Chapter 10: Chapter 10

“HELLO DADDY!” Zack let go of Claire’s hand and ran towards his father.

“Hey Kiddo.” Blaire touches the top head of his son and messes his hair a little bit. The little boy smiled.

Then Blaire turned his eyes on her. She gave him a soft smile. She saw him stop for a second. And then shook his head.

“What is that secret?” He asked.

She tried her best to be calm even deep inside, her heart is beating so fast. She was about to say something when Zack said. “Daddy, it’s our secret. A secret is a secret right? It is just between me and mommy.” Then he turned to her. “Right mommy?”

She sighed in relief. She smiled at him and nodded.

“Daddy, are you available now?” Zack turned to his father again.

“Why kiddo?” Asked Blaire.

“We are about to have dinner. Mommy said that you will join us when you are available.” Zack sounds so lively while saying that.

“Really? She said that?” Blaire asked Zack but his eyes were on her.

“Yes, and from now on, she will join me on every meal.” Zack told Blaire excitedly.

Blaire looked at her as if he was doubting what she promised to Zack. She did not falter. She looked him straight in the eyes.

“Okay, let’s eat then.” He said after a while.

“Yehey!” Zack exclaimed. He held one of her hands and then held Blaire’s hand with his other hand. By the looks of it, they are a picture of a happy and perfect family.

Now she wants to thank Zack. She can’t imagine how she can handle this situation without him.

When they entered the dining area, there were two people who greeted them.

“Good evening Blaire and Zack.” Said the man. And then he turned to her. “Good evening and welcome back Mrs. Castillejo.”

She noticed that he just addressed Balire and Zack on their first names but when he greeted her he was so formal.

“Good evening brother Romeo.” Blaire replied.

“Good evening big brother Romeo.” Zack said.

“Good evening Blaire and handsome boy.” Said the woman with a smile. And she turned to her, her smile faded. “Good evening Mrs. Castillejo.” She can feel animosity in her voice.

“Good evening Nana Amy.” Blaire replied.

“Good evening Nana.” Zack said.

“G-Good evening b-brother Romeo and n-nana Amy, and please call me Claire.” She said politely and smiled at them.

The two looked at each other upon hearing that and then focused their eyes on her again.

“D-Did I say something wrong?” She said, trying to figure out their reactions.

“It’s just that----”

“Nothing, nothing C-Claire.” Brother Romeo interrupted Nana Amy. Then she saw them looking at each other again.

She nodded and smiled awkwardly. When she looks at Blaire, he is looking at her intently. Suddenly she felt uneasy.

“We will be serving dinner now.” Nana Amy said. “Maria, Rose bring out the food.” She heard her calling two names.

Claire immediately went to Zack and pulled out one of the chairs. She lifted Zack and put him on the chair then she sat next to him. She does not need to be a mother for her to know how to take good care of a kid.

“Thank you mommy.” Zack said sweetly. She can see how happy he is.

“No worries, honey.” She said beaming at him.

She lifts her head up only to find out that 10 pairs of eyes are looking intently at her.

“I-Is there anything w-wrong?” She asked awkwardly. But it seems that they were all under a magic spell.

“It’s okay mommy. They are not used to my new mommy.” Zack said.

When they heard Zack saying that, everybody went back to normal. Blaire took his seat and then Maria and Rose started putting food on the table. Her only problem now is, she does not know who Maria is or who Rose is between these two girls.

Zack led a short but beautiful grace before the meal and as they started eating he asked him. "What do you want Zacky?”

Blaire looked at her. She tried her best to concentrate on Zack and ignore his gazes.

“I want everything mommy.” Zack said.

She smiled upon hearing that and started putting a small portion of each food on his plate. Zack is bigger at his age. He also observed that he is so independent and smart. Something touches her heart upon seeing how genuinely happy the little boy is.

She promised to pamper Zack as long as she is in this situation. Well she does not have any plan on being in this situation for a long time. If Blaire’s real wife will not be back sooner, once she's done on her investigations on why they have the same name, face and birthdate, she’s planning to tell Blaire the truth.

In her peripheral vision, she can still see Blaire looking at her every move.

“Mommy, put some on Daddy’s plate too.” Zack said. That was the time that she looked at Blaire.

“Do you want something?” She asked bravely. Trying to hide that her heart was pounding so fast.

“You can put in some pasta.” He said. It seems that he is studying her face.

She put some pasta on his plate. She can still see him looking at her very intently. She tried to focus on Zack.

“Are you okay to eat with your own Zacky?”

“Yes mommy, Zacky is a big boy now.” He said and continued eating.

She put pasta on her plate and started eating too. She can still see Blaire not leaving his gazes on her. To avoid his gazes, she is checking Zack once in a while and there are times that she was wiping his lips with a table napkin.

“Claire.”

She just took her last spoon of pasta in her mouth when she heard him calling her name. She was looking for another table napkin before she wanted to face him but she couldn't see any. She used her table napkin to Zack.

“Claire, look at me.” He said. There was something in his voice that made her face him immediately. The next thing he did surprised her and made her heart beat so loud!
