Chapter 44: Then what is the problem?

"Lisa, how could you keep the baby on the bed without putting on a diaper for him? Naomi said it irritatedly.

Lisa rolled her eyes at her. "It slipped my mind, okay?"

Naomi glared at her one more time before stomping out of the room.

"You must be deriving pleasure from seeing your mother go through this, right?" Lisa said to the baby furiously:

Meanwhile, at the condominium, Andrea was just done feeding the babies. She placed them in the crib and stared at them for a long time.

She placed her palm on her cheeks as a loud sigh escaped her lips. " Why do I feel like the babies are looking like Mr. Wilson today?" She thought as she patted her cheeks restlessly.

” This isn't happening," she kept muttering.

She walked to the kitchen to get herself a glass of water, as she felt she might suffer from a panic attack soon enough.

She made her way back into the room and groaned loudly.

"It's so cold today; I should get you two little cuties something to keep you warm, right? '' Andrea stuck out her tongue at them.

" I'll be right back. Be good babies,"

On her way upstairs, she found Elena looking at the corridor vigilantly, so she quickly hid herself. She poked her head a little and noticed Elena had gone back to the room.

Andrea made her way to Elena's door with light footsteps so as not to alarm her of her presence. She placed her ear on the door as she tried to eavesdrop on her conversation.

Meanwhile, inside the bedroom, Elena turned on her laptop, and Nurse Alexa appeared on her screen.

"Hey, head nurse. How are you coping? Alexa spoke in an uneasy tone.

" Well… I'm trying to adjust to the news. I haven't informed Andrea yet. I don't want her to worry about me"

"You are right; if Ms. Andrea finds out, she might feel guilty even though it isn't her fault. But I guess sooner or later she will find out when she notices your presence at home"

" mmm. I will tell her as soon as I find another job at a hospital." Elena sighed loudly.

"I need to go now. I will talk to you later tonight. Take good care of yourself. Don't let it get to your head too much."

Andrea widened her eyes in shock as she stood there, dumbfounded by the news she had just heard.

Before she could twist the door knob, she heard whimpering sounds coming from inside.

Andrea felt her chest ache as her eyes also turned misty. She pulled the door open and rushed over to Elena.

Elena wiped her face quickly " Why didn't you knock before coming in? Don't you know I might be naked?"

"Since when did you care about that? Elena, something this big happened, and you didn't care to inform. How can you handle this news all by yourself? You should have told me, and I will gladly offer my shoulders for you to cry on."

Elena sniffled and pulled Andrea into a hug.

" I'm so sorry I shouldn't have. I was just feeling helpless and lost, Andrea. For the first time in years, I felt like my world was falling apart. I guess there's no need to hide anything from you anymore."

"What do you mean? Tell me everything, Lena. We can think of something together."

Elena sat down on the carpet, and so did Andrea. " Actually, the previous day, I was busy at work, and during lunch time, I got a death threat from a mysterious number. I ignored it casually, and not long after I was called to the director's office, he gave me a letter himself, and when I opened it up, I realized I got fired. I tried asking the director what my offense is, but he couldn't give me an answer,"

" What! Is he crazy? How could he fire you just like that? Do you perhaps have any enemies in the hospital who might have sent you the message?"

" I don't think there is anyone from the hospital. Andrea, actually, I think Ryan is cheating on me. From the text, I could tell the person was talking about my relationship with Ryan. I got angry and decided to meet up with Ryan, and by the time I asked if he truly loved me, He couldn't say a word, and then I broke up with him at that spot " Elena burst into tears as she placed her head on Andrea's chest.

" Goodness! How could he? Elena, maybe he was just overwhelmed by the fact that you suspected his being in a relationship with someone else,"

Elena shook her head. That's not it; I asked him if he was truly in a relationship with someone else, but he remained silent. I have come to the conclusion that he is really in a relationship with another girl."

" Do you think this girlfriend of his was the one who made sure you got fired from the hospital? ’’

" I really don't know; the lady didn't mention anything of that sort; she only threatened me to stay away from her boyfriend," she sniffed.

Andrea nodded slowly, and her gaze remained in an empty space as she caressed Elena's hair gently.

Sean lay down on his bed with his pillow hugged to his chest. He was just prepared to go to bed, as he was already dressed in his roomy pants and plain t-shirt.

He decided to give Sonny a call, as he had no one else to discuss it with who was aware of his current situation. The phone kept ringing for a long time before it connected.

" Hey Sean, why did you call me so early?" Sonny's husky voice sounded from the other end of the line.

Sean could detect the provocation in his voice, and he couldn't help but smirk. One of his favorite things to do is get on other people's nerves.

" You know it's 9 a.m, currently in America; aren't you supposed to be in the office already? he inquired deliberately.

Sonny enlarged his eyes as he quickly jolted up from the bed. He cleared his throat slightly before saying," Yeah, I know. I'm currently in the office. I was busy with lots of work that I can't even begin to wrap my head around."

"Oh really? I guess I should hang up and video call you instead, so maybe I can be of help. You know, I feel quite guilty leaving every responsibility in your custody," Sean said intentionally.

Sonny tittered," Since when did you start feeling guilty? Don't worry, I can manage on my own; this can't be the reason why you possibly called me, right?"

" Of course, yes. What other reasons do I have to call you? You are not my lover, remember?’’ He said it wittingly.

"Come on, Sean, how can you be so heartless? I will hang up now," Sonny said through gritted teeth.

" Wait… I was just kidding."

"Then what is the problem? Sonny stressed his words out.

Sean sighs silently. Andrea found out, I'm the father of the twins."

" What! And what did you say, and how did she react? Sonny spoke in a more eager tone.

" Why do you sound so happy? By the way, that night in the hotel, I left my watch; who in the world would know that this woman took it? And then the other day she came to my apartment, and she saw the watch in my photograph by the door."

" What! Which stage are you guys in? She's already coming to your apartment. Sean, you are so smart. Tell me everything quickly."

"Everything, my foot! She hates me now, and she has been ignoring my calls ever since then," Sean spat out furiously.

I'm not surprised by her actions. I think everything is good now, right? It's not like you love her anyway, and at least you got the opportunity to spend a little time with your kids before you get stuck in a marriage with Ms. Carmen."

" Just in case you don't know, I'm worried about her and what she thinks of me. Ever since I kissed her the other time, I haven't been myself," Sean sighs loudly.

"You mean you both kissed already? Sean, I hope you know that you are in love with her. Sonny couldn't help but ask.

"I thought so too. What should I do? She doesn't want to speak to me anymore."

Just then, he heard a knock on the door before it burst open, revealing Drew. Boss, Ms. Andrea is at the doorstep requesting to see you."

" Just shut up; can't you see I'm busy? Wait... Did you say Andrea? " He carved his brows at him.

Drew smiled before nodding his head.

Without bothering to say goodbye, Sean hung up the phone instantly and sprung to his feet.
