Chapter 50: Chapter 50

Chapter 50: I thought you were dead

I can't," said Sean, and Andrea blinked with feigned innocence.

Elena suppressed her urge to laugh. ”I need to leave now. I will call you once I get back from work," she said, going out of the house.

”Why is that? Aren't they your babies? Andrea questioned him as she folded her arms.

Sean looked at the babies and back at Andrea, saying, ”I can't. Why don't I carry your luggage? While you hold the babies?"

Andrea shook her head almost immediately ”Uh uh. The babies are heavier than the luggage. Mr. Wilson, can you stop arguing with me and pick up the twins?” Her brows knitted into a frown.

She noticed the hesitant look on his face, and a realisation dawned on her: ”Wait, Mr. Wilson, don't tell me you are scared of holding the babies?” She questioned him as she cocked her brow in surprise.

Sean scoffed immediately: "Why will I be scared of babies?”

He moved forward and suddenly froze. ”I only have one question...."

Before he could complete his words, Andrea picked up the twins and demonstrated how to hold them. ”Stop making ridiculous excuses; isn't that what you said to me a while ago? Now I feel like you are the one doing it” She passed the twins to him, and Sean held them like fragile glass.

Andrea pressed her lips tightly. "Are you sure you are comfortable this way?"

Sean nodded, and Andrea pointed at Pearl, saying, "You might be, but Pearl isn't."

He noticed Pearl was on the brink of tears. ”What should I do? Sean began to panic, and Andrea was taken aback; she recalled how composed he was acting a while ago.

”Just hold her properly; Pearl loves to be cuddled. I think if you do that, she won't cry."

Sean nodded, and he noticed Pearl was looking more relaxed and drowsy. As for Ruby, she was very much awake.

As they walked out of the building with Sean holding the babies, Andrea suddenly beamed at him: You are so cunning, Mr. Wilson. How did you get rid of my aunt and cousin that quickly?”

Sean snorted ”I didn't do much. It's all thanks to you anyway. I mean, I have never seen a young lady who doesn't use a passcode to protect her phone. You were freaking out to the extent that you forgot your phone in my room, so I got your aunt's number from it and gave it to Drew to pretend to be a neighbour."

Andrea's jaw slackened immediately.

”By the way, what are you feeding these kids? They are so heavy” Sean couldn't help but complain as they finally got outside.

”I thought you said they were not” Andrea's eyes rolled skyward.

Drew, who had been patiently waiting in the car ever since Sean went into the building, spotted Andrea and his boss, who was holding the babies, coming towards the car through the rearview mirror. He was so dumbfounded by this sight that his mouth hung open as he stared at them in blank amazement.

At this point, he was certain that something was going on between his boss and this lady. He had never seen Sean with a lady who was not related to work for the past five years that he had been working for him.

He quickly managed to put himself together as Sean got into the backseat with Andrea. Drew launched the car's engine and drove in the direction of the airport. The air in the car was filled with total silence until Sean asked Drew to stop the car.

Andrea looked out the window and noticed the car had stopped in front of a store. Drew got out of the car immediately on Sean's orders.

He looked at Andrea before saying, ” I will be right back.” He gently placed Pearl on the seats.

Andrea nodded and watched his figure disappear with his assistant before feeding Ruby in her arms.

Minutes pass by,and Andrea begins to wonder what was taking them so long; she had long forgotten that she had fed the babies, and they still weren't back yet. Feeling bored, she brought out her phone and sent Elena a message.

*******

"Boss, are you waiting for someone?” Drew couldn't help but ask; his legs were hurting from standing. They had purchased what they wanted, but they were still standing in the store doing nothing.

Sean jammed his hands in his pocket. ”Are you this dense? Don't you know that she's a nursing mother? According to the books I read, the babies are mostly fed every two hours. I noticed I have been with her for more than an hour, and the babies might be hungry," he said unceremoniously.

Just when Andrea was about to call Sean to demand if he had forgotten her in the car, they both came back, and Sean passed her a bottle of water.

"Thanks," she mumbled as she shut her eyes. She couldn't believe they spent an hour just to get two bottles of water.

Sean stole glances at her as he cuddled one of the twins, and just then Ruby puked breast milk on his pants.

It was as though the atmosphere in the car had suddenly shifted for Andrea. Her eyes flew open, and she found Sean staring at Ruby in blank amazement.

She widened her eyes in shock and was at a loss for words. 'Oh, Ruby, what have you gotten yourself into?' Andrea thought inwardly.

