Chapter 66: Chapter 66
“Ethan?” Rebecca scoffed in shock.
Ignoring her, Ethan helped Valerie up. He didn't even bother to spare a glance at her. “Can you walk on your own, Valerie?”
“Uhm… I'll try, sir” Valerie struggled up, but Ethan quickly carried her bridal style and headed upstairs.
Shocked and gobsmacked, Rebecca, who was still sitting on the ground, gasped. That was the height of it. Right in her presence, her so-called boyfriend carried the maid bridal style. Worst still, he slapped her hard on the face because of her.
The servants rushed to Rebecca, and helped her up. She groaned in pain. “Let… let go of me, silly things!” She slapped their hands off as she got up.
Fuming with anger, she grabbed her purse. Her heart was heavy, and for the first time in her life, she was not just embarrassed, she was humiliated in the presence of the servants. All she wanted was to hide her face.
Without hesitation, she ran out of the mansion, heading straight to her car. She pressed the key, and was about to hop into the car when Anastasia rushed to her. “Ma'am Rebecca, are you leaving already?”
Rebecca turned her gaze to her, and glared at her, then yelled furiously. “Get the hell out of my sight. I hate to see your disgusting face.”
Anastasia flinched in fear. She never expected Rebecca to be so furious. Besides, she was supposed to be her accomplice. “Are… are you okay, ma'am?”
“Are you deaf? Get out! You're so useless. Let's forget that we ever knew each other. You know what that means, right? Stay the f*** away from me if you don't want me to have you thrown out of the mansion.” Rebecca pushed her aside, and drove out of the compound.
Disappointed, Anastasia walked back into the mansion, wondering what she did wrong. She had actually gone to remind Rebecca of the money she had promised her. “Why is she so paranoid?”
Anastasia was about to enter the kitchen when she overheard the conversation between two of the servants.
“Did you see what happened earlier in the sitting room today?”
“Something happened? I didn't. What happened?”
The first servant laughed and clapped her hand. “Honestly, I was so excited when I saw it. The President Ethan slapped that proud Rebecca on the face just because of Valerie”.
“What? Are you sure about what you're saying?”
The first maid scoffed. “Do you think I'll be lying with such a crucial case? You needed to see how shocked the peacock was when she got slapped, for Valerie's sake.”
Upon hearing that, Anastasia cleared her throat noisily, disrupting their conversation. They quickly kept shut, and glared at her.
“Is this your duty post?” Anastasia laughed sarcastically.
“We're… we're doing our duty” The first servant panicked.
“Gossiping? Is that your way of minding your business?”
The second servant snorted. “Who made you the supervisor of our work? Face your kitchen, and mind your business.”
“You…”
They sighed and walked away, while Anastasia headed into the kitchen.
“So that's what happened. This is bad! Does that mean that the President has feelings for Valerie? No way!”
Meanwhile, Ethan dropped Valerie on the bed in the guest room. She tried as hard as possible to avoid eye contact with the President because she was still stunned by the way he was taking care of her.
There was silence between them. Ethan walked out of the room and came back with a first aid kit. “Lie down properly, Miss Watson.” He sounded formal again.
Without opposing, Valerie gently laid down on the bed. Her neck was still bleeding. Rebecca had dung into her neck with her long nails, and it was so deep.
“You should learn to defend yourself at some point, Miss Watson. Why would you let anyone do this to you without retaliating?” Ethan applied some mentholated liquid to her bleeding neck.
Valerie gulped. “I'm sorry, Sir.”
“You're sorry? What are you sorry for? This is about you defending yourself.” Ethan snapped.
Valerie bit her lips and continued. “I apologize for being the reason you are having issues with your girlfriend. It's all my fault that she misunderstood. I promise not to do that again.”
“You did nothing. Rebecca was just getting worked up over nothing. We did nothing wrong, and you don't have any intentions of seducing me, or do you?” President Ethan raised his brows, staring directly into her eyes.
Valerie's heart skipped a beat, and she felt uneasy like there were butterflies in her tummy.
“Oh God! How can only one man be this hot? Even his gulp can make anyone drool… His Adam's apple!! Does it mean I actually want to seduce him? Snap it off, Valerie.”
“Are you thinking of a way to seduce me?” President Ethan smiled mischievously.
Blinking rapidly, Valerie quickly turned her gaze away. Her heart was beating faster, and she felt hot all of a sudden. “I… I need to go to the restroom.”
“You twisted your ankle, have you forgotten? Do you want me to carry you to the restroom?” Ethan sounded more mischievous.
Valerie gulped. “No… I'm fine. I don't feel pressed anymore.”
“I'm only helping you because it's my fault you got wounded in the first place. Don't get it twisted.” He coldly replied.
“Of course not, Sir. I have no plans of taking anything to heart. I mean, I know…”
Valerie was still talking when he grabbed her waist. “Are you certain, Valerie?”
“Where is the peasant girl who attacked you, Becca? Show her to me.” They heard voices from downstairs.
Valerie gasped in fear. “What do I do?”
