Chapter 82: Chapter 82
She got up after what felt like hours. She started walking toward the exit of the park. The sun had already set and darkness was slowly engulfing the surroundings. She did not want to move, but she knew that she had to.
She was so devastated. What would she tell her mom? She was so happy that her daughter had finally found someone for herself who loved her and cared for her. In front of her, they put up a perfect picture of the happily married couple. She would not be able to take such a harsh piece of reality.
Olivia knew that her pretended marriage would have to come to an end sooner or later, but she was not aware that it would be this soon.
What hurt her the most was not that he had decided to call the fake wedding off. Her heart had broken into pieces because she thought he might feel something for her. She thought that he would somehow reciprocate her feelings. She thought that he would not blame her father anymore for an accident that happened years ago. But he did not stop blaming him. He was even blaming her for something she had no control over. Nobody had control over the miserable event that unfolded. Didn’t she also lose her precious father in the accident? Wasn’t she also an orphan who lived her life being the bread-earner of the family from a very young age because she had no father to take care of her and her sick mom?
Why was she facing the brunt of everything? What was her sin? What did she do to deserve it?
A new wave of tears fell down her face as she exited the park and started walking. The area was quite secluded for some reason. She wanted a quiet space where no judgmental eyes would pry on her state as she was sure that she looked an eyesore.
“Are you thinking about your appearance when your life is falling apart?” The little voice in her head says making her chuckle.
It was her way of distracting herself from the pain, she realized.
She walked for some time more. She felt a presence behind her, but she knew that it was the driver whom she refused to cooperate with. She told him earlier that she wanted to be on her own and did not need anyone following her. However, she saw him following her earlier. Now too, she was being followed.
She sighed with frustration, realizing that she could not even be miserable alone. Nevertheless, she knew that she could not do anything about it. Thomas’s grandpa James was a stuck-up man who ran by “rules” that he imposed on everyone around him.
Why should she follow his rules though when she was no longer part of his family? Thomas was going to release her soon. She did not have to abide by those ridiculous rules anymore nor did she have to be followed like a little girl anymore.
Deciding that she had had enough, she stopped in her tracks and turned around. Thomas was not there for her to lash out her anger. She would do that to the driver. It was beyond her why she even needed to be followed. Was she someone important? No! Did she have enemies? No! Was she going to meet a secret lover? No! Why the hell did the old grandpa think she needed to be followed?
It was not the driver’s fault. She knew it. However, she was tired of everyone treating her like she was someone with no individuality, no personal space, no emotions, and no self-respect.
She was full of rage when she turned around to face him, but all the colors left her face as soon as she saw the person in front of her.
It Was Not the Driver!
What the hell was he doing there? She felt a cold wave of shivers run through her body. No, it was not because of the weather that suddenly became chilly.
“W-what are you doing here?” She asked stuttering. She did not know why she was feeling so scared.
She saw him after months. It would not have been a lie to say that she had completely forgotten about him. Her life had taken new turns of a rollercoaster ride and she did not have any space to reminisce about the old days. It was not even that old, yet, she did not think she would see him in front of her while she was completely alone in a dark pathway.
“Hello to you too, baby girl.” He heard him sneer. Her eyes widened listening to his creepy tone.
He was dressed in jeans and a white shirt with a black jacket. His hair was also slicked back. Nobody would guess what kind of a creep he was if one looked at his attire. She knew exactly what kind of a person he was.
She was truly feeling scared for genuine reasons. She looked around and except for a few cars, she did not see anyone on the road. She did not think anybody would save her if the situation arose. She had herself only.
Oh! How she wished the driver was there at that moment. It was ironic how she wished for him to be there when she intended to lash out at him earlier for violating her personal space. Nevertheless, he was not there.
She saw him taking a few steps forward with the same sneer on his face. She backed away while looking at him cautiously. She was not aware why she was not running away. Maybe, she wanted to make sure of his moves before running away.
“Scared? Aren’t you little, Olive? Last time, you were so feisty. I also remember how rude you were. Do you remember? Because I remember it very well.” He said with a menacing laugh. She even noticed a shiny object in his hand. It sparkled under the moonlight. Upon a closer look, she realized with horror that it was a knife.
