Chapter 34: Chapter 34

Mink’s P.O.V

As I stepped through the familiar threshold of the house I had built, with Abhay at my side, there was an undeniable sense of homecoming mingled with apprehension. The house, large enough to serve as a pack house, stood as a testament to both my determination and my duty as an Alpha but today, it seemed to hold a weightier significance as I noticed Ruksaar and Kashmira sitting in the living room, their expressions a mix of expectation and concern.

"Welcome back, Mink," Ruksaar greeted, her tone serious yet tinged with underlying warmth.

"It's time we had a proper discussion. You can't keep avoiding this topic any longer."

I exchanged a glance with Abhay, his presence a silent reassurance by my side. Taking a deep breath, I acknowledged Ruksaar's words with a solemn nod.

"You're right, Ruksaar. I've been running for far too long but I'm done with that now."

With a firm resolve, I motioned for everyone to take a seat, the gravity of the moment settling around us like a heavy cloak. As we gathered in the living room, I could sense the anticipation hanging in the air, thick with unspoken questions and unresolved tensions.

"I know you both have concerns," I began, addressing Ruksaar and Kashmira directly. "And I owe you both an explanation. So please, hear me out."

Ruksaar nodded, her expression a mix of curiosity and apprehension. "We're listening, Mink. Whatever it is, we're here for you."

Taking a moment to gather my thoughts, I delved into the intricacies of my past, unraveling the tangled threads that had brought me to this moment.

They knew something significant was about to be shared, and I could feel the weight of their anticipation. Taking a deep breath, I stood before them, my eyes scanning each face, each pair of eyes filled with curiosity and perhaps a touch of apprehension.

"I need to tell you something, Kashmira" I began, my voice steady despite the turmoil churning within me as I turned to face her. “Before you accept me as your Alpha, you need to be aware of who I am and what I have done.”

Their attention was fully on me now, the silence in the room palpable as they waited for my words to unravel the mystery I carried.

"I was born in a house where I was never allowed to venture outside my door, not for the first thirteen years of my life. I'd always known that I was different, but I hadn't known the full extent of it until later." I continued, my gaze locking with theirs. "Everything changed the night I decided to leave the comfort of my house…and taken captive by my own Alpha…Rafael.."

Rafael, the name echoed in the room like a curse, the memory of his cruelty still fresh in my mind even after all these years.

"He was the Alpha of the BloodPledge pack," I continued, my words heavy with the weight of the past. "A tyrant who abused his authority to subjugate and oppress those weaker than him, especially women. I knew this firsthand when he burned my parents alive in front of me…and made me watch. And when I tried to escape…I was finally brought face to face with the tyrant I loathed."

Their expressions shifted, sympathy and anger mingling as they began to grasp the magnitude of what I was revealing.

"It was the first time my wolf spoke to me, the first time I understood what I truly was…an Alpha," I explained, my voice gaining intensity. "It was about a deeper understanding, a primal instinct that I couldn't ignore and it was this instinct that led me to confront Rafael."

"I knew then that only an Alpha could kill an Alpha," I confessed, the truth hanging heavy in the air. "And so, I made a choice. A choice to rid our world of his malevolence, even if it meant burning down an entire pack."

The room fell into stunned silence at my admission, the gravity of my actions sinking in. But amidst the shock, I could see understanding dawning in their eyes, an acknowledgment of the sacrifices made for the greater good.

"I don't regret what I did," I declared, my voice unwavering. "Because in doing so, I freed not only myself but countless others from the shackles of his tyranny. And though the cost was high, the freedom gained was worth every drop of blood shed."

As I finished speaking, the room remained silent, the weight of my confession hanging heavy in the air. But beneath the surface, I could sense a newfound respect and admiration, a recognition of the Alpha within me that had always been there, waiting to be unleashed.

But as I stood before them, the weight of my actions pressing heavily upon me, I couldn't help but feel a profound sense of doubt gnawing at my core. They looked at me expectantly, awaiting words of reassurance, of leadership. Yet, all I could muster was a conflicted admission.

"I don't feel like a hero," I began, my voice wavering slightly with uncertainty. "Not for what I've done. All the bloodshed, the sacrifices... I can't shake the feeling that there could've been another way. Another path that didn't demand such a heavy toll."

I met each of their gazes in turn, hoping to convey the depth of my conviction, despite the lingering shadows of doubt that lingered within me.

"If you're still willing to let me lead you," I said, my voice steadier now, "knowing everything I've done, then I'll give it some thought. But understand this... We're not just fighting against our enemies out there. We're fighting against a rigid system, a hierarchy that's been in place for centuries. A world dominated by male Alphas, regardless of species."

"I cannot promise you a life free from struggle or hardship," I continued. "There will be moments of doubt, moments when it feels like the weight of the world is crashing down upon us. And in those moments, you may question why you ever chose to follow me. We will be challenged and we may never know peace…once the outside world is made aware that a Female Alpha is among them, there is bound to be wars. So if you are still willing to stand beside me…I’m ready to lead as your Alpha."

Finally, Ruksaar stepped forward, her expression resolute despite the uncertainty lingering in their eyes.

"Mink," she said, her voice firm with determination, "we knew from the start that this journey wouldn't be easy but I thought you would have more pressing concerns about the future. Is that all that had been bothering you?"
