Chapter 20: Chapter 20

CLAIRE WOKE up earlier than the usual to prepare pancakes for Zack. She decided to prepare the pancake mix but cook them later once the little boy wakes up, anyway pancakes are the best when served hot.

Maria and Rose once again helped her but once settled, the two girls paid attention to their daily household tasks.

It’s still early and she decided to walk around the veranda. She saw Nana Amy there.

“Good morning, Nana Amy.” She greeted her with a smile.

“Good morning, Mrs. Castillejo.” The old lady replied formally.

She sighed. Though she can’t feel her strong hostility towards her anymore, she can still feel that the old lady does not like her.

“Nana, I was thinking, I could be of any help.” Claire really wants to get along with the old lady, just like how she did get along with Maria and Rose now.

Nana Amy looked at her. This was the same look that Blaire was giving her every time he was weighing her actions.

“What do you really want, Mrs. Castillejo?” Nana Amy said after looking at her intently.

“I just want to help you Nana.” Claire said and gave her a soft smile.

“Why are you suddenly nice to everyone?” Nana Amy asked, disregarding what she said.

“Nana—“

“Stop acting Mrs. Castillejo.”

“But Nana, I just want to help you.” Claire said sincerely.

The old lady looked at her for a long time.

“You know, if it’s just me, I am already used to it, Mrs. Castillejo. But this time, I am more worried about Zack. The little boy is too kind to have a scheming mother like you.”

Nana Amy’s words cut like knives. They were not for her and she knows that but she was hurting for Zack. For having a mother like what everybody was saying about her in this mansion. However, at least there’s still someone like Nana Amy who really loves the little boy like her own.

“You don’t have any idea right? You will hurt him big time once you decide again to go back to your old self.” Nana Amy said pertaining to Zack.

She was speechless for a while. Because Nana Amy was right. This is all temporary. The moment that Blaire’s real wife is back, she needs to go back to her old life as well.

“That is why I am begging you Mrs. Castillejo, stop this game that you are playing as early as now.” Nana Amy said and walked away.

She saw the old lady walk towards the pool area. And for a moment, Claire was absentmindedly looking at nothing. Maybe today is not the right time to earn Nana Amy’s trust.

But she will never give up. Soon, Nana Amy will see her through. That she will not do anything that could harm the people here in the mansion, most especially Zack.

Upon thinking of the little boy, she smiled and got back to her senses. She looked at Nana Amy’s figure. The old lady is in the pool area now. She saw her as she bent her body and it seemed that she was getting something from the pool.

She decided to help her but before she could reach there, she heard a splash from the water. Adrenaline rushes through her body as she senses an emergency.

She ran in the pool area and her face was in horror when she saw Nana Amy drowning in the pool. Without any hesitation she jumped in the pool to rescue the old lady.

Claire was panting but good thing she was just in time and was able to rescue Nana Amy. She can’t imagine what could have happened if there was no one there by the time Nana Amy fell into the pool.

Nana Amy was coughing and Claire tapped her back to comfort her.

“Y-You saved me.” Nana Amy said in between coughing.

“Are you okay now Nana?” She said, concern was visible in her face.

“Oh! Y-You save me.” The old lady said again. This time she sounded like she was about to cry.

“That’s nothing Nana, but I want to know if you are just okay.” She said while inspecting her body.

Claire realized that the old lady was shivering. At the same time she was shivering as well. It was really cold.

Then just right in time brother Romeo came with a worried face.

“What happened?” He asked Nana Amy.

“I-I fell i-in the pool, s-she s-saved m-me.” Nana Amy said while shaking because of the cold.

Brother Romeo was quick to notice that, he immediately wrapped Nana Amy into his body to get warmed. He did not care even if Nana Amy was soaking. For a husband, that was so sweet, Claire thought and smiled gently.

“H-Hurry, we need to get towels for her. S-She is shaking as well.” Nana Amy said.

The old lady was right. She was shivering!

They were about to walk towards the mansion when Blaire appeared. By his looks, it seems that he came from a morning run.

“What happened here?” He looked at Nana Amy with concern and then his eyes landed on her.

At first there was doubt in those beautiful set of brown eyes. It seems that those eyes were accusing her already. However, when Blaire saw her soaking and shivering, he immediately ran towards her and the word ‘surprised’ was not enough to describe what she felt on the next thing that Blaire did.

Blaire wrapped her into his body not minding even if she was wet. Suddenly, Claire’s heart beating became erratic. She will not be surprised if her heart will come out from her chest right now because she can also hear it beating so loud. At the same time his warmth filled her.

There was this familiar tingling sensation that flows out through her veins whenever her body touches into Blaire’s body. And now, this is not just a simple touch but Blaire was hugging her!

Blaire started to walk towards the mansion and she just went with the flow. She was certain that he came from the morning run, but he still smells so good - his natural male scent, like a cool breeze.

Claire does not know why, but it was so nice being there in his arms. The feeling of his warmth and comfort, it is as if she really belonged there. Suddenly, she wanted to wish that the mansion was so far away, in that way she would have more time to be in Blaire’s arms.
