?”

“Don’t ask so surprised,” She flicks her wrist, “You need a break, a time for yourself.”

Inhaling, I pull off the scarf from my neck, “As long as this mark is on me, I’m not going to have a time for myself.”

“I totally forgot that was there.”

“The scent hiding soap is doing its work,” Paul says as they both nod at each other and I watch him with confusion.

Gwen takes the scarf from my grasp and wraps it back on my neck.

“I will have to send for a concealing potion.”

I jump away from her immediately, “That is not going to happen, Gwen. I am not taking any of your potions again.”

“Don’t worry, I’ll send for it this time. My witch always adds honey to her potions,” Paul winks.

“And bravo to the most sensible person among you two. Now, I have to go proof how wrong you are about Greyson liking me.”

As I walk away, Gwen scoffs behind me, “Yeah, good luck with that.”

I only ignore her and walk faster, towards the place that I suspect Greyson to be in and I am more than correct.

He stands in the centre of the hall, not too far from where I was speaking to those two and I squint as him.

“You were listening in, weren’t you?”

He looks up at me in confusion, “What are you talking about?”

When I am sure he is being completely honest, I walk up to him, finding the right words to say.

What do you say if you want to find out if someone likes you or not?

I should just ask him directly…

No, that’s the most stupidest thing I can do today.

“The girl that Gwen talked about earlier- er.. what’s her name again?”

“Estella?”

“Yeah, remember when I told you that-”

“Can we discuss somewhere more secured?” I look around.

“Oh yeah, come on.”

When he leads me to the weaponry, I roll my eyes, “Seriously?”

“Do you know who that girl is?” He asks.

“Estella is a friend of mine,” I tell him as I turn, “What do you want with her?”

He chews on his bottom lips, “She’s the one I was talking about before. It was both of us that came out that day.”

“Hold up,” I raise my arms in the air, “Estella is the one who followed you here? I find that very hard to believe, but it does make a lot of sense.” I think…

“Yeah,” He coughs, “I didn’t get the chance to talk to her though.”

“She was with Gwen and I the whole time so how did you see her?”

“Mainly, when you girls were experimenting, but I didn’t want you to know yet. I didn’t want Gwen to know.”

“Seriously, I am going to punch you,” I squint at him.

“I was actually eavesdropping on your conversation, a few minutes ago.”

“I knew it,” And then I roll my eyes, “Are you blushing?”

“What- no way,” He shakes his head as he looks away and I groan.

“Please don’t tell me that Gwen was right, that you like me?”

“Not telling you won’t stop my feelings.”

“Goddess,” I rake through my hair, “Sebastian could kill you because of this.”

“I know but I don’t know how to stop my heart from beatin-”

You can’t be kidding me.

He takes a few steps forward and I squint at him.

“I would want you to keep your head, Greyson so get rid of it, and besides, Gwen already made dibs on you.”

“Did you just say would?” He raises an eyebrow at me.

Goddess, how did I get suck in these situations.
