Chapter 60: Chapter 60

He was busy sucking on her delicious lips. Everything around him had faded away. He did not even remember that they were in the hospital. Her sweet smell was hovering over his senses. He pulled her even closer.

He heard her little moan as he pulled her close. Her lips had started to respond fervously. From the way she was kissing him, he understood what Sana meant when she said she did not have a lot of experiences. But what mattered to him was that she was responding.

He was worried about not being able to ever kiss her after she ran away from him the other night. Now, he was sure that she did not want any intimacy between them not because she did not want it, but she was afraid. He was also aware of the reason now.

He smiled in between the kiss. He was holding her delicate face between his hands. Just like the other night, she was clutching in his shirt tightly.

Just then, they heard someone clear their throat. She pushed him in panic. Her face was red like tomatoes when she separated from him.

It was a nurse who was giving them a disapproving glare. She shook her head and went her way.

She wanted the ground to open up and swallow her. She could not believe she had kissed him in the hospital. She had so little self-control.

Thomas was smirking at her expression. She looked so cute being embarrassed and all. It all must have been new to her. Thinking about being the first guy to do all that with her was boosting his ego for some reasons. His heart felt warm to know that she had not allowed anyone else before him to kiss her like that, and she had allowed him.

How could he not have felt special?

He inched his hand closer to hers and grabbed her hand. She looked at him with shock. He was guaging her reaction. When she did not pull her hand away from him, he laced their fingers together.

Her breath was stuck in her throat seeing him do that. She was helpless infront of his advances. She just looked at him dumbfounded while he kept smiling at her.

She did not know whether his behaviour was strange or her reaction. She was taking all of it as if it was the most normal thing in the world. Why was she not doing anything? What had changed?

She had truly made a promise to herself that she would not allow herself to feel anything for anyone, especially cosidering the complications of her pretended marriage.

On the other hand, Thomas felt like he was floating. He had never—never felt such intense emotions about someone before. He felt like he had achieved something huge that day. She had not told him to stop or fuck off. It was an achievement in itself.

They sat there hand in hand—neither of them wanting to let go. Her heart was feeling a strange sense of content. She was not scared at that moment. She just wanted to live in it. Her mind screamed at her to let go of his hand, but she did not.

“If you want to go home and rest, go ahead please. I am here and Aunt Mary will be here soon.” She said. He, once again, had been with her the whole night. She cried on his chest and he hugged her. He kept comforting her that everything will be alright.

Sometimes, it made her think if their marriage was really fake. They behaved like a normal couple sometimes while they were also miles apart from each other.

“I will be here. We will wait until she wakes up.” He said making her nod as there was nothing she could do to convince him otherwise. She did feel bad though for making him suffer because of her.

“She has always been my moral support. When she was having her surgery inside, I felt like my world was falling apart. It is so hard to think about losing her some day.” She said with a sigh. They were sitting in silence, but she really wanted to share about her feelings. Her tearducts had stopped producing any more liquid as she had been crying since a week since they came back from their honeymoon. Thomas arranged everything with much hurry as they could not postpone it any longer. She was so grateful to him.

Thomas looked at her with an empathatic expression on his face, “You know when my parents were having their last moments in the hospital, I could not see them in such state. I never thought I would lose them one day—that too, in the same hospital, on the same date. They were my everything, but everything chnaged after I lost them. I changed.” He had a sad smile on his face. One of the reasons why it gave her comfort to share her worries to him was that she knew about his loss. She knew he would understand what she was going through.

Besides, she wanted him to let it out as well. He had suffered a lot.

“How were they like?” She asked. She had never really talked about his parents before. She did not know if he was comfortable talking to her about them. That was why she could not ask.

He smiled. “My dad was a family man. He put me and my mom above everything else. He even was not interested in my grandpa’s money. He loved me a lot. I remember the countless trips we both went to. And my mom…well, she was a gem. She was so strong and giving. Sometimes, when I look at you, I am reminded of her.” He said glancing her way with a soft look. She was shocked to hear that.

She never knew he thought that way about her.

“She belonged to a middle-class family that was why my grandpa did not approve their marriage at first. But they were persistent because they loved each other. They were love birds in true sense.” He said with a chuckle. He always wanted to find love like his parents when he was young. After seeing the real world, his perception changed. Nothing was real—not even love.

She smiled hearing their story, “They sound like great people.” She commented. She was afraid of asking the other question, but she did it anyway.

“How did it happen? I mean the accident.” She asked hesitantly. His soft expressions changed instantly. She regretted asking that question.

“I’m sorry. I should not have asked the question.” She said chasting herself mentally. He shook his head and let out a long breath. She thought he was angry for a second until he spoke.

“They were going somehwere with the driver. I came to know after the accident that the driver was in hurry, so he must have been rash-driving. I heard his daughter had an event in school that he wanted to attend. But it boils my blood to think about that. How could he have thought about his daughter and himself but not my parents’ lives? How can someone be that selfish? I hate that man. I will never forgive him.” He said with such an angry tone that she got afriad for a second. His hand’s grip had tightened on hers. The first time he saw her that angry was when he was beating up Leo.

But that was not what made her lose her breath. It was what he had said. She was so dumbfounded that she could not speak for a moment.

Could it be?

No! She refused to believe it. It could not happen. They had no link to eachother. How could she think that?

But something inside her was telling her to confirm her gut feeling. Her heart started beating fast.

“Did the driver survive?” She asked. Her voice felt like it was coming out of a well. She could not ever hear herself. She did not know why she wanted to torture herself, but it was very important for her to find out the truth. Despite not wanting to know, she had to know it.

He glanced at her and stared at her for a second. He was thinking something while looking at her face. His anger was still intact with no sign of sympathy whatsoever when he said the words that turned her world upside down.

“No.” He spat and turned his head around. Her heart was about to explode with the mixture of all kinds of worst emotions she was feeling inside. She felt like she would pass out. Everything came rushing back to her.

She was so young when it all happened. But she remembered. She remembered why it happened in the first place. She remembered the promise that caused everything. She remembered the reason why it happened in the first place.

She was the reason.
