Few Minutes passed and Alfred didn’t show any sign of leaving, Derek checked the wall clock and it was already 8am which indicated Vanessa might be on her way back from jogging down the Estate.
“ I don’t think she’s here” Alfred said in his mind, he opened his eyes and they fell on Derek who was staring at him. “ I have to go now, I can see you’re Busy” He stood up and Derek shook hand with him. “ Please Tell me when you find Vanessa and Mara” Derek pleaded Worriedly and Alfred smiled. “ I will, I know how you’re feeling” He said and Derek nodded his head. He opened the Door for Alfred and he walked out, Derek didn’t mind walking him to the Car because he wasn’t ready for any heartbreak if Alfred sees Vanessa coming back. He closed the Door and took in a deep breath.
“ What should I do if he sees her?” He stamped his feet on the floor. He was still in the state when the Door opened, he turned around thinking it was Alfred who had returned back again. “ Hey Derek” Vanessa Entered the room Carrying Mara on her right side. “ Why did you come back now?” Derek quickly locked the door. “ Why are you over reacting?” She asked him putting Mara on the couch. “ He came, didn’t you see him leaving?” He asked and she nodded her head. “ Nope” Vanessa said and Derek heaved a sigh of relief. “ He just left now” He sat down on the couch and heaved a sigh of relief again.
“ Babe, he went as far as calling your line. I was so scared not knowing your phone was on silent. Thanks girl, you saved my life today and thank you for Leaving the house” Vanessa burst in to Laughter. “ But you said I shouldn’t leave the house earlier” She said and he sighed. “ I was so stupid, I didn’t know he would come. He even sat on that Couch. Do you know what?” he asked Vanessa and she nodded her head while removing the shoes for Mara. “ Nope, till you say” She said.
“ He asked me to cook for him” Vanessa burst in to laughter again and this time, it was louder than the first. “ He what!” She exclaimed. “ I had to lie to him that I was out of foodstuffs. It was all because of you, I would have cook for the billionaire and get rewarded somehow” He sighed and shook his head. “ I’m Sorry about that, maybe another billionaire might come your way very soon” She laughed at him. “ I hope so. But can’t you just forgive him? He’s Madly in love with you” Derek said and Vanessa Chuckled. “ I don’t love him” She said. “ Are you really sure you don’t love him? Aren’t you doing this because of Mara?” He asked and Vanessa sighed.
“ Seriously Derek, Just leave me alone. If I agree to him, I’ll never find peace again. I’ll rather date my ex when he returned than to date the Billionaire” She said and Mara giggled. “ You have an Ex? Wow!” She clapped her tiny hands together. “ Yes your Mummy’s ex boyfriend was so handsome back then. She mocked us then, I really missed those days” He said and Mara laughed. “ Don’t mind him Baby, He wasn’t as handsome as your Daddy” Vanessa quickly covered her mouth but it was too late. “ Wow! I knew you love the Billionaire. Congratulations Girlfriend, you should start thinking of a way to go back to him. I’ll help you pack your bags” Derek teased.
“ Hey stop that, it was just a slip of tongue. I don’t love him” She rolled her eyes. “ Are you hungry?” She asked “ Yes I’m so hungry” Derek answered and she chuckled. “ I wasn’t talking to you, I was talking to my baby” She said and both Derek and Mara laughed. Vanessa stood up from the floor and looked at Derek who was laughing at her. “ No good for you today” She said. “ Then you won’t enter my kitchen” He said to her. “ it’s true Mum, The kitchen is his” Mara Agreed with Derek. “ That’s why I love you Baby” Derek gave Mara a thumbs up.
“ I love you too Uncle Derek, Maybe you should prepare something for us. Mummy said she’s tired” Mara said and Derek nodded his head. “ Alright then, Go in and freshen up, your Food will be ready in no time” Mara stood up and Entered the room with Vanessa.
“ Mummy, why didn’t you tell Uncle Derek you saw Daddy?” Mara asked as Vanessa was removing her cloth for her. “ Uhm.. I don’t want him to uhm.. to… you know” Vanessa was put of words. “ But you shouldn’t have lied to him. You See how he looks when he was telling us Daddy came” Vanessa sighed, she patted Mara on the head and took her to the bathroom.
When She was coming back with Mara, Vanessa saw Alfred coming out of the house and she quickly hid behind some bunch of flowers. He looked around but didn’t see her and she watched him entered the car and they drove out of the Estate. She wondered what brought him by that time of the day and wished there was nothing he did to Derek.
“ Mummy, Don’t worry okay. I don’t want to go back to Daddy again, let’s stop hiding from him.” Mara said and Vanessa smiled. “ Okay Baby, we will stop hiding from him and I’ll tell him we don’t want him in our lives again” She said and they clapped hands. “ That’s my Mummy, I want to be like you when I grow up” Mara said Happily. “ Don’t be like Mummy, I don’t want you to suffer just like me” Vanessa said and Mara nodded her head. “ But you are still my beautiful mummy, I’ll buy you a big house when I grow up” Mara said and Vanessa smiled. “ Alright, I trust my Baby” She said smiling.
