Chapter 63: Chapter 63

“Bunch of losers!”

Rebecca ranted as she paced around in annoyance. The lady who had wanted to kidnap Audrey stood in front of her with another man. They were both bowing their heads in shame.

“We're sorry, Miss Becca. The little girl is brilliant, we never expected her to be that smart.” Sophia tried to explain.

“Bullshit! You're talking nonsense, and if you don't keep your freaking mouth shut, I'll be forced to slap it shut. Can you hear yourself? That little girl is just six years old, you knucklehead!” Rebecca yelled angrily.

The man snapped. “She just doesn't act her age. I don't know how she figured out that it wasn't her nanny who sent us to pick her up. I doubt that girl is six years old because…”

Rebecca rushed to him, and slapped him hard on the cheek. “Shut the f*** up! You should be ashamed of yourselves.”

“We're sorry” They chorused.

“Oh, sorry for your wretched selves. You're so gullible that a little girl was able to outsmart both of you. Such a shame!” Rebecca groaned in annoyance.

After a few minutes of silence, Sophia cleared her throat and said. “Uhm… Ma'am Rebecca, What do you plan to do next?”

“Really? Should I answer you? This was the best opportunity to get Valerie and that stubborn girl out of my way, but you messed it up.” Rebecca replied.

“I think if you want to get the little girl, you will have to go through the nanny. They have a strong relationship with each other” Sophia said.

Rebecca clenched her fist in annoyance. “Damn! I hate the fact that they're so close. Like, why would they be so close to each other as if they're mother and daughter.”

“They have so many similarities. Are you sure she's not her mother?” The man among them asked.

Rebecca exchanged glances with Sophia, and shook her head in disagreement. “I don't think so. That girl was conceived through IVF. I don't think Ethan would even let her mother know of her.”

“We have to think of a way to separate them if we want to succeed.”

Gobsmacked, Ethan turned his gaze away. Was it too obvious that he was overly concerned about Valerie? He cleared his throat noisily. “What… What are you talking about, Audrey?”

“Daddy, I think you like Miss old-fashioned. You've been uncomfortable ever since we got into the car without her.” Audrey folded her hands.

Nervously, Ethan smiled. “I'm just concerned about her because she's your nanny. Why would I like her? If I like her, then that's because she's taking good care of you.”

Audrey gulped with a shrug. “Are you angry, daddy?”

“Angry?” President Ethan raised a brow at her, and she nodded rapidly.

“Yes, daddy. Are you furious?”

“No. Why should I be?”

Audrey tutted a little before speaking. “Then why did you take your suit off? And the way you were staring at Uncle Nick, looks like you wanted to punch him in the face.”

President Ethan opened his mouth to speak, but words refused to come out of his mouth. He was short of words, staring at his little daughter, who was looking him straight in the eyes.

“Is this girl really six years old? Like, is she a little girl or an adult?”

If he didn't babysit and watched Audrey grow up right before his eyes, he would have doubted that she's a child.

Clearing his throat, Ethan smiled, trying to keep a calm face. “Audrey, you're just a child, you should be saying things that are meant only for adults.”

With that, Audrey pouted her mouth. They were already in the mansion, so they got down from the car.

There was silence between the father and daughter because Ethan was still lost in thought, thinking of the question little Audrey had asked him.

“Good night, daddy” Audrey waved at him from the stairs, and he smiled at her.

“Good night, baby. Are you sure you don't need me to help you put on your nightwear?” He asked, and she shook her head negatively.

“Of course not. Miss old-fashioned taught me how to dress on my own. I can do most things on my own now, so no, thanks, daddy.” Audrey smartly replied.

Ethan smiled. “Good girl!”

With that, Audrey walked upstairs while President Ethan walked towards the bar. His assistant rushed to him. “President Davison, do you need anything?”

“No, thank you. Actually, you can go home now. I'll take care of any other things.”

The excited assistant nodded his head. “Thank you, President Ethan.” He dropped some files on the table in the living room before walking away.

However, Ethan walked to the bar, and turned the lights on, loosening his tie. For a moment, he thought Audrey might be right because each time he thought of Valerie and Nicole holding hands, he felt so angry.

“That damn Valerie! Couldn't she turn Nicole's offer down?” He mumbled as he grabbed a bottle of vodka from the shelf. Without hesitation, he corked it open and gulped it down.

He thought of how passionately Nicole was defending Valerie, and kicked the table angrily, but ended up hurting himself. “Ouch.” He groaned in pain.

Without a second thought, he grabbed the bottle of vodka again, and drank from it like he was drinking water. In less than thirty minutes, he already drank close to three bottles of vodka, and was dead drunk.

Meanwhile, Valerie walked into the Davison's Mansion with a smile all over her face. She had a good time with Nicole, it's been long since they last spent time together like this.

She walked into the mansion. The lights were already off. “Did I come back that late?”

Likewise, she was about to head upstairs when she heard the crunching sound of a glass coming from the bar side.

“Who could that be?”

Without hesitation, she rushed over to the bar and turned on the light. To her greatest surprise, she saw President Ethan staggering, dead drunk.

“President Ethan?” She called with her eyes bulging out.

Ethan turned his gaze at her, smiling crazily. Then he pointed at her, and frowned. “You… why couldn't you turn him down? You can't… you can't”.

“What are you talking about, Sir? Why are you drinking? You shouldn't…” He was about to fall, and she helped him up, but they ended up falling together.

Reluctantly, Ethan raised his head and hiccuped. “You just can't… you can't stay away from Nicole, can you?”

“What?” Valerie struggled to get off him, but he grabbed her to his chest.