She quickly brought out a hanky from her bag and said, ”I'm so sorry. I didn't know she would do that.” She tried to wipe it off his pants, but suddenly he stopped her by grabbing the hanky from her.

Andrea tried to take Ruby from him, but Sean didn't let her.

”Don't scold her,”

Sean remained silent and used the hanky to gently wipe Ruby's little lip before cleaning the stain from her dress. ”Why will I scold my daughter?” He asked.

Andrea was astounded by Sean's action; she never expected him to react to the situation like this. She offered him moist towelettes to wipe the stain off his pants.

Ruby yawned and rubbed her little face on her father's chest afterwards before falling asleep.

”She must have been overfed, or maybe it's just a digestive problem," Sean said as he patted Ruby lightly.

Seeing this sight, Andrea couldn't help but smile.

They finally arrived at the airport and boarded Wilson's family's private jet to New York.

Sean was busy with his laptop when he noticed Andrea's breathing had turned even. Seeing how she had positioned her body, Sean could tell she wasn't comfortable. He carried her to the cabin area and placed her on the full-size bed. He covered her body with a quilt, and he leaned over to remove the strands of her hair from her face.

This was the first time he had taken a closer look at her face. Her long lashes fluttered slightly. Immediately, his hand came into contact with her soft skin, and he smiled as his gaze returned to her cherry-like lips. Sean moved nearer until his lips brushed against hers as lightly as a feather before withdrawing himself so as not to disturb or hinder her sleep.

”What have you done to me?” Sean whispered softly into her ear before leaving.

Hours passed quickly, and by the time Andrea woke up, she realised it was already dusk. She moaned softly as she stretched her arms and legs, and just then she realised something wasn't right: she was lying on a soft mattress.

”How did I get here?’ She vividly recalled sitting, and she just decided to close her eyes for a while.

She got up and went into the restroom to wash her face before going to Sean.

”You are finally awake; I thought you were dead," said Sean, his eyes still focused on his tablet.

She noticed the plane had stopped. ”Why aren't we moving?"

Sean rose to his feet. ”We already landed in New York forty minutes ago, and we were waiting for you to wake up."

He picked up the kids, and Andrea quickly went after him. As soon as she got out of the plane, she noticed a flashy black Bentley where Sean was heading. They all got in, and the driver sped off.

The car screeched to a halt in front of a magnificent villa that was brightly lit, illuminating the scenic surroundings. Andrea stared at the opulent building in awe as she was ushered to the grand entrance. Sean's steps came to a stop as he cleared his throat slightly, trying to gain her attention.

' I need to attend to something urgent; the housekeeper will show you to your room,' he said as he gave the babies back to her.

She nodded, and the next moment the door burst open revealing the housekeeper, she bowed slightly and said, "Welcome home, sir and ma'am."

Sean glanced at Andrea one more time before taking his leave. The housekeeper took her luggage in, and she quietly trailed behind her.

She was welcomed with a well-furnished living room with traditional styling. It looked simple yet elegant; her gaze travelled to the majestic stairs, which she took upstairs.

The housekeeper stopped at the doorstep of a room on the right; she twisted the door knob, and the spacious cosy looking room came into view. ”This is your room, ma'am; if you need anything, you can come to me," she said with a polite smile before walking away.

No one needed to tell her that this is the master's bedroom, from its generous king-sized bed to its lavish adornments and luxurious furnishings.

Andrea widened her eyes as she stared into space. ”Wait a minute, isn't the master's bedroom meant for Mr.Wilson? Does this mean I will be sharing a room with him? " Frightening thoughts rose through her mind instantly.

…….

Sean walked into the hospital, and before he could reach out to the receptionist, he met Mrs. Wilson coming towards him.

”Son, thank goodness you are here.”

”How is Dad's condition now?” He asked as he followed his mother to the VIP ward.

”Your dad is doing fine.” The doctor told me he would be discharged first thing in the morning."

They went into the ward, and Sean found his father watching news on TV.

”Look who is here!” Mrs. Wilson chuckled.

Mr. Wilson raised his head from the magazine, and a smile appeared on his face.

”How have you been, son? It's been ages!”

Sean nodded. I'm doing well. How's your health?”

Mr. Wilson laughed. " Well… I'm growing older with each passing day. My last wish is to see you get married to Carmen and have kids. That girl is so well mannered; ever since I was admitted at the hospital, she always stops by to check on me."

An angry frown creased his forehead. ”It's getting late; I will pay you a visit tomorrow," Sean said as he strided out of the ward without waiting to hear from his parents.

No one had any idea what he was planning, and he bet it would leave everyone stupefied once they found out.
