Chapter 36: Chapter 36

Mink’s P.O.V

As I stood before the members of my pack, their eyes filled with anticipation and hope, I couldn't help but feel overwhelmed by the weight of their expectations. They looked to me, their chosen Alpha, for guidance and protection in this tumultuous world we inhabited. It was a responsibility I hadn't sought, but one that had been thrust upon me by fate and circumstance.

"Mink," Ruksaar said, her voice bubbling with joy, "I've been waiting for this moment for so long."

I chuckled softly, happy about her enthusiasm. "What moment, Ruksaar?"

"This moment," she replied, her hands resting on my shoulders. "The moment when I can finally tell you how proud I am of you. I've always known that you would make a great Alpha."

I raised an eyebrow, a bemused smile playing on my lips. "Oh, have you now?"

Ruksaar nodded vigorously, her eyes shining with determination. "Yes, I have! Ever since I was a mere pup, I could see it in you. You have the strength, the wisdom, the compassion... everything it takes to lead our Alpha. And finally, after a century of you battling against your true nature…I am so happy to accept you as my Alpha."

I couldn't help but feel a swell of pride at her words, knowing that they came from someone I respected so deeply. "Thank you, Ruksaar. That means a lot to me."

She grinned, squeezing my shoulders affectionately. "And you know what else, Mink? One day, I'll be right there beside you as the Beta of the largest pack in all of Asia. Everyone will bow to our supremacy and you will not just be the first Female Alpha everyone had heard of, but the Supreme Alpha that rules over all."

I couldn't help but laugh at her bold declaration. "Oh, is that so? Well, let's not get ahead of ourselves, Ruksaar. Right now, our pack consists of just the five of us, including Kushal. I think your dreams of grandeur might be a little... premature."

Ruksaar pouted playfully, giving me a mock glare. "Hey, a girl can dream, can't she?"

"Of course, she can," I replied with a chuckle, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "But let's focus on the present for now. We have a pack to take care of, and who knows what the future holds?"

Ruksaar nodded, her smile returning. "You're right, Mink. We'll take it one step at a time. But mark my words, one day, we'll be unstoppable."

I grinned back at her, feeling a surge of confidence. With Ruksaar by my side, I knew that anything was possible. Together, we would carve out our own destiny, one paw print at a time.

As I sat there, listening intently to Ruksaar's words, her unwavering faith in me filled me with both warmth and trepidation.

“But Ruksaar…you’re powerful in your own right,” I told her. “You could’ve been a Beta in someone else’s pack by now. Instead, you’re stuck in this tiny pack with me.”

"I'm not going anywhere," she declared firmly, her eyes locking onto mine with a fierce determination. "If I lived to see you accept the role of Alpha, then I will live to see you become the Supreme Alpha that everyone will love and praise."

Her conviction resonated within me, stirring something deep within my soul. Yet, amidst the weight of her words, Kashmira's voice sliced through the sentimental air like a blade. "As much as I love the sentimental side of all this," she interjected, her tone laced with practicality, "what are we going to name our pack?"

The question hung in the air, momentarily overshadowing Ruksaar's proclamation. My mind raced, grappling with the enormity of the decision ahead. And then, without hesitation, a name surged forth from within me.

"BloodPledge," I declared, the words escaping my lips before I could fully comprehend their significance.

Silence descended upon the room, broken only by the sound of my own heartbeat echoing in my ears. I looked around at the stunned faces of my companions, their expressions ranging from confusion to disbelief. But it was Ruksaar who finally voiced the question that lingered unspoken in the air.

"Why?" she asked, her voice soft yet tinged with incredulity. "Why would you want to name our pack after the cursed pack that you executed a century ago?"

I swallowed hard, the weight of their gazes bearing down upon me. How could I explain the inexplicable pull I felt towards that name, towards the legacy it carried?

"Because," I began slowly, each word weighed with the gravity of my conviction, "despite their fall from grace, the BloodPledge pack was once revered as one of the strongest and most noble packs to ever roam these lands. I want our pack to embody that strength, that nobility, not what the pack had later become under the leadership of one horrible Alpha."

A heavy silence followed my words, punctuated only by the soft rustle of shifting emotions. I knew that my choice might not make sense to them, that it might even evoke fear or resistance. But deep down, I believed in the power of redemption, in the ability to reclaim what was lost and forge a new legacy from the ashes of the old and as I met their gazes with unwavering resolve, I prayed that they would come to see the truth in my vision, in the name that now bound us together as one.

"Ruksaar," I began, my voice steady yet filled with the weight of sincerity, "I can see the uncertainty in your gaze. You're wondering if BloodPledge will be a good option or not?"

“I am.” She sighed. “To me, that pack seemed cursed, a horrible reminder of an unforgivable Alpha.”

I leaned forward, my hands clasped together as I met her gaze squarely. "But the name itself isn't what was cursed, Ruksaar," I explained earnestly.

