Chapter 89: Chapter 89

Valerie was wheeled to the emergency room on the stretcher. She was unconscious as they wheeled.

“Sir, I'm sorry you can't get into the emergency room. Please stay in the lobby.” One of the nurses restricted him.

President Ethan scratched his head, confused. Valerie was obviously poisoned, but who could have poisoned her? Thoughts kept running through his mind.

Shortly, Susan rushed towards Ethan. She quickly grabbed his shirt, wailing sadly. “Where is Valerie? Where's my best friend?”

“Oh! Thank goodness you're here, she's in the emergency room. The doctor has yet to tell me what's going on.” Ethan replied.

Susan continued sobbing. “Tell me, what happened? Did she get into an accident? We spoke this morning, and she was hale and hearty.”

“I really can't say. The only thing I know is that she rushed downstairs, vomiting blood.” He explained.

“Blood? Oh, God! Why is this happening to my friend? I hope she's okay. I don't know what I would do if something happens to her.”

They were still discussing when Andrew came in with Nicole. Susan ran to Andrew, hugging him and crying helplessly. “She's in the emergency room, Andy. I hope my best friend will be fine.”

Seeing how devastated she was, Andrew consoled her. “Get a hold of yourself, Suzy. Valerie is a strong girl, I'm sure she will get through this.”

“Gosh! If only she heeded to my advice and remained at my place, I'm certain this wouldn't have happened.” Nicole freaked out.

With that, Ethan turned to him with arched brows. “What are you talking about? You think I'm happy that this happened to her?”

“Yes, this is all your fault. You just cannot take care of her, all you care about is your daughter.” Nicole yelled.

“You…”

Susan banged the chair, making them stop arguing. “What is the meaning of this? Can you guys just stop? My best friend is in there struggling for her life, and here you both are exchanging blame. Is this the right time to argue?”

“Susan is right. We should all be praying that she'll be fine and not arguing.” Andrew said as they turned their gazes away from each other.

A few minutes later, Ethan and Susan were summoned to the doctor's office. Getting seated, he adjusted his tie and asked. “Doctor, I'm getting impatient. Please tell me, what exactly is wrong with her?”

“President Ethan, we've conducted several tests, and it confirmed that she was poisoned.” The doctor replied.

Susan twitched her brows, and asked anxiously. “Poisoned? Who could have poisoned my friend?”

The doctor cleared his throat and continued. “Poison was found in her blood. It's a good thing she was brought to the hospital immediately, if not the story might be a different thing entirely.”

“Poison? In my house? Who dares to do that to her?” Ethan thought out loud.

“How is she doing now, doctor? Is she getting any better? When is she going to regain consciousness?” Susan asked anxiously.

“Thankfully, the poison hasn't gotten into the vital organs in her body. She'll regain consciousness soon.” The doctor shook his head.

Heaving a sigh of relief, Susan smiled. “Oh, thank God!”

Two days later, Valerie was discharged from the hospital. She had gotten better, but needed to recuperate.

At the Davison's villa, President Ethan was seated on the armchair while the maid, Regina, knelt in front of him. Valerie sat on the couch opposite Ethan, wrapping her hand around Audrey's neck.

“Are you deaf? Or you don't understand my question? Weren't you the one who served her the poisoned milkshake she drank?” Ethan freaked out.

Regina broke into fresh tears. “Yes, President. But I didn't add anything to her milkshake. I'm innocent, please have mercy on me.”

“Shut up! If there was nothing added to the milkshake, why was she poisoned? The milkshake was also confirmed poisoned.” Ethan sprang up from the armchair.

Regina continued sobbing. “I'm clueless about how the milkshake was poisoned. Please have mercy on me, Sir. Valerie, I didn't poison the milkshake.”

“Are you going to speak honestly, or do you want me to have you locked up behind bars for attempted murder?” Ethan roared.

Upon hearing being 'locked up behind bars'. Fear gripped Regina, and she started to shiver. “Behind bars? President, I'm the only child of my parents. Please, don't lock me up.”

“You have two minutes to tell the truth, or I'll have you locked up.” Ethan continued yelling.

After a few minutes of silence, Regina began. “I… I wasn't the one who added poison to her food. She… I…. I didn't prepare the milkshake by myself.”

“What? Who prepared it then?”

Regina gulped nervously. “Someone gave me the milkshake to give Valerie and….”

“And what? Who was it?” Impatient, Ethan slapped her hard and she fell on the hard floor.

“It was… it was Clara who poisoned the milkshake.” Regina cried out.

Valerie widened her eyes in shock. “Clara?”
