Chapter 19: Chapter 19
She woke up, her head banging, "Owl!" With pain she muttered, cringing her face.
"Hey, take it easy tigress," Ivan told her, making her rest back on the bed and adjusting the pillows and saying "You're strong Ruth."
"I thought I was going to die," in sorrow she said.
"If we'd stayed longer than an hour, you could have died, we came just in time"
"My lips feel dry and my throat is not any better" Ivan chuckled, Ruth laughed,
"Here, drink up," he offered her a glass of water.
"Ah, that felt good, where's Jasper?" "It is good to see you too, we were fucking scared."
"I'm sorry Anjali," he laughed.
"Hey, did you call me Anjali, wow!" I thought you all preferred Ruth.
"Anjali" Ezekiel called. They didn't notice the others entering the room.
"Hey, you too," she laughed so hard that it caused her pains, "Wow, my head," she smiled.
"Oh, sorry uh," Louie told her, he hugged her, squeezing her back, "I'm sorry about the girls, and it's not like I don't like you, I do, I really do, I'm just a jerk not to know how to show it," he added.
"Are you saying these things to make me feel better?" she asked wrinkling her face.
"If it makes you feel any better, I'm happy" "Yes" she squealed.
Stacie knelt beside her bed, holding her hands "I'm sorry too" tears dripped down her cheeks, "I'm sorry to back out from the plans, so sad I didn't go out with you, so sorry Ruth. "
She was about to talk when Danielle held her, though she was on the bed beside her, "Everyone is so sorry too, I know there's nothing I would say to change what I said before, deep down I apologize, hope this will not ruin our friendship, knowing you've lost one before. You wouldn't want to lose another," then Ruth cut her off.
"You've lost this, next time think before talking, maybe it’s good that I know. All of you have no interest in me,” she said.
"Sorry" Danielle said in tears.
"As if I care, I could have died and if I had, it wouldn't change nothing. Would you feel it? But your guilt would kill you. When your conscience tortures you. A father ghost wouldn't have hit my head on the door while four unusual people were behind me, watching." She was crying too, "Wait, four unusual people?" Patrick asked.
"Yes, there were eight ghosts, they stood outside, I thought they wouldn't follow me, but they did" she explained. Jasper told Ezekiel to move for some minutes so he could speak with his girlfriend. He sat on the edge of the bed, massaging her feet.
"Baby girl, don't say anything until I'm done talking he told her," he kept on rubbing her feet's slightly, taking his time to do so, he looked her straight In her eyes.
"You remember the first time I saw you," she smiled and nodded her head.
"Do you remember that night we sat on the rooftop of my house and I'd held your hand and told you how beautiful you are." He continued.
We talked so much that day that we realized not we were on the roof till mid morning.
"There are a whole lot of memories and moments we've shared together, you've had memories with everyone here and you can't just throw it away just like that, I love you Ruth and I want you to understand that life is too short to keep grudges or stay mad at people forever, forgive and let it go," he begged her.
"Jas, leave me alone, I'm feeling sleepy" she adjusted herself on the bed and pretended to sleep so they would leave her alone.
