Chapter 30: Chapter 30
“GOOD morning!” I was greeted by Adam's wide smile that morning.
I woke up, already alone in bed. When I left the bedroom, I saw Adam in the kitchen. He was still in a white tee shirt and shorts while cooking breakfast.
I took a glance at the wall clock. It was already eight in the morning. I wondered what time he woke up.
"Good morning," I said as I pulled up a chair for myself. "What are you cooking?"
"Sausage and eggs. Plus sautéed vegetables."
I smiled as I rested my chin on my palm on the table. "That smelled so good."
I stayed there as I watched him do his wonders in front of the stove. I bit my lower lip when I saw how the muscles on his arms flexed with his every move.
He turned off the stove and then turned to me. "No morning sickness today?" he asked.
I smiled and shook my head. "Nah. I feel good today."
He took off his apron and ran his fingers through his hair. "That's great, Claire."
He took a plate and poured the sauteed vegetables on it.
After placing the platter of the vegetables, sausage and eggs he had cooked on the table, he knelt in front of me and placed his palm on my belly. I could immediately feel his warm hand on my skin.
“Very good, baby. I hope you're always like that. Stop giving your mommy a hard time.”
I pursed my lips as I looked down on him. “Adam, what are you doing? Our baby can't hear you. Stop talking to him or her."
Adam looked at me. “No. I think our baby can understand. Remember when I kissed our baby good night last night? I asked our baby to stop giving you morning sickness. See? Our baby listened to me.” He flashed a smile at me.
I couldn't help but let out a small chuckle as I listened to him.
“Why are you smiling? You don't believe me?” he slightly pouted his lips.
"I didn't know you could be this cute, Adam." I never imagined the word cute associated with Adam. I always saw him as drop dead gorgeous and hot.
I couldn't believe that I'd use the word "cute" to describe him.
I didn't know what had gotten into me that I suddenly pinched his cheek.
His eyes widened a little with what I did.
“Aw… baby, your mommy's making fun of me,” he said while looking at the same bump on my belly.
“Sorry. I just find you adorable, Adam, " I said, giggling. "I didn't know you had this side."
He just chuckled before he stood up. "Come on, let's eat. I can already hear your stomach grumbling."
"Yeah. Let's feed our baby now." I said, pursing my lips.
"Claire, do you have anything to do today?" Adam asked while we were eating breakfast.
It's Saturday. I didn't have work. Ever since I got pregnant, I no longer work on the weekends or bring home work.
"I'll just stay here at home and watch movies, I guess. What about you? Do you have somewhere to go today?"
He smiled at me. "Only if you come with me." He poured orange juice into my glass. "Let's go out today."
"Sure. But where are we going?" I asked in curiosity. I sipped on my juice.
He gave me a mysterious smile. "You'll find out later."
I slightly cocked my brow. "Later? Why don't you just tell me now?"
"I wanted it to be a surprise." He winked.
I playfully rolled my eyes at him. "That's unfair, Adam."
He chuckled at me after sipping on his coffee. "Trust me. You're going to love it."
"Really?"
"Yeah. I swear, Claire," he said confidently, which made me curious more.
After having breakfast, I decided to take a bath. Adam didn't want to tell me where we were going, and I couldn't help but feel excited. I wore a lavender dress and a pair of flat shoes.
“Claire, are you ready?” I heard Adam's voice outside of the room.
“Wait, Adam.” I said while putting lipstick on my lips. I didn't know where we're going, but I still wanted to look extra presentable.
When I was already satisfied with my look, I left the dresser. I found Adam on the sofa. He was wearing a maong pants, a white collared shirt, and a pair of top siders. He turned off the TV and went to me.
Damn. I didn't know if it's just me, but I felt like Adam was even more handsome today.
“Let’s go?” Adam asked me, surveying my look.
"Yeah. I'm ready." I smiled at him.
I noticed he was looking at my face. No, he was looking at her lips. “Adam... is something wrong in my face?” I asked, feeling conscious of my own look. I wondered if there was something wrong with my face.
Adam shook his head. “Claire... would you mind if I ruin your lipstick?”
Before I could answer, Adam had already held me at the waist and claimed my lips in a passionate kiss.
I automatically closed my eyes and clung my arms onto his nape. Then I returned his kisses with the same intensity he was giving me.
I was breathless when Adam left my lips. Damn. That was one hell of a kiss.
Adam raised his hand and gently touched her face. My heart almost jumped out of my face when his fingers caressed my parted lips.
“I’m sorry I ruined your lipstick. I just can’t help kissing you," he said in a soft voice while biting his own lip. "Your lips were inviting me."
"It's fine, Adam," I said, pursing my lips. "I like your kisses, too." I felt my cheeks heat up with my little confession.
I didn't mind if he'd ruined my lipstick all the time.
I smiled at him and raised my brows. "Maybe I'll just buy kiss-proof lipstick next time."
