Chapter 303: Chapter 303

For some reason, when she faced him again, she was able to deal with the mess in her heart with tranquility.

"Ah Bing, I hope you will focus more on your work in the future, and I will do the same. I don’t want it to be every day," Hua Xiaomo said, her beautiful face shadowed by gloom.

"I know, and I’m sorry for all the hardship you’ve endured. But I truly care about you, Xiao Mo," Qi Longbing looked at her. Even though she might not have a place for him in her heart, he could see that, right now, she still loved him.

So how could he easily give up?

"Thank you for being good to me. I’m truly touched, but Ah Bing..." Hua Xiaomo sighed, then stopped talking. Suddenly, she looked up and noticed a figure. "Jiang Shuying!"

Just as Hua Xiaomo was about to greet Jiang Shuying, she saw her glance over with a panicked expression, then hurry away.

Qi Longbing followed her gaze and recognized the woman disappearing into the distance as the one from the bar.

"Why did she leave?" Hua Xiaomo asked, puzzled as she looked at Jiang Shuna. She didn’t quite understand what was going on between Jiang Shuna and Qi Longbing. But intuition told her that Jiang Shuna was definitely keeping something from her. Yes, she remembered Jiang Shuna definitely had a fondness for Qi Longbing.

"Never mind her," Qi Longbing said, his eyes fixed only on the woman before him.

"Ah Bing, I will need to accompany Qi Lingfeng abroad for his treatment soon."

"Do you really have to go with him to America for treatment? Why?" Qi Longbing asked, unable to understand many things, including her actions.

Wasn’t he, Qi Longbing, good enough for her? What didn’t she have?

Alright, she never asked him for anything, but that didn’t mean he didn’t want to give her everything!

He knew her too well and didn’t want to pressure her. He wanted to follow her temperament. But in the end, it all seemed to be for someone else’s benefit. He couldn’t bear it.

"Ah Bing, can you really not forget about me?" Hua Xiaomo looked at him.

They had been entangled for so long. Even though she recognized her feelings deep down, she still couldn’t open up to him and say she loved him.

"What about you? Can you forget about me?" Qi Longbing countered. He then said nothing more and lit a cigarette. The smoke curled around his fingers as he watched her. "If I ask you not to go, to choose to marry me, would you say yes?"

"Ah Bing, you’re forcing me," Hua Xiaomo said as she looked at him.

"Then don’t make me force you," Qi Longbing replied, his voice remarkably calm, his remarkably handsome face cast in a somber light.

Hua Xiaomo fell silent for a moment, then smiled faintly. "Alright, I will consider it, but I hope that whatever decision I make, you will respect it, alright?"

To her surprise, he responded with two words, "It depends."

Hua Xiaomo said no more.

"What do you feel like eating now? Order anything."

Hua Xiaomo’s gaze drifted elsewhere. Did they really have to continue ? But truly, she felt somewhat powerless.

Throughout dinner, Hua Xiaomo ate very little.

In the end, she did not let him take her home. She returned to her own place.

Unsurprisingly, her father Hua Renda had already arrived there.

"Xiao Mo, why did it take you so long to come back? We’ve all been waiting here for you to eat!" Hua Renda said enthusiastically, his face beaming with a brilliant smile as if he had returned to his younger days.

Looking at Hua Renda, Xiao Mo frowned slightly. "Why wait for me to eat? Go ahead without me; I’m not hungry. I’ve already eaten. Anyway, I’m going upstairs now."

Hua Xiaomo said no more and quickly went upstairs. After closing the door, her mind was in complete disarray.

Hua Renda had come again. It was easy to guess why, wasn’t it?

Lately, he had been visiting the house more often. She thought he would never come to see her and her mother if it weren’t for her impending marriage into the Qi Family.

Forget it. She didn’t care to involve herself in their affairs when her own life was already in enough turmoil.

In a few days, she would accompany Qi Lingfeng abroad for his recovery.

Taking this opportunity to get away seemed like a good idea. She needed to think things through, quietly and by herself.

「Finally, after several days, she made a decision.」

Qi Longbing’s phone rang. He received a call—it was from Hua Xiaomo.

"Ah Bing, I’ve decided... I’m going to accompany Qi Lingfeng abroad for his recovery. I’m responsible for his situation. Don’t come looking for me; it won’t do any good if you do. That’s all, goodbye." Hua Xiaomo hung up the phone and then turned it off right away.

Qi Longbing sat quietly with his phone, looking at it for a very long time. Ultimately, he did not make the call. Deep down, he felt utterly hopeless.

It seemed this woman really was heartless, truly angry, and intent on abandoning everything they had. It was laughable. What had they really shared up until now? Nothing?

Just his own foolish, unrequited affection.

Yet, it seemed she was so cold-hearted. But once, he had heard her shouting his name in her dreams. Why then, in real life, was she unwilling to admit her feelings for him?

He found this utterly incomprehensible. He wanted to give Hua Xiaomo everything, yet she refused it all. She repeatedly avoided and rejected him. Trying to get closer to her felt so difficult.

Her face was like a mask, always so hard to approach. When you tried to get close, she would quickly put on that mask, making it impossible to truly reach her, to see through her.

In the end, after you give your sincere heart, you’re still foolishly hurt. Eventually, you lose the other person, and you’re still the one who gets harmed.

Is this retribution? Did he, Qi Longbing, do too many wicked things in a previous life? Is that why, in this life, such a woman was sent to torment him? She has tormented him for so long and still hasn’t let go. And there’s no telling when it will end.

Qi Longbing laughed, a hint of bitter sarcasm tugging at the corner of his mouth. He knew he’d always been too soft-hearted, too weak.

That’s why women had led him by the nose, even now.

Suddenly, he detested his current self.

CRASH! He suddenly picked up a glass from his office desk and smashed it to the ground.

The sudden noise frightened the two secretaries outside. They rushed into the CEO’s office, thinking something had happened. However, they saw him standing elegantly with his hands in his pockets, surveying the shattered glass on the ground as if nothing was amiss.

"Who let you in? I’m fine. All of you, get out. Back to work. Meeting later."
