Chapter 57: Chapter 57
Mink’s P.O.V
My heart raced as I prowled through the fresh snow, my senses alert to every rustle and scent in the moonlit landscape. The tension hung thick in the air, a palpable beginning to the impending clash. I glanced at Ruksaar, Kashmira, and Abhay, their eyes gleaming with a mixture of determination and fear, mirroring her own emotions.
The distant howl of Alpha Arsalan echoed through the trees, sending a shiver down my spine. It was time.
With a silent signal, we surged forward, a blur of fur and fangs, our packmates at our heels. As we neared the clearing, I caught sight of the imposing figures of Alpha Arsalan and Alpha Daksh, flanked by their formidable pack.
“It's time. Do everything you can to defend this pack and yourselves, may the Moon Goddess be with us.” I said.
Ruksaar, with her sleek black coat, her movements fluid and calculated. She engaged in a fierce duel with Alpha Daksh's beta, teeth bared and claws slashing. With a swift maneuver, she brought the adversary to the ground, a victorious snarl escaping her lips.
Kashmira, her brown fur glinting in the moonlight, launched herself at a group of adversaries, her agility unmatched. She moved with an elegant grace, evading their attacks with ease before delivering precise strikes of her own. With each opponent she dispatched, her confidence grew, a primal thrill coursing through her veins.
Abhay, along with several others, used their guns on Alpha Daksh's pack members, a fierce struggle ensuing as they struggled to find hiding spots but failed. A hailstorm of bullets rained down on the opponent, taking down several of the members.
Meanwhile, I found myself face to face with Alpha Arsalan himself, the air crackling with the intensity of our confrontation. Our eyes locked in a silent challenge, each daring the other to make the first move.
With a primal roar, Alpha Arsalan lunged forward, his massive frame hurtling toward me with lethal intent. I met his charge head-on, teeth flashing as we clashed in a whirlwind of fur and fury. Every instinct screamed to protect my unborn child as we grappled for supremacy, each refusing to yield an inch of ground, but I didn’t give up. It wasn’t an option.
As the moon hung high in the sky, casting its silvery glow over the battlefield, the clash of fangs and the echo of howls filled the night air and though the outcome remained uncertain, one thing was clear – we would fight until our last breath, for the honor of our pack and the freedom of our kin.
With a fierce roar, I lunged forward, meeting the Alpha Arsalan head-on. Claws clashed, fur flew, and the mountains seemed to tremble with the intensity of our struggle. Every instinct within me screamed to emerge victorious, to prove my strength and courage as a leader.
But amidst the chaos of battle, a sudden sharp pain ripped through my abdomen, causing me to falter for a moment. I staggered backward, confusion clouding my thoughts as I tried to comprehend the source of the agony and then, with a sinking realization, it hit me like a thunderbolt.
I was going into labor.
The realization was both shocking and terrifying. In the midst of this violent confrontation, my body had chosen this moment to begin the miraculous process of bringing new life into the world. I could feel the contractions intensifying, a relentless wave of pain washing over me with each passing moment.
But there was no time to dwell on the pain, no time to succumb to weakness. I gritted my teeth, forcing myself to focus through the haze of agony as I squared off against the Alphas once more. Every fiber of my being screamed for me to retreat, to seek safety and solitude, but I knew that was not an option. My pack needed me, now more than ever.
As the battle raged on, I fought with a newfound determination, fueled by the primal instinct to protect my unborn pup. With each strike and counterstrike, I could feel the strength draining from my limbs, the pain threatening to overwhelm me. But I refused to give in, drawing upon reserves of courage and resilience I never knew I possessed.
Through the blur of combat, I could hear the voices of my packmates rallying around me, their howls of support spurring me onward. They sensed my struggle, my pain, and yet they stood by my side, unwavering in their loyalty even as they too battled for their life. At that moment, I knew I was not alone.
However, as the battle drew even more intense, I found myself cornered by both Alpha Arsalan and the russet colored wolf of Alpha Daksh. My back was against a large boulder, and the two Alphas were right in front of me, and I couldn’t decide who to attack first, as they both tried to scare me by growling and snapping their jaws.
Alpha Arsalan with his black fur, tries to advance towards me, figuring out that something was amiss with my condition, and tries to take advantage of it, but just as he was about to lunge forward, a bullet hit him right in his leg, causing him to cry out in pain, startling Alpha Daksh beside him.
I didn’t know who had shot that bullet, but whoever it was, had done me a huge favor by taking down one of my opponents, or at least momentarily distracting both. As the black wolf howled and fell back for a second, I was left alone with Alpha Daksh, and I knew he wasn’t the strongest among the two Alphas.
Taking that momentary distraction to my advantage, I lunged at Alpha Daksh, my jaws clasping around his neck before I applied pressure to hold him down. He struggled in my grip, whining and flailing around, but I pressed down harder.
‘Surrender!’ I used my mental voice to call out to him, warning him that he still had a chance of survival. ‘Surrender now and you get to live!’
‘I’ll never surrender to a lowly woman!’ He growled out, his voice harsh and unbending. ‘I would rather die than surrender to you!’
‘So be it.’
Without showing any mercy to the arrogant Alpha, I sank my fangs into the delicate flesh of his nape and crushed him under the weight of my powerful jaws.
Blood splattered everywhere, painting my fur crimson, and the taste of iron stained my mouth as Daksh’s body went limp under me.
Howls of sorrow sounded in the air as the Alpha’s bond severed from his pack, and I opened my jaws to lets him fall on the snow-covered ground, turning it crimson.
As another wave of contraction hit me, bringing me to my knees, I watched Daksh’s life-blood soak the earth, spreading slowly in the direction of the Jharna. As I followed the trail with my eyes, a sudden horrid realization shaking me to the core.
This…this is exactly what Abhay had described about his dream…about the blood that soaked the snow until it ran freely to fall into the Jharna, turning its water pink…
And as I raised my head to look towards the Jharna…gritting my teeth as another contraction rippled through my body…I saw Arsalan looming over Abhay…and blood dripping from his jaws…
