Chapter 113: Chapter 113

The car drove into the church, and Valerie got down from the car with Susan.

Immediately President Ethan sighted her, he ran to her with smiles all over his face. “Hey! Are you okay?”

“Yes, I am. Why do we need to switch to another car on our way here? I mean, we were supposed to drive in with a Lamborghini, but we took a bus instead.” Valerie stared at him confused.

President Ethan smiled. “Actually, I just had a bad feeling about it, which is why I had you guys switch to another car. I just got a call that the car you were in was ambushed.”

Fear gripped Valerie as her jaw dropped in shock. She stared at her friend, who was also as gobsmacked as she was. “Ambushed? Someone got shot, huh?”

“Apparently, the gunners thought you were still in the car, which is why they ambushed the car in the first place. Smart enough, I figured out that something bad might happen.” Ethan smiled.

Exhaling deeply, Valerie bit her lips. She just couldn't stop herself from panicking. “Ethan, are you sure nothing bad is going to happen? I feel unsettled.”

“Why? Is that because I told you what happened? You have nothing to worry about, I got this!” Ethan replied as he kissed her fist.

Susan cleared her throat noisily to notify that she was still there. “Oh, God! I feel like I'm suffocating.” She teased as they shared a laugh.

Walking down the aisle with her little Audrey, who was also dressed in bridal attire, was the best scene in Valerie's entire life. It was her perfect day.

The handsome man standing in front of her and her beautiful daughter walking side by side with her, they are her world.

She turned her gaze to her father, who was smiling broadly and cheering her, and then her pretentious stepmother, who couldn't even hide the jealousy written boldly on her face. How she wished it were her mother sitting beside her father.

“Mommy, go get your man.” Her daughter's whisper smacked her out of her thoughts. That was when she realized that she was close to the church altar.

She mouthed at Audrey. “Naughty girl.”

Without hesitation, she proceeded to the aisle. As soon as she got close to President Ethan, he held her wrist as they walked to the platform together.

The priest continued. “Ethan Davison, do you take Valerie Watson as your lawfully wedded wife, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, till death do you part?”

“Yes, I do.” Ethan snapped as the audience applauded him.

After the applause died down, the priest turned to Valerie. “Valerie Watson, do you take Ethan Davison as your lawfully wedded husband, to have and to hold, in sickness and in health, for richer or poorer, till death do you part?”

With a smile, Valerie nodded her head and said. “Yes, I do.”

They exchanged the rings and then, “kiss! Kiss”. They glued their lips together and were applauded.

Meanwhile, Rebecca was seated in a basement smoking the pipe like her life depended on it.

“Damn! How can that girl outsmart us like this, huh? You just wasted a bullet on nothing, you scum!” She yelled at one of her men.

Bowing his head in guilt, the man replied. “I'm sorry, boss.”

“Oh, you should be sorry for yourself. Right now as we speak, that girl is getting married to my man, do you know that?” Rebecca continued ranting.

After a few minutes of silence, the only female among the men spoke up. “Boss, I think this is not the right time for us to talk about this. I'm sure the wedding party will be taking place soon, isn't it the best time to unleash our plans?”

“They are already married. Don't you get it?” Rebecca kicked the table angrily.

The lady smirked. “We have a plan B, don't we?”

Rebecca kept mute, but then smiles crept into her face. Dropping the ashes from the cigarette into the ashtray, she got up from the bench. “It's time to party. Ethan, your extraordinary guest is about to show up.”

**

The hall was filled with many prominent guests. Patricia walked to a waiter to get a glass of wine when she overheard some ladies whispering.

The first lady started. “President Ethan's wife is so graceful. She's so lucky to be married to him.”

“Of course, I heard she's his daughter's mother. I wish I were the one getting married to such a perfect young man.” The second lady said, rather dreamily.

The first lady looked around before whispering again. “I heard her step-sister stole her boyfriend away from her a few years back. That sister of hers must be regretting stealing the poor boy instead of a good catch.”

Bursting into laughter, the second lady continued. “What a pity! If I were her, I'd flaunt my new husband right in her face so that she'll see who I ended up with. Such a useless and unlucky step-sister she has!”

With that, they laughed hysterically and continued eating.

Tears circulated in Patricia's eyes as she clenched her fist in annoyance. Now, everyone sees her as a loser. The so-called boyfriend she had stolen from her step-sister has already divorced her.

She ran off in tears, and bumped into her mother. “Patricia, baby, are you okay?”

“Okay? Are you kidding me, Mom? How do you expect me to be okay? It's my f****** step-sister who is getting married, why should I be happy when I'm being seen as a loser?” Patricia cried out before rushing into the restroom.

The party was going so well until Rebecca stepped into the hall. Everyone started murmuring, knowing fully well that she's Ethan's ex-girlfriend. Funny enough, she was dressed in a bikini for the wedding.

Ethan walked up to her and whispered. “What are you doing here, Rebecca? Why are you dressed in a bikini?”

“Why can't I? Isn't your wife a call-girl? Or should I call her a prostitute?” Rebecca laughed.

Fuming, Ethan grabbed her by the neck and she choked helplessly. “How dare you?”

“Let go of her.” Mrs. Davison rushed to rescue her from his grip.

“You think I'm lying? Everyone, watch this video and confirm what I just said.” Rebecca brought out a remote control and turned the large movie projector.

Everyone gasped in shock as the murmuring continued. Valerie fell on her knees and burst into tears.