"It was the Alpha who misused his power, who tarnished the very essence of leadership. BloodPledge is a reminder to me, to all of us, of where we came from, of the struggles we endured to break free from the tyranny of our past."

Her brow furrowed in contemplation, and I knew she was processing my words carefully. "So, it's a symbol of our resilience," she mused aloud. "A testament to our determination to never succumb to the darkness that once threatened to consume us."

I nodded in agreement. "Exactly. But there's more to it than just a reminder of our past. The name BloodPledge resonates deeply with me on a personal level. It represents a solemn vow, a pledge to protect and nurture each member of our pack as if they were bound to us by blood."

Ruksaar's eyes widened in understanding, and a small smile tugged at the corners of her lips. "So, it's not just about power or dominance," she remarked. "It's about unity, about fostering a sense of kinship and belonging among us…like family."

I returned her smile, feeling a sense of relief wash over me. "Yes, exactly," I replied. "BloodPledge isn't just a name—it's a promise. A promise to uphold the values of loyalty, compassion, and mutual respect and as long as we remain true to that pledge, I believe we can overcome any obstacle that comes our way."

As I stood before my packmates, the weight of their expectant gazes bore down on me. I could feel the anticipation crackling in the air like static before a storm. This moment was pivotal, not just for me, but for all of us. I took a deep breath, steadying myself, knowing that what I was about to say would shape our future.

"My fellow packmates," I began, my voice firm but tinged with a hint of nervousness. "Today marks a new chapter in our history. Today, I stand before you not just as Mink, but as your Alpha."

Everyone looked at me with beaming smiles on their faces, including Abhay and Kushal.

"It is my pledge to each and every one of you," I continued, meeting the eyes of each pack member in turn, "to be the Alpha you deserve. To lead with strength, compassion, and unwavering loyalty."

"I realize the legacy the name of our pack had left behind," I replied, my voice unwavering. "But it's time to redefine that legacy. It's time to challenge the norms that have dictated who can lead and who cannot. From this day forward, I, Mikalya, am the only Female Alpha among us, and hopefully not the last of our kind."

As I looked out at the faces of my packmates, I knew that this was just the beginning. Together, we would rewrite the rules, redefine the hierarchy of our world. And with time, I was confident that our pack would be stronger, more resilient than ever before.

As Kashmira and Ruksaar went on to choose different kind of raw materials for a feast for tonight, in order to celebrate the formation of our pack and me accepting the role of an Alpha, I led Abhay to our room, the air seemed charged with unspoken tension.

I couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions swirling within me – gratitude for his trust, admiration for his resilience, and a hint of guilt for the circumstances that had brought us together. Yet, amidst it all, there was a profound sense of connection, an understanding that went beyond words.

As we entered the room, I could sense Abhay's apprehension. His eyes flickered with uncertainty, his posture tense as if bracing himself for what was to come. I couldn't blame him; our situation was far from ordinary, and the weight of it all hung heavily in the air.

Taking a deep breath, I turned to face him, meeting her gaze with sincerity. "Thank you for being brave, Abhay," I began softly, my voice barely above a whisper. "I know this isn't easy for you, but I appreciate your courage."

Abhay's lips curved into a faint smile. "It's not like I had much of a choice," he replied, his voice soft but filled with acceptance. "But I suppose we're both in this together now, aren't we? And I don’t regret a thing, Firangi, I can promise you that."

“Thank you.” I moved forward and wrapped my arms around him tightly, feeling myself melting in the warmth of his embrace as he too wrapped his arms around me tightly, a small sigh leaving his lips.

“I missed you, Mikalya…” he breathed against my neck, before placing a tiny kiss that made a shiver run down my spine. “I missed you more than I can describe in words.”

“Then don’t use words.” I whispered against his cheek, pulling away slightly, but not before kissing his neck in the same way that he had kissed mine. “Use your body.”

He drew me in, closing the gap between us as he placed his lips on mine, giving me a gentle kiss. I took the opportunity to deepen the kiss, letting him know that I wasn’t afraid of having it rough. I loved the way he set the pace even as I held him closer with each second that passed, our kiss growing more passionate and hungry.

There were times when I had dreamed of this, moments when I had dreamed of having him in my arms again. For the last month, it had all felt like a wild dream that would never come true, and yet, now, it was becoming a reality.

“I want to feel you…” I whispered against his lips and felt him smile.

“Then let me take the lead this time.” He urged. “Let me show you how I want to love you tonight.”

With a sly smile, I moved away from him, before discarding my sweater, leaving me in my bra and pants as I went ahead and sat on my bed.

With a flick of my finger, I called him forward. “Then show me what you got…mate.”

And ‘show’ me he did, in his own exquisite way that left me breathless and wanting more, my thirst for my mate insatiable.
