Chapter 83: Chapter 83
"What are you doing here?" Sean inquired, stepping closer to his mother, who was seated on the couch.
"What type of ridiculous question is this? Of course, I came to visit my son and see my granddaughters," she chuckled softly.
Sean's gaze abruptly landed on the suitcase beside her leg. "And this?" he pointed his index finger at it.
"Oh, I will be spending the week here. I want to bond with my grandkids," she replied nonchalantly.
A loud sigh escaped his lips as he massaged his temples. "Mom, please just go back home. I'm going to be busy throughout the week, and I won't have any time to waste on you."
"You don't have to worry about me. I will be busy bonding with my beautiful granddaughters," she said firmly.
"First of all, you can't just come to our house without any notice, and lastly, Pearl and Ruby are just babies. They can't even speak yet. Will you be patient?"
"I don't mind. There are other ways we can bond. Watching them grow up alone is enough for me."
Sean turned to look at Andrea, and she gave him a reassuring smile.
"Fine. You can stay. Just know that as soon as you cross your boundaries, I will get you thrown out of my house," Sean warned before walking off.
Mrs. Wilson glared at Andrea disdainfully. "Good morning, Mom," she greeted, with her gaze lowered slightly.
"Are you just seeing me, or do you have problems with your eyesight?" she hissed loudly.
Andrea's lips parted slightly, and before she could form words, she was cut off. "Just be quiet. Where are my granddaughters?" she demanded, her gaze looking around the place.
"I will clean the twins up and bring them down shortly," she replied calmly.
A gasp escaped Mrs. Wilson's mouth. "You mean to say you are just waking up? Do you know what the time says? Just looking at you, one can tell you are such a lazy woman! You think marriage is all about opening your legs at night for your husband, you are so completely clueless."
Andrea bit her lip hard, she took a deep breath, trying to calm her nerves. She wouldn't let Mrs. Wilson cut through her today with her hurtful words.
Mrs. Wilson suddenly snickered. "What? Are you annoyed? You want to beat me right? Come beat me."
"What are you talking about, Mom? Of course not," she said quietly before going upstairs.
"Oh my goodness. What is this woman doing here?" Andrea thought to herself inwardly.
....
"Good morning, jasm," Amber greeted while beaming a smile.
"What a beautiful morning it is," Jasmine replied enthusiastically.
"Ah! Sure, it is."
"Don't tell me that jerk sent this again," Jasmine frowned, looking at the bouquet of roses on the desk.
"Mhm hm. Jasm, are you sure you two aren't going out?" Amber whispered curiously.
Jasmine let out a sigh of frustration. "Of course not. I will get this thrown away." She rose to her feet, and before she could pick them up, Amber snatched them away.
"Do you know these flowers are crazily expensive? If you don't want it, I will take it," she happily announced, taking in the delightful fragrance of the flowers.
"Whatever," Jasmine uttered while thinking about how to get in contact with Jace.
Like he could read her mind, her phone beeped with a message notification from him.
"Do you like pink roses, babe?" Jasmine read out from her phone and couldn't help but groan out loud. "What do I do with this crazy guy?" her tone was laced with frustration as she ruffled her hair.

”Vixen, why are you taking so long?" Mrs. Wilson yelled from the living room.
Andrea emerged from the kitchen with a tray of tea and biscuits. "Here," she gently placed it on the coffee table.
She raised the cup to her lips and suddenly paused, casting a glance at Andrea. "What if you poisoned my coffee? Drink!" she ordered.
Andrea wiped the sweat from her forehead. She picked up the cup and sipped from the coffee, willingly dispelling the doubt Mrs. Wilson harboured.
"You can go now," she said and picked up the remote control from the couch, ignoring Andrea's existence.
Andrea sighed silently and quickly went upstairs before Mrs. Wilson could send her on an errand again.
That mother-in-law of yours is so arrogant. She's so lucky she's Mr. Wilson's mother, or else I would have gone out there and taught her a good lesson," Elena said as soon as Andrea walked into the room.
"Relax, Lena. Mrs. Wilson is quite a tough nut to crack. So what have you been up to? Have you made a decision yet?" Andrea sat beside her.
"Nothing. I was hoping we would leave this hell of a house and have breakfast at a restaurant."
"Sounds like a good plan. I will go get changed," she happily announced.
Andrea came downstairs with Elena, and she cleared her throat slightly, trying to gain Mrs. Wilson's attention, which she succeeded in doing.
"Mom, my friend Lena isn't feeling well. I am taking her to the hospital. I will be back soon," she said, and they both quickly walked towards the door.
"Wait!"
They paused in their tracks and slowly turned around. "Make sure you come home early, or I will assume you are seeing another man," Mrs. Wilson warned.
"Of course not. If that's the case, I won't be taking Ruby and Pearl with me," Andrea said, forcing a smile.
"Just go already. I'm already sick of seeing your face," Mrs. Wilson rolled her eyes before averting her gaze.
The car came to a halt at a restaurant, and they all got out. Andrea held Pearl in her arms, while Ruby was in Elena's embrace.
They looked for an empty table and settled down. "I'm starving. What should we order?" said Elena, as her eyes roamed the menu.
"Order whatever you want," Andrea replied absentmindedly while using her phone.
"Is something wrong?" Elena asked.
"It's nothing, actually. I was just wondering if Sean has had his breakfast yet. I mean, it's almost noon now,” Andrea explained.
"Worry about yourself, girl. He has a five-star chef at his company," Elena chuckled.
"But what if he's very busy and forgets to have his breakfast?" Andrea pouted her lips.
"Is that why you asked me to drive close to his company?" Elena raised an eyebrow.
"Of course not. They have good food here. That's the only reason I asked you to drive here," Andrea defended herself.
Just then, Carmen and her friend Amelia walked into the restaurant and took a seat by the window.
"So, Anastasia is getting married next week. That's so fast. Her boyfriend Kelvin only proposed last month, and now they will be tying the knot," Amelia commented.
Carmen could tell where she was hinting, and she couldn't help but squeeze her fist under the table.
"There's something I have been meaning to ask you, Carmen. When is your wedding with Sean? It's been…seven months now since you two got engaged. Is there something you aren't telling me? You will be 28 in a few months."
Carmen wore a conflicted expression on her face. "Actually, the engagement was called off because Sean cheated. After we got engaged, he changed completely, and later on, I discovered that he was involved with another woman, who also happens to be the mother of his children."
Amelia's pupils dilated in shock. "Are you telling the truth? Sean has kids? A girlfriend?"
Carmen nodded, saying, "They live together here in New York. Sean no longer picks up my calls or replies to my messages. Even at the company, he makes sure to avoid me at all costs."
"That's too much. I thought Sean was a good guy. I never expected him to do such a thing to you. Thank goodness you didn't end up with a jerk like him."
"I can't forget about him. I need my man back, Amelia. After my parents found out about his girlfriend and kids, they have been against my decision to be with him."
"I invited you to lunch today to ask for your help."
"But I thought you said Sean's mother likes you very much. What happened? Did you lie to me about it?"
"Of course not! How could I lie to you about that? Ever since Aunty Danica found out about her grandkids, she neglected me and has been going all out to spend time with them."
"Carmen, I think this is just the universe telling you that Sean is not the one for you," Amelia said calmly.
"I gave him my virginity. Yes, he took my innocence," Carmen cried out.
