Chapter 44: Chapter 44
“You look good.” Thomas complimented with a grin. She indeed looked great. She was wearing a button down shirtdress that was beige in color. She was also wearing brown sandals. Her hair was tied in a ponytail. She looked cute in the attire.
Thank God, the dresses were appropriate for the occasion. Sana had not packed some ridiculous outfits like she did with the “nightdresses”. She called her right away, but she did not pick up her phone. She wanted to lecture her. Now, she had no choice but to go shopping.
She did not have the money though. Thomas did transfer some money to her account, but she did not want to use them. It made her self-respect wounded to even think of using them.
“Thank you.” She responded. The air had been clear around them for some reason. They did not argue. It was very rare to have a situation when they did not argue, but it felt peaceful.
However, she did think of telling him to go without her. They were not on their actual honeymoon for him to take her to places. But seeing how excited he was, she changed her mind. Why was she doing that? She had no idea.
“Let’s go to a near restaurant. We will go do some sightseeing after that.” He said making her nod.
He looked handsome in his mint green shirt and jeans. She always got surprised at how perfectly built his body was. It was not to the extent that would freak someone out, but it was also not simple lean body. It was in between. But he looked great nonetheless. He must have worked a lot on his body.
She had seen his naked torso. It was perfect.
‘Why am I blushing?’ She thought with irritation.
“Get in.” He directed standing beside the car door when he saw her busy with her thoughts. She snapped out of his image from her mind, and when she did, she narrowed her eyes.
“Please.” He inserted taking in the change in her expressions. She shook her head but got in. He smiled as he saw her relax.
Just how easy it was to please her. Just say ‘thank you’ ‘please’ ‘sorry’ and she was as good as ever.
He took his seat beside her on the backseat of the car. The driver started the car. The afternoon breeze was so pleasing. He noticed her hair blowing again although it was tied in a ponytail. Why was that so attractive to watch?
She was tucking her hair behind her ear, but the wind was moving it away. He saw her pulling a pin out of her purse and putting the stray strand on its place. He smiled watching her. She was getting annoyed but still not closing the car window. It told him that she loved feeling the breeze on her skin. She had her eyes closed then as well with a content expression.
They reached the restaurant soon. It had Italian theme. She smiled remembering the restaurant in LA. He must love Italian food, she thought.
“I have been to the restaurant in Toronto. They have great food.” He said as they walked side by side inside.
“Ah!” She let out as she bumped into someone. She was listening to what Thomas was saying when she bumped into someone. It was so hard that she felt her head spin. Thomas quickly grabbed her arms to balance her and threw an ugly glare at the person who bumped into her.
“I am sorry.” The person apologized. Olivia’s head was down and she was grabbing the right side of her head. She looked up slightly but her mouth hung open.
“Leo?” She asked with sheer shock. The boy who was avoiding eye-contact with Thomas, who was throwing daggers at him, shot up his head and looked at Olivia with the same expression she had.
“Olivia?” He asked with wide eyes making Thomas’s angry glare turn into a confused one.
Olivia put her hand on her mouth as she grinned with the surprised expression still on her face.
“Oh my God, I cannot believe this. How have you been?” Leo asked as he opened his arms probably to give her a hug but Thomas blocked his way folding his arms. He looked so intimidating that Leo had to take a couple steps back. He was bigger than Leo as well. He was afraid he would knock him out with just a punch.
“Thomas?” Olivia said with narrowed eyes. Thomas stepped away slightly. He looked at Olivia who did not look pleased at his actions. But what was he to do? How dare he try to hug her? Whatever their relation was, he had no right to hug her in front of him. He was her husband after all—even if he was a fake one. He was still her husband.
“It is so nice to meet you here. I did not know you would be here.” Olivia said with a pleasant surprise on her face ignoring Thomas. She would deal with him later. She was happy to see her classmate. They were together since middle school until he had to leave for New York in the final year due to his father’s transfer who was a public officer.
She did not know she would meet him in Canada. It was not expected at all.
“Yeah. Um, I am surprised to see you here as well. I missed you. How is Sana?” He asked with a smile while eyeing Thomas who was still standing glaring at him. Rather, his glare intensified when he said he missed her. He clutched his fists.
“She is okay. Let’s go inside and talk if you don’t have anything to do at the moment.” She offered frankly making Thomas dig his nails in the palm of his hands.
He did not know why he was feeling so angry. They looked so close. Leo seemed like he was waiting for the opportunity as he shook his head.
“No. No. I don’t have anything to do. Um, who is this man?” He asked hesitantly and in a low voice. But Thomas heard it. That dickhead had the nerve to refer to him that way. He was Thomas Walker.
“Oh. This is Thomas. My-uh-husband. Thomas, this is my friend from school, Leo.” She introduced the two. She completely forgot to do it earlier. Thomas was behaving so rudely. He had the same rude expression on his face as Leo put his hand forward for a shake.
He did not take it.
The reason was that he noticed the change in Leo’s expression as she introduced him as her husband. He was smiling before but his smile disappeared. He did put a fake smile though when he put his hand forward which he did not shake.
“Um, let us go inside.” She tried to erase the awkward air that engulfed them after Thomas’s rudeness. Glaring at Thomas, she walked ahead with Leo. She was so angry.
Thomas did not follow them initially. When she noticed that he was standing on his original spot, she stopped and turned around with the same glare.
She folded her arms and cued for him to move. He contemplated leaving the place. But she would not have a ride back. The city was strange to her. She could lose her way or get lost. As angry as he was, he could not leave her alone with that creep.
Leo and Olivia were both waiting for him to come. He sighed and went inside, ahead of both of them.
So much for honeymoon! He thought bitterly.
He occupied a seat at the far end of the restaurant as it was his habit. He disliked to be among the chattering people. He liked to eat at a corner.
“I am sorry, Leo. He could be difficult sometimes.” She apologized as she threw another glare at him as they came closer to the table where he was sitting. He heard her.
He had no idea why he was putting with all of that. He had a big ego but he was still taking everything. He was even unwilling to leave her alone when he would not have thought twice if it was some other girl.
Why was he changing? He did not like the new side of him one bit.
“You were such a quiet girl in front of everyone, but only I know how naughty you were in middle school.” Leo said and laughed at his own words. Loser!
Olivia? Naughty?
There were probably a lot of things he did not know about her. It was making him angrier that the creep knew about her more than him.
He sipped water as he ignored the both—or tried to ignore. Their closeness kept getting his attention the entire time. He had a feeling that this Leo curse was going to haunt him the entire honeymoon period.
He would have been alone with her if he had not appeared all of a sudden.
