Chapter 87: Chapter 87
“Aww…. Patricia, my darling. You have the cutest baby boy.” Her mother hugged her as the nurse carried the baby.
Forcing a smile at her, Patricia replied. “Thank you, mom. Where's Justin, by the way?”
“Oh, I only saw him when I arrived, but I couldn't find him later. I was told he paid the hospital bills, and left.” Claudia, her mother said.
Upon hearing that, Patricia flashed back to the incident that happened before she went into labor. “Mom, may I ask you a question?”
“What is it, baby? I can see bitterness in your eyes. Today is supposed to be the happiest day of your life, you just got yourself a sister.” Claudia held her hand.
“Should I be happy? Should I really be happy after finding out that my husband is still seeing his ex?” Patricia sobbed.
Claudia boiled in anger to see her lovely daughter so sad. “Pat, you shouldn't cry. You just gave birth, and the least of the things you need now is worrying.”
“I'm trying not to get worried, but I just can't get over it. Mom, I just found out that my husband sent a gift to Valerie. Ever since we got married, he has never gotten anything for me, not even mistakenly.” Patricia sniffed hard.
Claudia bit her lower lip hard. Why is Valerie always taking everything that her daughter has always wanted? What's so special about her? Even her husband loves Valerie more than her daughter. “Patricia, get a hold of yourself. You are his legal wife, it doesn't matter if he still likes Valerie. But there is no way she's going to take him for you.”
“Sometimes, I just wish that I was his ex-girlfriend so that you will love me so much or maybe as much as I love him.” Patricia continued.
“Don't worry, child. I'll talk to him. Currently, I just want you to forget about him. Just think about you, son.” Claudia consoled her.
Patricia snapped at her. “No, mommy. All I want right now is for that f****** Valerie to be out of my way forever. I can't take it anymore. What does she keep taking everything away from me?”
“Calm down, Patricia. Don't you trust me anymore? You know I have my ways, right? I was able to throw her out of the house many years ago, it will be basic for me to get her out of this world forever. I just want you to get a hold of yourself while I think of something.” Claudia assured her and she nodded.
“No one dares make my daughter sad.”
…
“Are you sure you're okay with it? Don't you think your Dad will not get mad that you're calling me mommy?” Valerie worried.
Audrey pouted her mouth. “Why would he do that? He knows that I've always wanted a mommy. I'm sure he'll be so happy to know that I've gotten one.”
“Uhm… Audrey, it's not like I would rather not be your mommy for today. I just don't want to get into trouble.” Valerie replied.
With that, Audrey smiled. “You don't have anything to worry about, mommy. I'll bear any consequences that come from my actions. Let's go, Mom.”
Valerie felt so elated to know that Audrey sees her as her mother. She was fulfilled. Even if the daughter she had some years back couldn't call her Mom, at least Audrey could.
Without hesitation, they hopped into the car and the driver drove off.
“Mommy, you mustn't let anyone think you're not my Mom, okay? The party is only for mother and daughter. Driver?” Audrey called.
“Yes, Miss Audrey. Take us to the mall first.” Audrey said.
Turning swiftly, Valerie narrowed her eyes. “Mall? Why are we going to the mall instead of the party?”
“Oh, no! Mommy, don't tell me you want to attend the party in this old-looking dress, huh?” Audrey shook her head.
Confused, Valerie gulped hard. “Old? But this dress isn't old. Actually, it's still in fashion. I mean, it's still trending.”
“Trending? Mom, you are my mother, and you're supposed to be the best among all the mothers there. Driver, please hurry. We can't be late.” Audrey said.
“Sure, Miss.” The driver responded.
A few minutes later, they drove into the mall. Holding Valerie's hand, Audrey and Valerie walked into the mall.
In less than 30 minutes, they had already shopped for some dresses for Valerie. A make-up was applied on Valerie and she looked gorgeous.
“How do I look?” Valerie asked anxiously as smiles escaped Audrey's lips.
“You look absolutely stunning. Now you're ready to go to the party.” Audrey chuckled.
In no time, they arrived at the party. For the very first time in Audrey's life, she felt complete. Of course, the party was held every year by the parents of her classmates, but she never, for once, attended because it's a mother-daughter pool party.
Audrey walked in with so much excitement. Just then, a little girl of her age rushed to her. “Hey, Audrey.”
“Hi Lisa.” Audrey smiled at her.
“What are you doing here? Don't you know that this is a mother-daughter pool party? Fathers and not allowed to come.” Lisa mocked her.
Audrey snorted. “Whoever told you I came here with my dad?”
“Isn't he the only parent that you have? Everyone knows you have no mother, right?” Lisa laughed hysterically.
Blinking her tears back, Audrey smiled radiantly. “Well, I'm sorry to disappoint you, but my mother came here with me today.”
“You liar! Maybe you paid someone to pose as your mother, just because you want to be here. You can't always get everything you want, Audrey. Security, throw her out. She didn't come with her mother.” Lisa screamed.
Lisa's mother, who happened to be the host, rushed to Audrey. “You little mischief, why would you come here without your mother?”
“But I…” Audrey tried to speak.
Lisa snapped at her. “You, shut up!”
“Who dares bully my daughter?” Valerie walked in, and Lisa gasped.
“Mommy!” Audrey hugged her tight.
