Chapter 65: Chapter 65
Sebastian came up to my side and gestured with his hands towards the dummies for me to try it. So I raised the gun and I closed one eye, trying to aim at the abdomen. I pressed the trigger and a cartridge dropped on the floor as a bullet shot through the air. It didn't hit my target, instead, it hit the dummy's abdomen.
I moved the gun to the shoulder and pressed the trigger then the arm, the knee, the foot, cartridges dropping onto the floor for each one, but I missed each one. Some hit the wall behind the dummy like the shoulder and the arm, but the knee hit the thigh and the foot hit the ankle. I let my hand drop as I glanced at Sebastian, hoping that he wouldn't be very disappointed.
I was surprised to see that he didn't look disappointed, but his lips twitched up into a smile as amusement showed on his face. He took the gun from my hands and I pulled the head phones to my neck as he said, "Here, let me show you. Watch me and learn."
"Okay."
Sebastian used one hand to hold the gun and raised it up to aim it towards the abdomen of the dummy. He pressed the trigger and a cartridge fell from the bottom of the gun as a bullet shot through the air and hit the dummy right in the abdomen. He swiftly moved his hand to aim at the shoulder and released another bullet. It zipped through the air and hit it right at the shoulder as another cartridge dropped on the floor.
Moving his hand to the knee, he released the trigger again and then the foot, the bullet hitting his targets each time as cartridges dropped on the floor. I felt my face flush in a blush at how hot he looked firing those shots. He dropped his hand and turned to me, "That's how you do it."
"Okay, your shooting looks amazing, but I'm not sure if mine will be as good." I said, feeling unsure about how things were going.
He looked amused at my words and handed the gun back to me, "You shouldn't doubt yourself, cupcake. You'll do as good as me."
I took the gun and let out a breath, "Okay, I'll trust in myself more."
"Yeah, that's the spirit, now you try."
"Alright." I replied to him as I took the gun from him and wrapped both hands around it.
I raised the gun and aimed it at the abdomen of the dummy then released the trigger. A cartridge dropped to the floor as a bullet shot through the air and hit the thigh of the dummy. I groaned and glanced at him, "You see what I'm saying? I'm not even close to as good as you."
Sebastian chuckled as he folded his arms across his chest, "That's because you just started, but with more practice, you'll become perfect I promise."
I let out a sigh, "Okay, I'll believe in your words and try my best while hoping to become better."
"That's my cupcake."
I turned back to face the dummy and continued practicing shooting. We spent all morning and early afternoon there before I got tired and we climbed up the stairs to get some lunch. As we reached the door of the basement, he took my hand and led me towards a hallway that I have never been to before. We walked down towards the end and soon, we were in the dining area where all the pack members that were home were sitting.
They stopped what they were discussing and turned to us when we walked in. Sebastian tugged me towards the head of the table which was empty. He sat down there and I sat down on his right as I noticed Beta Adam on his left. Jared and Connor were beside him while Katie and Lisa were beside me. Even Ashley was there with her friends, but she ducked her head and stared at her plate from embarrassment.
"Alpha, we were waiting for you and Luna before we started eating, but now that you're here, we will start." Beta Adam said, looking between Sebastian and I.
"You didn't have to wait, you know." Sebastian replied to him as he picked up his fork to start eating the mixed potato and mushroom dish.
I picked up my fork to start eating too as Beta Adam replied to him, "We know, but it's a pack tradition to wait for the Alpha and Luna."
My mate looked amused as he shook his head, "Fine, do as you wish."
"Thank you, Alpha." Adam along with every pack member there chorused. They all started eating too while some talked amongst their friends and those sitting close to them.
I smiled at how much they respect him and how much they wanted to stick to the olden werewolf days unlike many werewolves that only wanted to be modern and follow the human ways. My parents have never been a fan of that and neither did my siblings and I. We all wanted to follow old werewolf traditions, but we also knew nothing about packs since our grandparents weren't in a pack.
They had wanted to be free and like humans, but our great grandparents have been in a small one where our great grandpa was an Alpha. I guess that was how I became an Alpha's fated mate since Alpha blood was passed down our family and now, I was Luna. Having a pack was also what made my parents like Cameron and Sebastian very much.
They would love it when they are also initiated into the pack, but I knew that there was no ritual for that. The ritual was only for initiating a Luna after the Alpha has marked her. I chewed on my food as I got lost in my thoughts and I heard my wolf's soothing voice say, 'You have such strong Alpha blood flowing through you, little Kat. Even though you are not aware of your full potential, I am and I know that you can do so much more.'
I felt curious at her words and a frown fell on my brows as I asked her in my head, 'What do you mean by so much more?'
'You will become stronger than you think and more powerful. That is why you are fated to have such a more and strong Alpha as your mate. Everything happens for a reason and everything happens at the right time.'
'Whoa! You sounded so wise saying that, but I also know that you're really wise.' I commented as I took another bite from my fork.
She snorted playfully, 'Yes, I am wise and so are you. We are one.'
I smiled as I chewed, 'Yes, we are.'
"What are you thinking so hard about, cupcake?" Sebastian's voice moved my attention to him.
Our eyes clashed. His alluring dark eyes captured my hazel ones and I felt myself being pulled to him as if a magnet was drawing me to him. My heart raced at his intense stare and my body started heating up as the s*xual tension between us thickened. I wanted to drown in his gorgeous eyes and to kiss him senseless, but I was aware that we were at the dinner table.
So I pulled my eyes down to his chest as a blush rose on my cheeks, feeling embarrassed that we were being watched in such an intimate moment. I cleared my throat and breathed out a reply, "I was just talking with my wolf about how the modern world has changed werewolves and how old traditions like packs have been lost."
I heard the amusement in his voice at how shy I was acting and as he replied to me, "Yes, it's a shame that most werewolves want to be free when in the old ages, being without a back means that you're a rogue, an outcast and an a rabid werewolf."
"It must have been because werewolves now live in human civilisations, so they feel the need to fit in and be like them which led to many werewolves abandoning their packs to be free." Beta Adam commented as he chewed on his food, drawing our attention to him.
"Yeah, and from there, most werewolves decided to be free and only those with Alpha blood cared about forming packs." Lisa added as she stabbed her potatoes and mushroom.
"Not all Alphas care about packs now. Some Alphas prefer to run alone and be without their pack even though it was unhealthy for them." Sebastian clarified as he chewed on his food.
"What do you mean by unhealthy?" I asked, curiously.
He moved his gaze to me as he answered me, "Alphas are stronger around their packs and strongest with their Luna beside them."
I nodded in understanding, "Ahh, that makes a lot of sense. That must be why Alphas care a lot more about having a pack than ordinary wolves."
"Not only because of that, but also because Alphas have a natural instinct to lead and protect, so that draws other wolves to them to form a pack even if they don't search for them to join their pack." Jared explained to me further as he gestured animatedly with his fork in hand.
I felt amazed at his words, "Wow! That is incredible! So is that how the rest of the pack formed? I know that you four have been best friends from childhood."
Connor, Lisa, Jared and Katie nodded as Katie said, "Yeah, like I told you earlier, it has been less than a year since I joined this pack and I actually knew about it when I saw Alpha Sebastian in the city. I knew that he was an Alpha and I wanted to join his pack."
Sebastian nodded, "Yeah, that's pretty much what happened with a few of them in the pack except for those that their parents were part of the pack when my Dad was Alpha and then Lisa and Selena. They were brought in by their mates."
"Selena has a mate? Who?" I asked, feeling surprised as I looked over at her talking with Tucker and Oscar.
