Chapter 12: Chapter 12

Chapter Twelve: Goodbye Kyle

Nyla

I was beyond hurt over what Kyle had said to me at that moment when he asked if I did this to trap him, I felt like nothing. How could he think so low of me? Did he think that I was after his money? I like Kyle, or should I say love. He had broken me today and I felt like no amount of healing could repair me. I had stormed out after I had greeted his mother and sister and answered a few questions they had regarding Kyle and my “relationship.”

I had gone home right after, freshened up, and got dressed in my pajamas. With a bowl of ice cream, I got comfortable on the couch where I cried my eyes out because I was watching romantic movies. It reminded me of what I wanted with Kyle but couldn’t get. During one of the movies I saw that Kyle was calling my phone, but I refuse to answer him and listened to his sorry ass excuses, so I just ignored it and continued watching the movie. A message had come up sometime after saying that I had gotten a voice message and I ignored that also because I knew it was him. My body was getting tired after a while, seeing that it was late and I had been watching television for hours. Turning off the television, I walked into my room where I went to lay down. Lying in bed, I closed my eyes to get some sleep, but I was restless.

Curiosity was getting the best of me, and I really wanted to know what he had sent in the voice message, so I went back to the living room for my phone and listened to it. My heart was bleeding and tears were streaming down my face. He was hurting, he was truly sorry for what he had said. I could hear it in his voice, and I was so stupid for not waiting for him to apologize. Running to my room, I changed into my blue jeans, black ruffled front top, and my black flats before I hurriedly exited my home, taking a cab to Kyle’s.

Reaching his house, I paid the driver and got out. Walking up to the front door, I saw it was wide open. I started panicking, he never leaves his front door open and the inside was dark. Thinking something had happened to him, I quickly ran up the steps trying not to fall on any. Reaching his room, I push the door wide open.

The sight in front of me nearly caused me to faint. A blond girl was on top of him kissing him all over and he seemed to be enjoying it. All I could see was red, and I wanted to pull her hair and drag her down the stairs and I was tempted to do it, but then I heard him moaned, “Shit that feels good.”

My heart was constricting inside of my chest and I felt so much pain. Silently crying, I wanted to go off on him, but the only thing that came out of my mouth was “I hope she makes you feel better than good,” before I ran down the stairs. I could hear him calling out to me, but I wasn't going to stop. That would be foolish of me. I thought he was hurting, but I guess I was wrong.

Kyle didn't love me, he just wanted to use my body - but then again, I'm really an idiot- that's why he had given me the contract to sign. He didn't want any other relationship but a sexual one. I totally misread the signs that were there, thinking that something had developed and we could be in a relationship. Reaching the front door, his cries were louder by the minute. Turning around, my eyes were now adjusted to the dark, and I saw that he was about to walk down the stairs but he had lost his footing and fell. Crying out his name, I ran over to him and saw that he was unconscious.

“Help,” I screamed.

His mom and sister had rushed down when I started shouting for help, turning on the lights; they saw an unconscious Kyle lying in my arms with blood running out of his mouth. “Someone call 911 please,” I shouted. Taking out her phone, Emma dialed the number and told the operator what had happened and within ten minutes an ambulance had arrived. Running up the stairs Emma went to fetch Kyle’s key before coming back down. Exiting his home, we got in his car. With Emma at the wheel, his mom in the front passenger seat and I’m in the back, we followed the ambulance out of his driveway. Looking back at the house, I saw the female that was inside with him exiting. Watching her walked down the driveway- the way she walked, something about her was very familiar.

Reaching the hospital, Kyle was rushed in and was placed in surgery. A few minutes later, the doctor had come to inform us that Kyle’s ribs had cracked and that he was bleeding internally. We were all sitting in the family waiting room waiting nervously for another update. A Few hours had passed before the doctor finally came back.

“Are you the family of the young man that came in a few hours ago?” He asked.

“Yes,” Mrs. Hernandez and Emma both responded simultaneously.

“And you are?” He asked referring to me.

“I’m his girlfriend,” I lied.

“Can you tell me the name of the patient?”

“Kyle Hernandez,” Emma spoke up.

“Kyle had pulled out of surgery just fine. We had to perform emergency surgery to stop the bleeding but he’s still unconscious.”

“Can I see him?” I asked the doctor.

“Sure, you and his family-”

“No, I want to see him alone,” I interrupted.

Looking at his mother and sister they nodded their head in approval. Walking inside his room, I saw that he looked fragile, pale, and weak. Touching his hand, I started crying because I know what I am about to do is going to probably hurt him worse than the pain that he will be feeling when he wakes up. Looking around his room, I saw a drawer. Yanking it open, I saw what I was looking for.

Taking out the pen and the paper, I started writing. Every word that I wrote a tear fell on the paper, dampening it. Kissing his cheek, I told him I loved him and that I will miss him before I tucked the paper into his hand. Walking out of his room and his life for good, I didn’t even glance back because I knew that if I did, I would break down and stay.
