Chapter 74: Chapter 74
Chapter 74: Got it, boss!
"Go on," Elena said nonchalantly as she raised her glass of juice to her lips.
"I already got my marriage certificate with Sean," Andrea muttered under her breath.
Elena choked on her drink and began to cough violently. "Are you okay?" Andrea became alarmed and lightly patted her on her back.
"Babe, are you alright?" Ryan asked uneasily.
"I'm fine," Elena managed to mumble, wiping the tears from the corners of her eyes. She exhaled and inhaled multiple times before regaining her composure."Girl, can you say that again?" she shook her head in disbelief.
Andrea's pupils dilated. "I don't think that's a good idea," she said, recalling what happened just a moment ago. "You heard me right, Lena."
Elena grabbed her by the shoulder and in a low tone asked, "Andrea, are you alright? Do you love him? Does he love you? I thought he was betrothed."
"Well, yes, I love him, and I'm sure he feels the same way about me. Regarding his fiancée, he called off their marriage a month ago."
Elena pulled her in for a tight hug. "Wow! I'm so happy for you, Andrea. You truly deserve all of the love you have now. I'm glad the twins will live with both of their parents."
"Right? Thank you, Lena. I can't wait to attend your wedding with Ryan," Andrea said, leaning into the seat.
Elena suddenly gave her a knock on the forehead. "Ouch! What the heck was that?"
"Why are you telling me all of this now? What if I didn't come on this trip with you? Would you have kept everything from me?" Elena demanded angrily.
"I'm sorry, Lena. I was really planning on telling you soon."
Elena cast a side glance at her, and slowly her expression softened. "I forgive you, but if you do that again, I will never speak to you. I may sound childish, but I mean it."
"Got it! I won't keep anything from you ever again. Moreover, I know you have never kept anything from me before, and I really admire that about you," she smiled softly and gave Elena a kiss on the cheek.
Elena stiffened slightly, feeling like someone was piercing her with their gaze. She turned around only to find Sean giving her a deadly glare from the seat opposite to theirs.
Andrea burst out laughing. "Mr. Wilson, stop being jealous and go back to your work," she said, gesturing to his laptop on his thigh.
........
"I was told you called for me, Jacob," Dollface said as she walked into his office and took a seat right opposite him.
Jacob cocked a brow at her and relaxed his chin on his hand. "What have I told you about calling me by my name?"
Dollface pouted her lips. "Why do you have a problem with me calling you Jacob?"
Jacob rubbed his temples; he could feel a headache coming. He didn't want to prolong his interaction with Dollface. "Because it's not proper. I don't want the others to think otherwise," he said as he pulled open his drawer.
Upon hearing this, Dollface nibbled on her bottom lip. She let out a small sigh. She couldn't help it whenever she was around him, but deep down, she knew he could never reciprocate her feelings for him, making her more at the losing end.
Jacob brought out a ticket from the drawer. "On behalf of the company, we are sending you on a small vacation. Take this as an apology for what occurred with you regarding Kylie's case," he pushed it towards her.
Dollface stared down at the ticket and slowly picked it up from the desk. She looked up at Jacob, who was busy on his laptop.
'Thank you. I really need this vacation," she beamed a sweet smile at him.
She took in a deep breath, inhaling his scent that was all over the place. She felt her nerves relax as she stole glances of his side profile.
"You can leave now, Dollface," he said without sparing her a glance.
Dollface swallowed hard, realizing Jacob acknowledged her presence in his office. "Mhm" was the only sound that escaped her throat as she rose to her feet.
"Oh, Dollface, you should get rid of those feelings. You should know better by now," Jacob added unceremoniously. Her hold on the doorknob tightened, she sucked in a sharp breath before leaving the office.
"Any news yet?" Jacob demanded instantly as he picked up a call.
"Sir, we are still tracking her whereabouts. We were told that she quit her job at the hospital, and no one has heard from her since then."
Jacob sneered. "You must find that bitch and bring her to me. I don't care where she is in the world, but you must bring her to me. Got it?" he spat out furiously.
"Got it, boss!"
Tyler barged into the office and plopped himself down on the couch, hugging the fluffy pillow to his chest.
"What are you doing here, Dr. Tyler?" Jacob demanded, casting a glance at his friend.
"How is it going? I mean with your search?" Tyler asked, relaxing his back on the couch.
"They haven't found her yet. I can't wait to lay my hands on that bitch who tricked me."
Tyler pursed his lips, seeing the evident anger in Jacob's eyes. "Okay, let's forget about that. How is it going with...Andrea?"
Jacob pinched the bridge of his nose. "What are you yammering about? Why do you want to know?"
"Because you are very stupid and dumb. Don't tell me you haven't made a move on her yet?"
"Did I ever open my mouth to tell you that I'm interested in her romantically?" he asked, furrowing his brows at Tyler.
"You sure? Because if you are, then I'm going to chase after her," Tyler said, lifting his shoulder in a half shrug.
"Dude, why would you think of doing that? Firstly, do you even know her? What nonsense! You barely even know her,"
Tyler burst out laughing. "You know you are daft, right? Do you know you are sounding so stupid right now?" he said, clasping his stomach, which had begun to ache due to his excessive laughter.
"What are you implying?" Jacob's brows snapped together.
"Bro, you are in love with her. It's kind of obvious—your act of kindness towards her, which you haven't shown for any lady, and how you do look at her like a priceless jewel," Tyler smirked sinisterly.
Jacob let out a loud sigh. "When did you become an investigator from a doctor? You are just imagining things. Why can't you just learn to mind your business? Who I like and don't like shouldn't be your problem."
Tyler tightened his grip on the pillow in his arms, pressing it closer to his chest. "It's my problem because Andrea has been lingering on my mind ever since I set my eyes on her, but now that you have assured me that you have no feelings for her, I will court her until she accepts me."
"But she has daughters," Jacob mumbled.
"So? I like her. Isn't that what matters the most? As it is, I'm not getting any younger, and I think it's time I settle down and have a small family of my own."
Jacob slammed his fist on the table, seeing Tyler was unrelenting in backing down. "Fine! I like her, so back away!" he yelled as he ruffled his hair.
