Chapter 68: Chapter 68
Chapter 68: I don't quite get it
Jacob picked up his phone from his desk and quickly called Tyler on the phone. "Hannah is not as innocent as she seems. In fact, she's a murderer and a psychopath.
"What! " Tyler's pupils dilated in shock; he couldn't help but recall the petite, timid-like lady he met at the station the other day: "So she was just faking all along."
"She thinks she's smart, but she should have known better. I hired a computer genius to hack her call history, and we found out that she was the last person to have communicated with Kylie. When the police found Kylie's lifeless body at her mansion, Doll Face's name was the last one to appear in Kylie's phone call history."
"So, she had deleted her number from the call history, leaving Doll Face's number on purpose because she knew Doll Face and Kylie were not on good terms. She thought that everyone would divert their attention to Doll Face, and no one would ever suspect her."
"Right! I went to see Doll Face earlier today at the station, and she mentioned that when she called Kylie, she picked up and sounded normal. They even got into an argument during that period."
"You need to expose her as soon as possible. Do you have any plans?"
Jacob nodded. "Sure, I do. I will tell you about it later. For now, I have a lot to take care of. I can't wait to finish this case so I can finally focus on Jennica's whereabouts.'
"Here we go again. Can you promise me you will stop this madness if you don't find her this time around?
"I can't promise you. I'll keep searching for her as long as I live. Tyler, you know me better than anyone, and finding Jennica will make me the happiest man in the world."
Tyler chuckled softly. ' You should be thinking about bringing a daughter-in-law home for your mom. You aren't getting any younger. Who knows, maybe Jennica is someone's wife now."
"Don't even speak about that. The thought of it irritates me so much that I can't even imagine my Jennica with a man nonetheless having kids. She's still young; she should focus on her studies and plan on building her career like me."
Tyler burst into laughter. "You haven't found her yet, and you are already planning on dictating her life. Don't you think you will scare her away if you do that?"
"I know what's best for her. I need to go now."
.........
A female officer walked over to a holding cell, unlocked it, and let Doll Face out. She looked completely haggard, with mascara smudging all over her eyes from her never-ending sobbing, giving her the appearance of a woeful panda.
'Someone is here to see you,' she led her to a secluded area away from the visiting room. She carefully placed a small recording device in her pocket and whispered some words into her ear."
Doll's expression slowly softened as she nodded her head in understanding. She was taken to the visiting room, where she found Hannah seated there with her head lowered to the ground.
The officer left, after guiding Doll Face in leaving her with Hannah, "You bitch! What are you doing here?" she voiced out through gritted teeth.
An evil smirk settled on Hannah's lips as she raised her head, her innocent-looking face transforming into a vicious look. She glanced around their surroundings nonchalantly "Hey, Lilly, how are you enjoying your stay in your new home? It's lovely, isn't it?" she said it, chuckling like a maniac.
"You psychopathic bitch! How dare you do this to me? Who the hell do you think you are to spit out trash at me? You cold-blooded murderer," she cursed with resentment.
She arched her brows as she snickered and relaxed into the seat. "Are you done? It isn't as if it's written on my head that I was the one who killed that idiot, Kylie. I only came here to warn you; don't you dare mention my name to Jacob if he comes by to see you, or else I will make sure you follow the same path Kylie took.
Doll Face burst into laughter and suddenly charged forward, grabbing Hannah by the collar. The startled Hannah began to scream loudly as Doll Face attempted to strangle her to death. Luckily, the female officer quickly came in and took Doll's face away as they walked towards the cell. She inched nearer to her. "Did you get her confession?" she asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
Doll Face smiled and nodded her head, giving the recorder back to the officer. "Here, go and arrest her quickly so I can finally leave this disgusting place," she said excitedly. Never in a million years did she think there would be a day she would be yearning for freedom like this one.
"I can't act irrational at the moment, or I might lose my job. I will inform Mr. Jones and wait patiently for his orders," the female officer said.
Kylie's smile faded; nevertheless, she nodded, knowing fully well that she had hope of escaping from this damn hole. She couldn't wait for Hannah to receive her punishment for making her suffer and ruining her reputation, which took her years of sacrifice and hard work to build.
After Hannah left the station in a good mood, she went straight to JJ Entertainment to keep up with her pretense so she could gain Jacob's trust and make him believe she truly knew nothing about Kylie's demise.
She strolled into the building and immediately spotted Jacob coming towards the exit. She toyed with the hem of her shirt as she waited for him to walk in her direction. She raised her head and stared at him with misty eyes. "Sir," she called out to him as Jacob walked past her a little.
He turned around, and Hannah made her way over to his front as her tears trickled down her cheeks freely. "Sir, I just wanted to say thank you for everything you have done for me ever since I became my best friend Kylie's assistant. I'm sure wherever Kylie is right now, she must be feeling grateful for the opportunity you gave her to showcase her talents.
She began to whimper softly. "I can't stay here in New York any longer; it will only remind me of memories of Kylie and me, so I have decided that I will be leaving the city by tomorrow."
Jacob palmed his forehead. "Oh, really?" he said, faking his concern and glanced at his wristwatch. His phone abruptly began to ring, and as he picked up, he was listening to the other person on the line. Hannah tried to use the opportunity to slip away, and just as she reached the door that led outside of the building, she heard Jacob's voice. "Wait!"
He sauntered over to her quickly. "How can you just leave like that?" he asked as he let out a sigh.
Hannah's gaze flickered in confusion. "What do you mean, sir?" she asked, batting her lashes innocently at him.
"How can you just think of leaving your new home behind?" he asked, raising his eyebrows at her.
Hannah smiled faintly. "I don't quite get it."
"I mean, wouldn't you like to be popular like Kylie and be a star? I ......."
Jacob wasn't able to finish his sentence when the cops walked in and said, "Ms. Hannah, you are under arrest for the murder of Kylie Livingston. We have solid proof against you."
Jacob chuckled codly, "How about you become a star in jail? You psychopath! Officers, take this disgusting thing out of my presence," he said, glaring at her distastefully.
