Chapter 18: Why am I hearing that proud peacock voice in my head?

” No one ever dared hang up on me. What a proud peacock!! ” he flung his phone on the table as he tightened his fist.

Drew briskly glanced at his wristwatch” Boss it's getting pretty late. Can I please leave now? " he said more in a pleading tone.

Sean shot him a deadly glare ” you will wait here till closing hours ” he said in a cold tone as he got up and picked up his phone and car keys and began to walk out.

” boss where…..” his words got stuck in his throat immediately Sean turned around.

He could only watch him stride out ” dammit! You are the real proud peacock ” Drew said as he slumped himself on the couch in anger.

CRESCENT WOOD MANSION

Sean finally arrived at his parents house, his mom had called him over for dinner tonight. He went straight to the living room, ignoring everyone's greetings.

" Son, you are finally here. I thought you had changed your mind, " she chuckled sweetly.

" How could I turn you down? Where is your husband ” he demanded as his gaze travelled around the house.

Mrs Wilson's smile slowly faded away ” you mean your father right? " She corrected him.

" It's all the same, I will freshen up first ” he said and went upstairs.

To his greatest surprise he found Carmen lying on his bed while playing with her phone.

His eyes widened in shock and a line appeared on his face immediately ” how dare you lay on my bed with that stinky body of yours ” he yelled furiously.

Carmen jolted upright immediately ” Sean when…when did you come? ” she stuttered inadvertently.

” Answer me now! ” he yelled.

” I..I was waiting for you to come and I got tired so I decided to relax on your bed ” she said with teary eyes.

” oh so the living room or rather the guest room wasn't enough for you huh? Who the hell do you think you are to touch my bed ” he said angrily, walking towards her.

She thought he might hit her next, so she quickly used her arm to cover face. Sean pulled the sheets from the bed and threw it roughly ” I have to change the sheets because of you, now get out! ” he roared angrily.

Carmen ran out in tears, she wailed like a kid as she ran down the stairs. No one has ever called her stinky before and the guy she truly likes was the first to say that to her.

Immediately she managed to walk downstairs, Mrs Wilson came over to her with a frown ” what happened back there? Why are you crying like a kid? ” she demanded.

Carmen sniffled ” it's Sean again, he yelled at me and called me stinky ” she said in between her tears.

Mrs Wilson glanced at her with a puzzled look, she moved nearer to Carmen ” but you don't stink, don't listen to Sean I will get him to apologise ” she consoled her.

Sean finally came down, already dressed in a plain pants and ash t-shirt

” Son, why did you say that to Carmen? You know she's going to be your wife and she has every right to your room ” she half yelled.

” If I knew this was the reason you called me for dinner I would never have shown up. I'm not a kid mom, I won't let you make decisions for me. From now on just stay away from my affairs, ” he said in a very icy voice rendering his mother speechless.

After he was done, he took his keys from the coffee table he had dropped a while ago and walked out of the house.

” I can see my son has finally lost it, ” Mrs Wilson said in an angry tone.

Carmen bit her lip hard till it turned pale, she slowly sat beside Mrs Wilson ” Aunty, what if Sean is seeing some other woman? ”

Mrs Wilson couldn't help but laugh ” that's impossible, Sean has nothing to do with women. Sometimes I wonder if he's interested in the other gender ” she said.

” Drew! Carmen suddenly mumbled and Mrs Wilson turned to her ” how can his partner be Drew? He's clearly not his taste, if Sean was to be interested in men then the guy has to be outstanding like him and have a great body structure too ”

Carmen's lips twitched ” what's this woman thinking” she thought inwardly.

” I mean his assistant Drew should know if he's seeing any lady or maybe he has a girlfriend, ” she said in a hoarse voice.

” Leave that to me Carmen. You don't need to worry I won't accept any random bitch as my daughter in law. You are the one I chose for Sean and I have come up with an idea that can bring you and Sean together ” Mrs Wilson smiled.

MAGIC BAR ALE HOUSE

In the nights of America,

Sean finally arrived at the club to clear his mind off his mother and Carmen who had ruined his mood. The club was filled with lots of people drinking and dancing giving it the impression of broad daylight.

He got an empty seat and ordered himself a bottle of vodka, his favourite brand and began to drink.

Just then a lady wearing a translucent mini black dress made of lace and black heels walked over to his table, swaying her hips seductively, from one glance he knew she must be one of the strippers she tried to lay her hands on his chest, just then he brought his finger forward and poke her in the eye.

”Argh!” She lost her balance and fell on her butt, while holding her eye that was already watering and red ” why did you do that? ” she sniffed as she got up from the ground.

Sean sneered ” try that shit with me again and I will pluck both of your eyeballs out and feed them to the sharks ” he said and she could see the cold-blooded look In his eyes when he said it.

She gulped down her saliva and without waiting for another second she quickly slipped away.

” slutty whore ” he cursed resentfully.

The bitch didn't know he was in a bad mood and he decided to leash his anger on her.

He raised his glass back to his lips and Just then he heard sounds of someone chuckling from behind him. He swiftly turned around and he couldn't help but pursed his lips. He felt like everyone planned on getting on his nerves today.

First that arrogant pregnant woman, Carmen, his mother,that whore and finally another jerk.

” Sean buddy. Did you miss me? ” Sonny said as he sat opposite him and poured himself a glass of alcohol.

” oh wow, is this your underground hideout? Because you don't want to come back to work?. How long have you been back? Sean demanded.

Sonny's smile disappeared immediately ” you always know how to kill the fun in everything why are you always cold Sean? What's wrong with you man? ” he said as he gulped down the drink.

” What's wrong with me shouldn't be your problem? Tell me when you got back? ”

Sonny sighs loudly " okay I got back some few days ago ” he replied leaning on the chair.

” It's alright if you don't want to speak the truth,I will still find out anyway ” Sean said and Sonny sat up immediately and cleared his throat. ” I was only kidding buddy, I got back two weeks ago " he said with a lopsided grin.

Sean smiled back ” very good. You have been back for two whole weeks chilling in the club with whores while I'm in the company every single day working my eyes right? ” he chuckled.

Sonny forced himself to laugh ” it's not like that, have been pretty sick that's why I didn't show up bro ” just then a whore came over and pulled him up by his shirt.

” I have been waiting for you, ” she said in a very seductive voice.

Sonny spanked her ass before wrapping his hand on her slim waist and they began to head upstairs. ” I'm going for treatment, see you soon” he gave him the peace sign and went upstairs with the lady.

” Satyromaniac! ”Sean cursed and continued drinking.

” Why should I thank you? For firing me? ” he heard those particular words in his brain.

”Huh? ” he looked around with a stupefied look on his face.

” Why am I hearing that proud peacock voice in my head? ” he couldn't help but chuckle.

His phone began to vibrate repeatedly,he glanced at the caller ID and it was Riley he must be at the top floor and probably saw him through the CCTV.

" Hey what do you want ” Sean said in a husky voice.

” I just wanted to give you good news, the video you wanted to see the other time is working now ” he said in a proud tone.

” what? Really? I'm coming up right away ” he got up immediately and took the elevator.

The elevator came to view and he met a couple who were so immersed in kissing that they didn't even notice his presence.

He glanced at them with a disgusted look,” get the fuck out ” he yelled at them and pushed the both of them out of the elevator.
