Chapter 76: Chapter 76
“Valerie!” Susan and Andrew cried out as they stormed into the apartment.
On seeing that, Valerie struggled up and Susan stopped her immediately. “What are you trying to do, Valerie? You have a twisted ankle, and you're still stressing your leg out.”
“Oh, guys. I miss you both so much.” Valerie hugged them tightly.
Andrew dropped the nylon containing some freshly bought fruits. “We were so scared when you told us you were on leave because you needed to get better. You don't know how Susan has been crying since then.”
“I'm sorry, Andy. It's been weeks since I last saw you guys. I'm sorry I informed you late.” Valerie apologized.
“How is your twisted ankle? Are you getting any better? I hope it's not that painful?” Susan checked her ankle.
Valerie smiled. “Come on, guys. Stop treating me like a baby. I'm fine, okay?”
“Are you sure you're still going back to work for the Davison's? If you're really not comfortable working there again, then I'll advise you to quit. I'll help you get another decent job.” Susan snapped.
Valerie held Susan's hand. “Of course, Susan. President Ethan did absolutely nothing wrong to me. Besides, I'm already attached to Audrey. I don't want her to feel sad when I leave, so I'll still go back to the mansion after my leave.”
“If you say so. Where's Nicole?” Andrew raised his brows.
“He just stepped out for a few minutes. He'll be back soon.” Valerie replied as they continued chatting.
Meanwhile, President Ethan wheeled Audrey into the mansion as the servants who were standing by the door bowed gently.
Audrey, who had been quiet since they got into the mansion, finally spoke up after staring around like she was looking for someone. “Daddy, where is Miss old-fashioned?”
Ethan smiled at her, and patted her hair. “She's… she's not here.”
Upon hearing that, Audrey freaked out. “What? Why isn't she here? She didn't even come to pick me up from the hospital after I was discharged. Daddy, did you throw her out?”
“Of course not.” Ethan snapped.
Just then, a lady walked downstairs. She was grinning from ear to ear, and that got Audrey curious. She was sure that she hadn't seen the lady before.
“Good day, Sir. My name is Rosanne, I'm the new nanny.” The lady smiled at President Ethan. She was obviously drooling over him.
Audrey arched her brows at her father, who was still holding on to the handle of her wheelchair. “New nanny? Why do I need a new nanny, Dad?”
“Well you see Audrey, your Miss old-fashioned isn't feeling too well. So, she's on leave. That's the reason Miss Rosanne here will be your nanny for now. She'll take good care of you until Miss Watson gets better.” President Ethan replied.
Reluctantly, Audrey turned her gaze to the flirting lady, who couldn't get her eyes off her father. “I never said I wanted a nanny. If Miss old-fashioned is on leave, then I want to go to her house and stay with her.”
“What?”
Audrey shook her head. “Yes Daddy. I don't want anyone else, if not Miss old-fashioned.”
The lady cleared her throat, and said. “My child, I promise to take good care of you. All I want you to do is to comply.”
“Your child? How ridiculous! I'm not your child, and I will never be. Daddy, please get this lady out of here.” Audrey cried.
President Ethan bent over, and said to Audrey. “I know you want Miss Watson, but you also have to consider her health. If you really care about her, it's important for you to think of her welfare. You know she donated blood to you, right? I'm sure you saw her limping too, that's why she needs rest.”
Audrey gulped hard. She might not want the lady in front of her as her nanny, but she cares so much about Valerie. “How is she, daddy? Is she getting better? Take me to her. I want to see her, and make sure that she's okay.”
“She's fine, Audrey. She's at a place where she's been taking care of.” Ethan said.
With that, Audrey bowed her head. She wished her father would let her be with Miss old-fashioned, but that's impossible because she'll only be a bother to the recuperating Valerie. “How long is she going to be here?”
“Who?” President Ethan asked.
“Her!” Audrey pointed at Rosanne with her face frowned.
Ethan shook his head. “Audrey! I know you don't like her, but try to be a good girl. She's only here to take care of you because your favorite nanny is on leave. Just bear that in mind, and don't give her a hard time.”
“Whatever. Daddy, I'd like to take a nap.” Audrey heaved a sigh as Ethan carried her upstairs while the nanny, who couldn't get his eyes off Ethan, brought the wheelchair upstairs.
Audrey sat on the bed, and watched Rosanne arrange the bookshelf beside her bed. She couldn't help but feel disgusted at her sight.
Then, Rosanne picked up a picture of her father on the table and smiled flirtatiously. “Your Dad… your Dad is so cute.”
“Ridiculous!” Audrey scoffed.
“Do you want me to read this storybook for…?” Rosanne was still speaking as she picked up one of the books.
Audrey flinched on seeing her with the book. “Hey, Miss flirt! How dare you meddle with my Miss old-fashioned favorite storybook? Put that down now.”
“Oh! Which book would you like?” She dropped the book on the shelf.
Audrey snorted. “None. I don't want you. I don't want you to read for me. Likewise, I would rather not see you. Scram.”
“You little…. Listen, I'm your new nanny and you should be nice.” The lady furiously uttered.
Audrey laughed sarcastically. “Be nice? Unbelievable. Firstly, you're not qualified. Rule no. 1, do not flirt with my daddy. You're already flirting, Miss flirt.”
