Chapter 30: Chapter 30
“Oh wow!” She heard someone say out loud as she tossed her bouquet. She looked at Mike who was looking behind her with an interesting expression on his face. The two men were standing side by side while the girls had lined up to catch her bouquet. She turned around to see in whose hands her bouquet had landed only to find out it was Sana.
She smiled from ear to ear looking at her best friend beaming with excitement. She always wanted to get married. She must have been so happy that the bouquet had landed on her lands.
She gave a curious look to Mike who was staring at Sana with a smirk. Was he already interested in her? She shook her head at him with a smile.
And Thomas had noticed the glance. He did not like it. It was beyond him why he was getting uncomfortable if his supposed wife looked at someone, but the smile she had on her face while looking at Mike was not appreciated especially when she did not caste him a glance when both the men were standing side by side.
They had just cut the cake and the wedding was almost at its end. He noticed an unusual change in his grandpa’s behavior throughout the whole wedding. He had not said a single word to him or Olivia and did not even go on the stage and congratulate them. He was still displeased with the wedding, he guessed. But thankfully, the wedding was going smoothly. The guests started having their dinner.
Olivia took a seat at the front table. He was looking at her when her friend came over to invite him to their table.
“I am sure you want to be with your bride. Let’s go to our table.” Sana invited him with a smile. God knew how much she wanted them to fall for one another. But it was not a movie. It was unlikely for a billionaire to fall in love with a poor girl. But she at least hoped that he was a gentleman and would treat her right.
She looked at the guy beside him. He had been staring at her for a while now. She narrowed her eyes at him and looked away as she saw him giving her a smirk.
“Jerk!” She thought to herself.
“Let’s go, Mike.” He invited his friend as well which made her roll her eyes at him. It made his smirk into a full blown smile. She did not have any problem with him except the fact that he was openly staring at her and ogling her. She did not like such guys—so cocky and for what?
He was handsome though. His eyes had deep ocean colour and depth and he had dirty blond hair. He was tall and lean with a charming effect but he had better options to do with his beautiful eyes aside from ogling girls.
Anyways, they went to take their seat. Sana let Thomas sit beside Olivia and took the left seat beside her. Mike sat beside Thomas which automatically meant he was sitting beside Sana as it was a table for four.
They had their lunch in a cozy atmosphere. Thomas was trying to make small talks with Olivia who was seemingly ignoring him. He could not understand why she would do that while she was completely normal with Sana and even Mike who she had just met for a little over an hour ago.
He became silent afterwards. If she did not want to talk, he was not dying to talk either. He was just doing that to appear normal in front of people.
“So, Olivia, how did you two meet?” Mike asked having a while having his drink. He looked at her. Finally, she was going to talk about him. She could not ignore him now, he thought.
He saw her having a sigh before smiling at Thomas. Now, you are smiling, huh?
“It was love at first sight. But not from my side—it was from his side. He fell madly in love with me at a club. We both met each other for a while. And then, he proposed after a few days.” She concluded with a mischievous look in her eyes as she looked at him smugly while sipping on her drink.
Sana almost choked on her drink. Her bestie was something.
He raised his eyebrows. That was not what they had agreed on.
“Oh, what about the part when you confessed to me first?” It was Thomas’s turn to add spice to the story. He said it so lovingly that everybody almost believed what he just said. He looked at Olivia who was narrowing her eyes at him and took her hand to leave a peck on the back of her hand.
“My God, I have never seen you this lovey-dovey.” Mike commented as Olivia pulled her hand from Thomas’s grip and glared at him.
He just smiled at her. Serves you right for making it all about me! He thought smugly.
They were almost done with their dinner as Mike kept making small talks with Sana. He was attracted to her from the first glance he laid on her. She was beautiful to say the least. Her blond hair and blue eyes were pulling him in. She was wearing a light blue gown which was complimenting her eye color, and her height also seemed perfect—not short and not too tall either.
Perhaps, he had found his ideal type. But the problem was that she was not looking interested in him. He knew she was probably annoyed at his staring at her, but he could not help it.
Thomas now made his way to his grandpa to announce that they were leaving. He knew the couple left first before the guests, so what was more of a great opportunity than that. He was tired.
“Grandpa, we are leaving. I am taking her to my condo for now. We will return after a few days.” He informed. James nodded because as mad as he was at him for choosing a middleclass girl as a bride, he understood that a newly-wed needed privacy.
He came to Olivia and told her that it was now time to leave. She sighed with relief. She had never-never done so much socializing in a day. After meeting with her mom, Marry and Sana, they left the venue and the house with blessings and rose patels pouring over them.
“Tired?” Thomas asked as he drove his car. He saw her laying her head on the window and closing her eyes.
“Hmm.” She murmured. She was so tired. It felt surreal that they had just went through a pretentious wedding ceremony. All those efforts just for it to be fake. Even if it was her real wedding, she would have still wanted a small wedding.
“Close your eyes and sleep until we reach there.” She nodded as she did what he said. She could not function anymore. She dozed off into a deep slumber and did not even know that they had reached the condo, and she was being carried by Thomas in his arms.
In her sleep, she felt like she was being moved so she opened her eyes only to find herself carried by Thomas in a bridal style—that too in the elevator with people staring at them and smiling fondly.
“What are you doing? Put me down!” She whisper-yelled at Thomas who was standing with her in his arms as if she weighed nothing. Heck, she was 54kg. She was feeling a bit insecure about her weight at that moment though she was not that heavy.
“I will put you down once we are inside.” He leaned down a little and whispered in her ear. The proximity was enough to send her heart into a frenzy. She could not understand at all why she was having such a reaction. She had not been with men like that—may be that was why!
Despite her struggles, he did not put her down and took her to his condo where everyone who passed them was staring and smiling at them—some people were even cooing at the newly-wed in their wedding attire being all sweet and having PDA in front of everyone.
She hid her face in his chest as there was nothing else she could do. She had kicked her feet in the air in hopes that he would let her go, but he had not done that. Instead, he grabbed her even tighter in his arms. She wanted to smack the smirk he was having at that moment.
He even did not let her go when he had to open the door. His stubborn ass would not allow him to give up on his promise and “tradition”!
When they were inside, he finally let her go as she almost made herself fall from his arms.
“Are you crazy? What if you fell on your face?” He said in a loud voice. She glared at him. Look at the nerve!
“You did not have to do that in front of these people.” She also raised her voice. She had had a long day, and he was making it more difficult for her. She never liked people’s glances on her and being the center-of-attention. Only she knew how she did her job as a stripper. Every hungry or dirty glance thrown her way was enough to make her cry herself to sleep sometimes. That was why she hated attention. Positive or not, attention made her uncomfortable now.
“I have had enough of you. For the whole day, I put up with your silly behavior. It was our wedding day, and everybody had their eyes on us. I have no wish to be frank with you or talk to you either. But you apparently did not understand your job. We are a married couple in others’ eyes, do you get me? I expect you to be a professional from now on, understood?” He was breathing heavily and glaring at her as he said that.
She could just stare blankly as he went to his room and slammed the door.