Oh God! She never took him for a psychopath but he did look like one at that moment.
The adrenaline rush urged her to run fast, and that was exactly what she did. She could not stand there and look out for his moves. She had to save herself. It was already dark as it was. She did not even know where she was in her hazy state. She had not remembered her way in her hazy state. It did not matter though. What mattered was for her to run away from there.
She sent a prayer to the sky as she ran with all in her. She could hear his rushed footsteps after her. It was not even that long when he caught up to her and pushed her, knocking her to the ground.
“Ahhhh!” He felt her breath leave her lungs as she fell with a loud thud. Before she could scream, he put the knife on her neck.
“Shhh! If I were you, I would not scream.” He barked a laugh as he saw the horror in her eyes. The scream dried up in her throat.
“What do you want from me? Why are you doing this?” She could not help but ask despite being scared of him at that moment. She hissed and felt her body tremble a little when she felt him press the knife a little into her skin.
“Do you know what your pathetic excuse of a husband put me through? I lost my club. I lost my fucking club. I will never forgive him and you bitch. Because of you, he put me through hell. I don’t know what you whore did for him to act that way. What I know is that he snatched the most precious thing I owned and you are responsible for it. Don’t worry! I will not spare him. But first, I will take my revenge on you, and then, get back at that motherfucker.” He laughed darkly.
Olivia was finding it hard to grasp what he was saying. Did he lose his club? Because of her?
Why would Thomas do that to him when he did not care about her?
“Joe, I don’t know what happened. I don’t know anything. Let me go. Please!” She begged and struggled to push his hands away which were not budging. She knew that he had reached a point of no return. She saw how much rage he felt against her in his eyes.
He suddenly got up removing the knife. Before she could comprehend what he was doing, he grabbed her hair and dragged her to the bushes beside the road. She screamed with fear and moved her hands and feet to try to free herself, but he was strong. He kept pulling her forcefully until he stopped beside a tree, what felt like the edge of a forest, and pushed her hard against the tree. She hit her head and felt a slight concussion.
Tears fell down her eyes.
She did not do anything wrong to him. It was he who tried to force himself upon her and abused her when she worked as a stripper in his club. It was the same day Thomas came and saved her when both were strangers to one another. She did not know why he did that—why he saved her. However, she knew that something terrible might have happened if he did not appear that day.
Just like what was going to happen to her at that moment. She did not know how to save herself. Her body felt weak.
“Quit crying, you bitch!” He yelled sending a terrifying shiver down her spine.
“Let you go? Pfft! I have worked so hard to get you alone so I could take my revenge. Your asshole husband even put up a bodyguard for you. He was following you the whole time even today. You know what I did to him? I killed him.” He chuckled like a maniac. Olivia gasped as she heard him.
Was he talking about the driver? She was sure she saw him follow her earlier, but she did not see him after she came out of the café. She was right all this time.
B-but he killed him? It could not happen. God, let it be false, she thought while being on the verge of crying again.
“Nobody is here to save you. I won’t spare you. You know, I started seeing a therapist after I lost my club. I could not sleep for days. I would not suffer anymore. I will make you suffer first and then that motherfucker Thomas.” He chuckled again. She dragged herself and leaned against the tree—as if the tree would protect her against him.
He came closer and yanked her hair again. There were already bruises on her face from falling and being pushed against the ground. He laughed seeing her in pain.
“It is your last day. I cannot wait to see what your husband will feel about it. Will he be as sorrowful as I was when I lost my club? I bet he would be devastated. I cannot wait to see his face.” He said with utmost amusement as if he was not talking about someone’s life.
“You are pathetic. You are the worst piece of shit on this earth.” She did not know where it came from, but she said it. She did not want to show that he won. She did not want him to think she was scared although she indeed was.
She saw how his face changed colors. Her heart started thumping loudly inside her chest. She had insulted him when he had the upper hand and a weapon.
“Thomas! Please…Thomas, where are you?” She unintentionally called for him when she knew that he was not even aware of what was happening to her. It surprised her to know that she still relied upon him when she was in danger. It told her that she still needed him in her life.
If her life remained that is…
